ENGLISH LANGUAGE PANEL

Introduction

It is one of the departments in the School Curriculum Committee
which comprises the English Language teachers.

Vision

- Working with full commitment, equipped with specific skills
and requisite knowledge base, to ensure effective teaching and
learning process as well as pupils language mastery
- To create a positive learning culture among the pupils
- To promote awareness among the parents on the importance
of teaching and learning English at home and school.

Mission:

- Attempt to achieve 100 % of English passes in the UPSR for this
year 2014.
- Attempt to achieve 30% of grade A for English in the UPSR
examination
- Attempt to achieve 100% of English passes in the mid year and
end of year examination for year 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
- Reduce the number of pupils who are unable to master the
three main skills in language learning (reading, speaking and
writing) by the end of Year 6
- Increase all pupils proficiency (reading, speaking, writing)

Panels Role

1. Improve and upgrade the quality and effectiveness of language
teaching and learning.

2. Run meetings/discussions (informal/formal) to identify and solve
problems pertaining to teaching and learning, also to discuss the
current curriculum implementation.

3. Review analysis on pupils performance in English Language
monthly tests, semester exams and also UPSR based on the school
target.

4. Develop teaching strategies and approaches to cultivate pupils
learning interest and language proficiency.

5. Generate positive values such as cooperation, teamwork spirit
among the members in the panel as well as other panel members.

6. Exchange new ideas, knowledge and language expertise gained
from recent courses/seminars/workshops attended by panel
member(s).

7. Suggest, plan and ensure successful implementation of the English
activities throughout the year.

Yearly Activities/Strategies:

1. To organize a program called Good Morning Grammar for
year 6 pupils.
2. To organize a program called Lets Read English for year 1, 2, 3
3. To create English corner at Dewan Makan Asrama and every
classroom.
4. To organize a program called English workshop (bengkel
menjawab kertas soalan) for year 4, 5, 6.
5. To run an activity called Learn 5 Words A Week
6. To organize English Language Month
-Spelling bee competition
-Bullet train competition
-Words search/Crossword puzzle competiton
-Sing a song/ Poem recitation/ story-telling
7. To organize English day (every Monday and Wednesday)
- Learn 3 words a day.
- Newspaper Highlight
- Reciting rhymes, Tongue Twister
- Reading a short story
- Contributing proverbs/collective nouns/ riddles from each
class (2-3 minutes during assembly)
- Sing a song
- English bulletin competition
