All of Verde Banditos meats and produce will come directly from local, organic farms in the Santa Barbara area. With the prevalence of green washing in the current market, one might as what is organic anyways? The Verde Bandito team strives toward the true guidelines of organic, as Stonyfield Organics defines below:
Organic farmers dont use toxic, persistent pesticides or chemical fertilizers, which have been known to contaminate soil, air, drinking water and food. Instead, organic farmers enrich their soils and control pests by rotating crops, planting cover crops, releasing beneficial insects and adding composted manure and plant wastes to the soil... Organic farmers feed their livestock only organic feed, hay and pasture. These farmers dont use antibiotics or synthetic hormones. They keep their livestock healthy and productive through good nutrition and low-stress living conditions. - Stonyfield Organic (2011)
Six reasons to choose organic foods are: 1. Nutrient Density 2. No persistent pesticides or synthetic fertilizers 3. No synthetic growth or breeding hormones 4. No antibiotics 5. No GMOs 6. Quality animal care (Organic Valley, 2012)
By using all-natural and organic ingredients, we can be sure we are providing our customers with a top quality product every day.

6.2.3 Tamale Tuesdays
In addition to providing tasty organic tacos and operating as a sustainable business, the Verde Bandito will benefit its community. As part of our mission to better our community, we plan to implement Tamale Tuesdays, a weekly philanthropic event to benefit and empower low-income families in the Isla Vista Community. Our intention is to provide a space for low-income families to make their already- famous homemade tamales and sell them through our business. All proceeds of the tamales we sell will go directly back to the families that made them. This venture will not only broaden the market for our local tamale-makers, but also provide a philanthropic way for UCSB students to enjoy their lunch! Figure 6.7
