Bearings are lubricated with NSKs own oil-impregnated material, Molded-Oil

.
Molded-Oil

consists of lubricating oil and polyolen resin that has an afnity for oil. Oil slowly
seeping from this material provides ample lubrication to the bearing for extended periods.

Excellent performance in water- and
dust-contaminated environments
As the lubricant is resistant to both water and dust, bearing life
under conditions of contaminated lubrication is extended.
Environmentally friendly
As oil seeping from the Molded-Oil

inside the bearing provides

sufcient lubrication, troublesome oil relling is not required.
Low torque
The bearings are lled with Molded-Oil

after a new special

treatment has been applied to the internal surfaces, thus
enabling rolling elements to rotate more smoothly than before.
Such specially treated bearings are now dened as the standard
type for general use. The newly developed bearings for high-speed
operation are similarly treated. (Patent pending)

shows no degradation, as illustrated in Table 1,

and can continue to be used.
Table 1 Difference in the solid lubricant before and

Total acid number and MFR are indexes representing degradation of
lubricant and resin.
Total acid number is the KOH amount required for 1-gram oil.
MFR represents the amount of resin owing out under conditions of 190C
and 211.82N (JIS K7210).

The limiting speeds reect the value when the internal space of the bearing is completely lled with Molded-Oil

, and vary slightly depending on the load.

Handling Precautions
To maintain the excellent long-term lubricating capacity of Molded-Oil

Bearings,
the following precautions should be observed:
I Molded-Oil

melts at about 120C. The bearings must not be heated over 100C, especially during
shrink-tting. Additionally, the bearings should not be heated by the oil bath method.
I The bearings should not be used in conditions where they may be exposed to degreasing liquids such as
organic solvents.
I A radial load is required for the bearings to properly rotate. The minimum radial load recommended for
maintaining proper rotation is at least 1% of the basic dynamic load rating.
