How to Change Car Oil
Required Materials:
New Oil
New Oil Filter
(Reference owners manual for needed oil and type of oil filter)
Funnel
Oil Filter rench
!o"#$nd rench or %pt soc&et
Oil pan or some type of container to catch the draining oil
'ac& and two (ac& stands (depending on ground clearance)
Clean Rag

Ma&e sure to not confuse the oil plug for the transmission plug )ecause adding oil to the
transmission can )e fatal to your transmission and engine*
+eneral ,nstructions

-*- .ar& your 0ehicle on le0el ground and turn off engine*
-*1 /epending on the ground clearance under the car2 (ac& up3raise the front end of your
car and place the two (ac& stands under the front end* 4ee Figure -*

-*-7 Clean under the oil pan with a rag ridding of the residue oil that was drained*

Note: 9he oil filter should )e located near or a)o0e the oil pan*

1*6 =sing the oil filter wrench2 carefully remo0e the filter from its place* 4ee Figure %*
Note: Once the filter is a)le to )e remo0ed2 ma&e sure to &eep the filter upright to
ensure that it does not spill out the oil in it*

1*7 /ip your fingertip in the oil that has )een drained2 and lu)ricate the gas&et ring on the

Note: 9his ensures that the filter will )e sealed securely*

Note: Ma&e sure to not o0erflow the funnel and allow funnel to )reathe*

6*8 4tart the engine and let run for a)out 6> seconds*
Note: @ou will notice that the oil light will turn on for a few moments*
6*% 9urn off engine*
6*: Chec& under the car for any lea&s*
6*:*- ,f there is a lea&2 ma&e sure that the oil pan plug and oil filter are )oth
securely tightened*
6*:*1 ,f no lea&s occur2 place (ac& stand under front end2 remo0e (ac& stands2 and
safely lower the car to the ground*
6*:*6 Clean up any residue under the oil pan if necessary*
6*; ,nstall and remo0e oil dipstic& to ma&e sure oil is at the correct le0el* 4ee Figure --*

oil for you*
