CUTTING
This is the third in a series of eight illusion plans contributed
to Genii by James P. Riser. They were originally sold thru
Riser Custom Magic. We appreciate this contribution as we
know many of our readers like to build their own illusions.

EFFECT: The magician shows a
large stainless steel blade and a blade
guide. He now either selects a girl
from the audience or uses his own
assistant. The girl reclines on the
table as the blade guide is fitted over
her stomach. The magician pro-
ceeds to force the blade into the
guide and thus through the girl! The
table with the severed girl is slowly
revolved showing the blade through
the girl from all angles. The blade is
withdrawn and the blade guide is re-
moved. The girl (restored, of course)
then gets up from the table.
METHOD: This illusion is ac-
complished by a special blade and a
cleverly designed blade guide. The
stainless steel blade has two parts
which slide up as the stationary
blade with the cut-out section goes
down around the girl. This sta-
tionary blade shows through both
sides of the blade guide. Since the
blade is seen to either side of the girl,
it appears that it has penetrated her.
The sliding Masonite panels on the
blade guide allow the guide to fit
most girls without exposing the cut-
out section of the blade. A small
towel can be placed over the girl's
tummy to cushion the weight of the
sliding blades if desired. The tops of
the sliding blades are hidden by the
two stationary sheets of stainless
steel hanging in the top half of the
frame.
The legs on the table unscrew for
transporting and the table folds in
half to make it- easier to handle.
