pect, and I am pleased that the

Plenty of fanfare and flair will
mark the reopening of Burling-
ton Countys popular Farmers
Market come Saturday, May 17,
kicking off an eighth season of
locally grown Jersey Fresh fruits
and vegetables, baked goods and
other prepared foods and a vari-
ety of live entertainment, cook-
ing demonstrations and unique
crafts.
Located at the Burlington
County Community Ag Center on
Centerton Road in Moorestown
and sponsored by the Burlington
County Board of Freeholders, the
market opens at 8:30 a.m. and will
run an extra hour on opening day
until 2 p.m., giving visitors plenty
of time to shop and stroll.
But it will also be a day of cere-
mony, with Seneca High Schools
ROTC contingent formally pre-
senting the colors at 9 a.m., the 4-
H Cloggers taking center stage at
10 a.m. and April Mae and the
June Bugs providing musical en-
tertainment shortly thereafter.
Freeholder Director Bruce
Garganio said the county will of-
ficially dedicate a new onsite
catering-sized kitchen at 11 a.m.,
an addition to the Ag Center
which will facilitate future spe-
cial events. Right after the dedi-
cation, celebrity chef Cyndi Stan-
imirov, a successful contestant on
TVs Hells Kitchen and now sous
chef at the recently opened Fire-
birds Grill in the Moorestown
Mall, will lead off the weekly
cooking demonstrations.
Theres no question that this
will be our best season ever, Gar-
ganio said. Our list of vendors
continues to grow, and will rotate
from Saturday to Saturday. Local,
Jersey Fresh fruits and vegeta-
bles, fresh meats, eggs, perennial,
annual and cut flowers, herbs and
alpaca products, live music, farm-
ing and gardening demonstra-
tions and hand-made crafts and
art are all on the agenda. Plus
cooking demonstrations will be
held in the new kitchen every Sat-
urday at 10 a.m. This is truly a
unique and colorful family event
that caters not just to those in the
market for fresh produce, but
also those who are looking for ad-
vice on everything from cooking
to gardening.
More than four dozen vendors
will be participating in this years
market, including many old fa-
vorites, as well as several new
additions.

INTERIMPUBLISHER
L
ast year at this time, we
preached how important it was
to stay local for the summer-
time. We said that the 102 days be-
tween Memorial Day and Labor Day
weekends are crucial for the Jersey
Shore, which, no matter where you
live in our fine state, has a vital impact
on our economy.
We are now a year-and-a-half re-
moved from the devastation that was
caused by Hurricane Sandy, but some
Shore towns are still fighting to fully
recover. Beach remediation is all but
complete, and the boardwalks and
shops are up and running, for the most
part at least those that decided to re-
build.
But these Shore towns still need our
support.
Beach Season 2013 was not a good
one. As if rebuilding from Sandy was-
nt bad enough, an incredibly wet June
kept visitors away from the Shore dur-
ing prime weekends. Sales for stores
in the hardest-hit areas of the storm
were off anywhere from 20-40 percent
last year, according to state economic
reports. And Gov. Christies office esti-
mated that companies lost more than
$63 million in business due to the
storm.
So whats the message here? Its sim-
ple: Visit the Shore this summer, and
visit often.
New Jersey residents often take our
coastline for granted, but we should
realize how lucky we are to have such
a gem this close to home. So lets pay it
back this summer.
There are fewer than three weeks
until the official start of the summer
beach season, but with schools letting
out a little later this year thanks to the
snowy winter, there is still plenty of
time to plan your summer vacation at
the Jersey Shore.
The beach towns need your support,
now more than ever. Lets all dedicate
at least part of our summer to giving
back.
New year, same message:
Stay local this summer

Senior wins 100th tennis match
By NICK COHEN
The Sun
In a season that has already featured
senior Tyler Blessing winning his 100th
match, the Moorestown High School boys
tennis team is hopeful that isnt the only
accomplishment it will celebrate this year.
Our goal every season is to compete for
a state championship, head coach Bill
Kingston said. That is not an easy goal to
obtain. We talked about last year and what
made it successful. We look back as a team
to see what we can learn, do differently.
Moorestown is no stranger to success
under Kingston. His teams have won South
Jersey titles every season since 1977 except
2005. The Quakers own six Group III
crowns, winning previously in 1978, 1981,
2004, 2007, 2008 and 2013. Kingston, who
recorded victory No. 1,000 as a coach last
season, is quick to deflect any credit onto
his team.
We have a culture within the team
where each year the team learns from the
previous groups. Tyler and Alex Epstein
are our senior leaders, and theyve really
taken over the direction of the team.
According to Kingston, how much of an
influence the captains have varies year to
year. Moorestowns tradition of success is
something seniors such as Blessing take
upon themselves to uphold.
Every year is different. Some years our
captains are better than others. Last year
we had a good one with Hamza Husain.
These two are really good. They have the
conversation with the team on what we
want to and what we can accomplish,
Kingston said.
Blessing has been the type of player a
team can build around since his freshman
season.
Hes been in the varsity lineup for four
years and hes gotten better every year.
Each year he has moved up a spot. He start-
ed as a doubles player then moved to third
singles and up from there, Kingston said.
Each year hes had to improve according-
ly, and he has done that.
In picking up win No. 100, Kingston said
Blessing handled it like a professional
would.
He never said a word about it. Im not
sure how aware he was at the exact mo-
ment but I know he knew hed get there. Its
a major accomplishment, Kingston said.
He could have had more in his career. Hes
been here in years when we played a lot of
different guys so he played less matches
than he could have. Hes a great player. He
has been since he got here.

Cornwall Central School District
for nine years. During his tenure
there, he oversaw the transition
from a half-day to a full-day
kindergarten program, as well as
supporting an outstanding arts
and athletics program.
Rehm plans on bringing this
same level of transition to
Moorestown. The new evaluation
systems require a new standard
of teaching that Rehm expects
will continue to evolve. Specifical-
ly, Rehm is looking at the Com-
mon Core State Standards and
the Partnership for Assessment
of Readiness for College and Ca-
reers as starting points for his
term as superintendent.
All districts need to immerse
themselves in the new tests being
administered, Rehm said. I
have to make sure that all of our
testing initiatives are being met
to ensure that the students are
put in the best possible situation
to do well.
Prior to his role as superin-
tendent at Cornwall Central,
Rehm enjoyed a career as an edu-
cator, beginning as a junior high
mathematics, language arts and
physical education teacher. He
has also worked as an elementary
and middle school principal in
the Cornwall Central School Dis-
trict and the Brooklyn School Dis-
trict, as well as being an assistant
to the superintendent for the Gar-
den City School District.
In total, Rehm brings more
than 26 years of experience as an
educational administrator. His
proven excellence in leadership
roles made him an obvious candi-
date for the position, school offi-
cials said, and after serving as the
interim superintendent since
Feb. 5, the board made the deci-
sion to appoint him as full-time
superintendent.

154 East Main Street, Moorestown
Friends of mine had been looking for a home in Moorestown for nearly a year w/ very specific criteria. A home
walking distance fromdowntown they could customize to make their own. I knew there was a possibility the owner
might want to sell this home, so I made contact to let them know I had a potential buyer. When we through we
could see the home could suit their needs. They had the vision to see what this home had the potential to be & fell
in love with it. We began negotiations while Canton Custom Homes began pricing renovations. Everything was
worked out, and now we get to save a beautiful home on Moorestowns Main St by restoring this gemto its original
glory w/ all the modern bells & whistles.

The eighth grade A1 boys
lacrosse team won three games
on the road over the weekend of
May 2. On Friday night, they vis-
ited the East Windsor Warriors
where Max Blank came up with
some huge saves early in the
game and after a 3-3 score at the
half, the Quakers got back to ba-
sics and earned an 8-4 victory. De-
fensively, the team had many
takeaways and clears including
highlights from Jaxon Zaorski
and Frankie Pryor. Josh Buck
continued to dominate on face-
offs over the entire weekend and
points were generated by Fauvell
(two goals), LaDelfa (two goals,
two assists), Jones (one goal, two
assists), Pozega (one goal, one as-
sist), Lumley (one goal) and
Weissman and Rohrbach each
added a sweet assist.
On Saturday, the boys were
back in action in Interboro, PA
where they cruised to an easy 14-5
victory. The team dominated in
all aspects of the game with mid-
fielders Max Haller and Stephen
Goralski controlling many loose
balls in the neutral zone and frus-
trating the home team. Trevor
Jones, Dan Rohrbach and Peter
LaDelfa led the scoring but Poze-
ga, Kevin Travis, Steven Weiss-
man and Dante Lucarini also got
in on the action.
On Sunday, the boys picked up
where they left off on Saturday
and came out strong against Rose
Tree and rolled to a 15-2 league
win. Bobby Garrison, Reid Greer
and Judah Hicks were smother-
ing on the defensive end of the
field limiting the home team's
chances and Max Blank turned
away all but two shots in the goal.
Points were scored by LaDelfa,
Jones, JT Lumley, Weissman, Lu-
carini, Pozega, Goralski. Justin
Ramos also recorded an assist
when he grabbed a loose ball deep
in the defensive zone and execut-
ed a perfect fast break and
dumped the ball to Lumley who
buried it for one of his three goals
on the day.
