Guided by this motto, INTERTAM fights for better living conditions in poverty-stricken countries and to increase Switzerlands solidarity with people in the south since 1964. At the heart of our commitment is the transfer of knowledge, skills and experience to partner organizations. To this end, INTERTEAM organizes work assignments for qualified Swiss professionals who carry out development work in Africa or Latin America for three years. The aim of INTERTEAM assignments is to support our partner organizations through capacity building and empowerment in order to allow them to improve the quality of service toward their beneficiaries.
Duties and Responsibilities The Deputy Country Coordinator is under the direct supervision and guidance of the Country Coordinator. The Deputy Country Coordinator supports the Country Coordinator in the overall management of the country program Tanzania. The incumbent is responsible for substantially contributing to the implementation, monitoring and oversight of the program and to the operations supporting the development workers and the partner organizations of INTERTEAM. The Deputy Country Coordinator is expected to bring innovative thinking to be adapted to the environment and to the strategic development of the program. He/she also plays an important role in monitoring the assignments of the development workers, maintenance of the partner organizations and in acquiring new partners.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
Assist with the arrival of the new development workers including travel and accommodation in country briefing Preparation of immigration documents for the development workers and follow up on the procedures Support the planning and monitoring process for the development workers and assist in project visits with the partner organizations Maintaining regular communications and ensure the continuity of the partnership between INTERTEAM Tanzania and its partners Development and acquisition of new partners/placements through liaison with local organizations, national authorities, and international agencies
Production of project visits and program reports Assist in the planning and overseeing the country program
Required Skills and Experience
Education/Knowledge:
Completion of a higher education in Health, Education, Social Sciences, International Relations, or related fields
Experience: Experience in working with NGOs in the Lake Zone Hand-on experience in monitoring and evaluation of development programs Experience in working with and supporting development workers Experience in working with local partner organizations In-depth understanding of Tanzanias development, health and education system and its challenges and opportunities
Language: Fluency in spoken and written Kiswahili and English is an absolute must; Knowledge of other languages like German will be considered an advantage
Skills: Excellent written/oral communication & presentation skills Negotiation and liaison skills Administrative skills Ability to manage staff (development workers)
