Pants and horses

Have you ever wondered how the world ended up adopting a habit of wearing
pants? Why didnt men remain in their tunic, togas, and kits? Well, the answer
lies in the horse. If horses could talk, they would tell you that this fashion
decision can be traced back to ancient Rome. During that time, roman soldiers
clad in tunic were riding out to battle on horseback. However, because their
little skirts made the riding unpleasant, they ended up losing many fights. So
the romans decided to ditch their tunic for long pants that covered their leg
and provided comfort. Japanese samurais, too, swapped their kimonos for a
type of baggy pants known as Hakama. Additionally, Native American men
began putting on pants around the time when horses were introduced into
their community. As more horseback warrior began rocking the pants, the
fashion item became associated with status and honour, and eventually found
its way to other men.

Bipedalism and cold weather
The next time you find yourself wishing the cold away and hoping for eternal
sunshine, remember this-if wasnt for the low temperatures, we would still be
walking on all four like our ape friends. One of the popular theories that
explain our evolution to becoming bipedal beings is set several million years
ago during a period of global cooling. As a result of the drop in temperature,
luscious African rainforest began drying up and losing their abundant fruits. In
search of food and for a better chance of survival, tree-climbing apes were
forced to venture onto land. The new surrounding eventually coerced the early
hominids into being bipedal, which made walking and foraging a less energy-
consuming activity. It also allowed for the use of hand as a method of non-
verbal communication.

Salt and the great wall of china
The tiny salty crystals that you sprinkle on your scrambled eggs play a vital role
in bringing the Great Wall of China into existence. During ancient times, salt
was an extremely valuable commodity. Apart from being used as an essential
food preserving agent, salt also served as a form of money-roman soldiers
were paid in salt, hence the term salary realising how dependant the people
were on the mineral, china decided to introduce salt taxation. Implemented
under the Qin Dynasty, the law fixed the price of salt at a higher level. Doing so
allowed the government to purchase salt at a lower price then sold to the
people for profit. The revenue earned was used to fund the army as well as to
finance the early development of the great wall.

Coffee and the American Revolution
That cup of coffee that you drink every morning is more than just an energy
booster. It is also a very important part of history because without it, it is
necessary to travel back to the Boston tea party in December 16, 1773, when
America was under the rule of the British. The incident saw a group of
American patriots dumping 342 chest of tea, supplied by the East India
Company, into the sea. It was an act of defiance against the Englishs decision
to impose an unauthorised tax on tea. As a sign of protest, members of the
public also abstained from tea, turning to coffee instead. According to history,
it is within the walls of coffee houses throughout New York, Philadelphia and
Boston that the American Revolution was planned.
