VACANCIES IN ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS


1. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (Post 1)

1.1 QUALIFICATION AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED Holder of a Doctorate (PhD) degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Environmental Engineering/Architecture/Building Economics/Civil Engineering, or

equivalent qualifications in a relevant field and eligible to be registered as a technical teacher with experience in research for at least ten (10) years and must have published at least ten (10) peer reviewed papers; OR Holder of Doctorate (PhD) degree in a relevant field eligible to be registered as technical teacher with experience in research for at least twenty (20) years and must have published at least twenty (20) consultancy / research professional appreciable depth in a relevant field; reports of academic and

1.2 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Teaches students up to NTA 10 (Doctorate Degree); Reviews methodology, content and quality of academic programmes for the purpose of improving quality of graduates; Carries out special instructional activities requiring high degree of competence and technological expertise and experience; Guides and supervises undergraduates in research projects; Participates in planning, development, controlling and running of the curriculum;

Designs and oversees construction of research equipments; Assists and guides students in building up their practical and research projects; Conducts consultancy and community service jobs; Provides advisory services to the public; Prepares and publishes technical papers and books in relevant fields; Undertakes academic administration duties; Prepares learning resources and designs training exercises for students; Undertakes individual research, guides junior staff and participates in scientific / academic congregations

Prepares teaching manuals, simulations and case studies for training; Coaches junior teaching staff; Assumes managerial leadership roles eg. Coordination of academic programmes or major research projects and consultancy; and

Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor. PHTS 15

1.3 SALARY SCALE:

ASSISTANT LECTURER

(Posts 1 in Civil Engineering )

QUALIFICATIONS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED Holder of Masters Degree in Civil / Highway/ Structural/ Mining Engineering from any recognized Institution.

A minimum GPA of 3.8 in Bachelor Degree and Masters Degree with the GPA of 4.0 is required.

Excellent English, written and oral communications skills. Knowledge in Computer application packages.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Teaches up to NTA level 8 Guides and Supervises students in building up their practical and research projects; Prepares learning resources and designs training exercises for students; Conducts consultancy and community services Develops and Reviews the existing curriculum; Undertakes individual research and participates in scientific/academic congregations; Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

SENIOR INSTRUCTOR II

(Mechanical Engineering)

3.1

QUALIFICATION Holder of Masters Degree (NTA Level 9) in Mechanical Engineering who is eligible for registration as a technical teacher.

3.2

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Teaches up to NTA level 6 and may assist teaching in higher NTA levels; Administers examinations for NTA level 8; Supervises and assists students in building up their research/ projects Develops and reviews curricula; Conducts research, consultancy and community services; Assumes leadership roles; Instructs students in the department; Supervises and assists junior teaching staff; Assists students in building up their practical projects; and Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

INSTRUCTOR I

(1 Post in Electrical / Electronic Engineering)

4.1

QUALIFICATION Holder of Bachelor Degree (NTA Level 8) Or equivalent in relevant field who is eligible for registration as a technical teacher with a working experience in teaching at least three years of relevant practical experience.

4.2

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Teaches up to NTA level 6 and may assist teaching in higher NTA levels; Conducts examinations for NTA level 7 students; Conducts and supports research and consultancy works Prepares learning resources; Supervises field training; Supervises and assists junior staff; and Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor. VACANCIES IN NON ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS


1. ESTATE MANAGER 1.1 QUALIFICATION Holder of Masters Degree in Land Management and Valuation, Environmental Engineering/Architecture/Building Economics/Civil Engineering, or equivalent (1POST)

qualifications with working experience in a senior position in a related field for at least 5 years.

1.2 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Heads of the Estate Department Ensures maintenance and cleaning of University properties and

environment

Examines bills of quantities of Buildings, Estates and Technical Services Prepares work schedules of Buildings, Estates and Technical Services Prepares budget for maintenance works Develops short and long term programmes for the general landscaping of the campus grounds and drainage systems improvement of the

Formulates policies on Buildings and Estates Management Ensures Institute machines and equipment are in good working order Ensures innovative approaches to conditioning, maintaining, and upgrading the built and un-built environment.

Plans, organizes, implements and controls buildings, estate activities and technical services.

Devises methods and procedures for monitoring and controlling of Buildings and Estates functions.

Coordinates work programs in collaboration with building and maintenance staff of the Buildings and Estates

Coordinates the preparation of the physical master plan. Prepares and compiles budget estimates for Capital Development. Coordinates the effective maintenance and rehabilitation of the infrastructure. Performs any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor
