Job Title: Graduate Engineer
Department: Engineering
Location: Aberdeen
Reporting to: Engineering Manager / Project Manager
Description and Main Purpose of Job:
Learn and demonstrate competence in all aspects related to the provision of technical expertise to construction and
IRM operations ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with Client and Company
requirements.
Accountability and Key Performance Areas
Ensuring that all aspects of the Graduate training programme are completed to schedule and relevant
improvement feedback given and actioned.
Ensuring that all engineering input is checked then executed safely, efficiently and is high in quality.
Ensuring customer focus is maintained.
Ensuring that engineering input to tendering disciplined and is high in quality.
Ensuring that project engineering input adheres to BMS process and procedure.
Ensuring BOL core values are embraced, promoted and adhered to.
Ensuring supplier interfaces are managed effectively.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Commercial Department:
Tendering working with CEs in the commercial departments tendering team to gain an understanding of the
tendering process.
Tendering working with the technical tendering team to gain an understanding of their role in the tendering process.
Contracts working with CEs to gain an understanding of contractual risk and mitigations.
Contracts working with the CEs to gain an understanding of negotiating to our best position.
Contracts working with CEs to gain an understanding commercial advantage, market conditions and realising
revenue opportunity

Operations Department:
1.1 Contract Handover Commercial / Operational interface understanding and management.
1.2 Project Kick Off - Understanding the commercial / operations internal customer role reversal and responsibility
changes.
1.3 Project Deliverables - Understanding what the customer actually wants and when.
1.4 Master Document Register Understanding the importance of this document in defining resource requirements
and delivering excellent service.
1.5 Document Control Work with PMs and Pads to understand the importance of discipline in document delivery
and the effect non controlled documentation can have on the business.
1.6 Master Schedule work with Planning Engineers to gain an understanding of how project schedules help to

indentify risk and opportunity within a project. Get to know Norms.

R&BC Department:
1.7 Identify and Assign Resources - work with PEs to identify resource requirements and gain an understanding of
our own resource base capabilities.
1.8 Project SHEQ Planning work with SAs to gain understanding of the content and role of the SHEQ Plan.
1.9 Risk Management work with SAs to gain a full understanding of the risk management process. Attend risk
management meetings and participate in discussion and reporting.

Operations Department:
1.10 Specific Procedures work with PEs in the development of installation procedures. Gain understanding of the
format, responsibilities and the role master procedures play in workscope execution.

R&BC Department:
1.11 Safety Management Interfaces work with SAs to gain an understanding of how we bridge between our own
safety systems and those of customers and suppliers.

Operations Department:
1.12 Mobilisation work with PEs to gain an understanding of the risk and execution of vessel mobilisations.
Interface with FEs. Work with SCM to gain an understanding of mobilisation logistics.
1.13 Live Vessel Management work with PEs to gain an understanding of their role in supporting operations from
both onshore and offshore perspective. Work with AMG to gain an understanding of how vessel reliability is
maintained.
1.14 Management of Change work with PEs to gain an understanding of how we mange operational change and
the associated risks. Work with CEs to gain an understanding of how we manage commercial change and the
associated risks and opportunity.
1.15 Demobilisation - work with PEs to gain an understanding of the risk and execution of vessel demobilisations.
Interface with FEs. Work with SCM to gain an understanding of demobilisation logistics.
1.16 Close Out work with PEs to gain an understanding of how high quality reporting lines up with achieving
results. Work with CEs to gain an understanding of how commercial closure is achieved to best advantage.
1.17 Feedback work with PEs to gain an understanding of how important it is to share technical and commercial
experience from both positive and negative viewpoints.
1.18 Lessons Learned work with PEs to ensure all lessons learned are captured, fed into the database and when
appropriate produced as engineering notices.

Finance Department:
Project Cost Reporting work with PAs and CEs to gain an understanding of how important project cost reporting is
to the businesses financial reporting process. Understand the importance of invoicing to cash flow and of variation
orders to income.

AMG:
Onshore interface work with Technical Superintendants to gain an understanding of the methods used to maintain
vessel availability to projects. Gain an understanding of AMG and project drivers in terms of vessel maintenance and
reliability issues.
Offshore Interface work with PEs and FEs to gain an understanding of how marine and project teams interface to
provide customer service.

Main Duties and Responsibilities: Health, Safety and the Environment

Green House Gases through elimination, substitution, reduction or new / improved technologies must be considered
through all activities.

Experience and Skill Level Requirement:
Essential
A suitable degree in structural, marine, naval or mechanical engineering
Competent Microsoft Office Suite user
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Desirable
Current UK Survival & Medical
Experienced in the use of AutoCAD,
Experienced in the use of design & installation software eg MATHCAD, Orcaflex and STAAD
Previous applicable engineering experience e.g. subsea, design, installation or fabrication
