House Rent Allowances

The existing scheme of House Rent Allowance followed in the State with revised slab rates and
present classification of cities and towns shall be continued. However, the existing slab rates shall
be doubled. The revised rates of House Rent Allowance in the revised pay scales shall be as
indicated in the Statements (! and (! in Appendix" of #.$ (given below!. The revised rates of
House Rent Allowance shall ta%e effect from &st 'une, ())*.

CITY COMPENSATORY ALLOWANCE: The present rates of city compensatory allowance shall be
doubled with effect from &st 'une, ())*. The revised rates of -ity -ompensatory Allowance are as
indicated in Appendix".
SPECIAL PAY : The existing 8uantum of special pay drawn by the employees shall be continued
as such in the revised pay structure including the employees of Tamil 9adu House, 9ew :elhi who
are presently drawing special pay at the rate of (); of the existing basic pay.
SPECIAL ALLOWANCE: As the $fficial -ommittee has recommended higher scales of pay to the
posts of Section $fficers < +rivate Secretaries in Secretariat < High -ourt, :eputy -ollector,
Tahsildars and :eputy Tahsildars in Revenue :epartment, the #overnment direct that the existing
8uantum of Special Allowance granted to these categories of posts shall be continued at the same
rates in the revised pay structure.
PERSONAL PAY : The benefit of 4; personal pay granted to certain categories and adhoc
personal pay granted to $ffice Assistants and Hospital =or%ers shall be dispensed with in the
revised pay structure. However in order to avoid monetary loss to the incumbents who have
already en>oyed the benefit of personal pay, #overnment direct that the personal pay drawn by
such employees including the personal pay granted while moving on to Selection #rade < Special
#rade shall be absorbed while fixing the pay in the revised pay structure.
