Purpose:

To provide skilled trainers who are capable of planning and delivering effective
instructions to TVET learners and evaluate learners progress in order to enable
them to facilitate to achieve the effective teaching - learning process. The trainers of
TVET, Sri Lanka, who have completed their subject specific training NVQ level 3/4 or
any other equal qualification and who require the skills needed to conduct efficient
and effective training programes and professionally develop in their teaching
careers.

Structure:
This is professional teacher Training programme. There are four major components
of the course content.
1. Education/Pedagogical Modules
2. Subject Specific Modules
3. Electives Modules
4. Employability Modules
The first component pedagogical/androgogical training provides necessary theory
inputs and practice activities related education and training. The trainee teacher
should have to plan and deliver micro teaching session to the peer group. During the
micro teaching session, the trainees should have demonstrated adequate
performance to be eligible for further training (Teaching practice). The training
requires full time attendance and active participation of all the participants. After
completion of programme the trainee should have completed teaching practice
(Internship). It is compulsory component for all trainee teachers to be eligible for
certification.
Second component of the progamme will be covered with the selected of modules
from level 05 of each areas of subject or field of studies.
The one of elective module should be selected by the teacher trainee.
This programme will be conducted in Sinhala medium.
Note :one credit is equivalent to 25 notional hours which include class room
teaching, tutorials, assignment, projects, workplace learning and self-study.
Credit policy defines the minimum course content. Training providers could add any
more subjects above modular requirements of the qualification packages.
