Congratulations to Luke Dutton for being awarded a place at Taunton School as from September
2014. This is a marvellous achievement and is testament to the hard work he has put in this year;
well done!
We also congratulate the Under 9 cricket team for their win over St Johns. This is the first time
that we have beaten our friends from across the river in 15 years and clearly shows the hard work
that the boys have put into their cricket over the winter months; well done. The Under 11 girls
pulled off a nail biting victory over Beaudesert in their rounders match this week and it was clear to
see from the massive smiles on their faces just how pleased they were.
Flexi-boarding has really taken off this term with a large number of children choosing to stay
overnight to have some fun with their friends. If you would like you child to have a taster night
please do not hesitate to get in contact with Mr and Mrs Glanville.
At Tockington we take the welfare and safeguarding of our children very seriously indeed so you will be interested to learn
that every member of staff has now successfully received First Aid training and have all reached the Level I Safeguarding
standard. In addition, the following members of staff have now reached Level II (a level that is normally only required by

Next Thursday we shall be holding another Senior School Information Evening with both the Heads of Clifton High and
Taunton giving presentations. All parents and children in Years 7 & 8 are invited but we ask that you please notify the
office in advance if you would like to attend so that we can make the appropriate arrangements.
In addition to the Open Evening next Friday, we will also be having our Whole School photograph taken in the morning. All
boys will need to wear the correct full school uniform i.e. grey shirt and ties. Girls will be required to wear their summer
uniform. For the first time, all children from Wrens to Year 8 will be in this photograph.
Please note that Mrs Hinchliffe is not able to attend Parents Evening on Tuesday 13th May and Mrs Russell will not be
there on Sunday 18th May.
I would like to given another reminder that all children from Reception to Year 8 are expected to attend Speech Day on
12th July. This is always a wonderful way of celebrating the childrens many successes and prizes will be given to children
in every year group from Owls entering Reception through to Year 8. I look forward to announcing our guest speaker in
due course.

Fun with Geckos
Year 3 and Year 7 had great fun meeting Jai and Roshan's pet geckos on
Monday. We all had great fun playing with Alex the Gecko and trying to spot
Jumpy the Gecko, who was hiding in the leaves. We learned what they eat,
where they come from and how to take care of them. We used all of the
information we learned to write poems about geckos and draw pictures of
them.

Player of the Year
After a stunning first season of contact rugby,
characterised by great running tries down the
wing and some awesome tackling in defence,
Otis Walker received the Coach's Player of the
Season Award for the Under 9's squad at North
Bristol Rugby Football Club. Congratulations,
Otis!
Under 9 Cricket Team
The Under 9 cricket team continue to impress with a thrilling 12 run
victory over a strong St Johns-on-the-Hill X containing two Gwent
County players. TMS scored 303 and restricted St Johns to 291
with some miserly bowling with Peter Banks, Archie Symonds and
Freddie Cooper all bowling effectively. Jake Wakeling won the Man
of the Match award for his 3 over spell of 1 wicket for 5 runs. He
captained the side very well and led from the front. This is the first
time we have beaten St Johns in cricket for a long time! The Under
9s won their first match against Wycliffe by 9 runs. Keep it up!
Celebrating Reading in the Holidays
A HUGE thank you to all of the 44 children who took part in the
Readathon sponsored read for the charities: Roald Dahls
Marvellous Childrens Charity, Clic Sargent and Together for Short
Lives. You raised a record 817 for these charities. This is a
phenomenal effort and we thank you all so much. We also hope that
you have enjoyed the reading you have done over 157 books read
in all, with some children reading over 2000 pages during the
holidays. I think you are all a great credit to this school and I know
your money will be put to very good use in all three of the charities
we have supported. You know that you and your families and friends
have helped to make the lives of children who are unwell, and their
families who support them. more comfortable and pleasurable. Well
done!

Athletics
Congratulations to Alex Grocott on breaking Max Curtiss U12 Boys 600 metre record. The mark now stands at 1 minute
54.2 seconds. Well done, Alex!
Both Otis Walker and Dalis Jones are within three seconds of breaking the U10 and U11 600 metre records.
Alvaro Daguerre has the strongest arm in the school! He recently through the cricket ball 50.60 metres.
Year 6 Mufti Day
Congratulations to Year 6 who have been awarded a
Mufti Day on Thursday 15th May in recognition of
their excellent attitude and performance in all their
lessons.
Informal Concert
There will be an informal concert at 1.30 pm in the
