Abdihakim Ali Life History Interview The culture of my subject is an American culture especially Utah culture.

I picked this Culture because it's very much different from my home culture that I grew up. I had my interview with Morgan Adams whom I met in my dancing class, we picked each other specifically since we were both looking a live history interview, our interview went interesting . We both were sharing our life history so when ever I ask her or she asks me a question we both were answering based on our own culture and experience which was so interesting since our experiences are so different and each one of us was willing to know the other ones culture. I have learned many new things from Morgan. Having two different religions we still have some common things that I didnt know it exists in like Polygamy which is some thing common in my culture, also exists in here though its not as prevalent as its in my country. Morgan was born in Utah grew up in West Jordan. Having parents that are both from Utah and grew up an LDS Mormon which is the predominant religion In Utah because of all this Morgan never experienced being different. Morgan feels like the Culture here in America is very diverse and amazing but at the same time it is like all she knows and likes to learn more about how other people live and view life by surrounding her self in an unknown culture. As far as food goes, she loves the food since we can pretty much get any kind of food we want from here .She used to be a dancer since she was at the age of 12 and likes dancing a lot. Here favorite forms of dance here in the U.S are probably contemporary and Hip-hop. Morgan have never experienced being different since she grew up in Utah and lived here

in all of her life. Morgan have been living here in Utah in all her life ,and she considers living in Utah as home, which some thing that will stay here mind for ever where ever she goes to. Since she was born, grew- up and lived here at the same place Morgan never had neither Migration experience nor language barriers. The experience I have is different from the experience she had, I lived a different country which is geographically so much different from the US. Since our culture, religion and language are different from each other talking to her gave me more experience. Ethiopia which is the country I grew up has more 70 different languages spoken and almost any religion exists. Every Nationality dances in their own way but mostly based on traditional dances. In contradiction to here in the USA where every thing is modernized. Being from another country and having English as second language brings to me difference in comparison to Morgan or some one else from Utah.
In comparison to Morgan I am the non privileged group, though I left my country for a time I was very young 3 months of age to Ethiopia, the part of Ethiopia I used to life is settled by the same people I am originally from, which made me not knowing that much what minority is -so far. But after coming to Utah I know what it means to be different and in my own opinion living where you are not privileged is hard specially living with privileged group. When you are in a place where you are privileged you will think more proad than when you are another Country where you are not privileged. I learned a lot from this assignment especially about the Utah culture after having interview . Definitely this assignment challenged my assumption though I life in Utah ,there are certain things I wouldnt have asked or talked about like their believes and culture specially when you have friends that dont care a lot about culture, religion or what ever makes difference. But after having the live history interview I was almost asking

every question that comes to my head .I feel like I know something right know from Utah culture than before.
