Parking Education Campaign get underway today in conjunction with National Public Works Week DENVER, CO In honor of National Public Works Week, Denver Public Works Right-of-Way Enforcement Agents will be proactively educating the public about the Citys non-posted parking laws and helping people be ticket free in the future. While most people understand how to avoid a parking ticket by reading the posted signage on a block and by moving their car before the meter expires, this campaign is about educating people about the citys non-posted parking laws that are also enforced. These laws help ensure public safety, emergency access, and support for the numerous activities served by on-street parking. This weeks public education campaign will run Monday, May 19, to Friday, May 23, in non-metered areas of Denver and will specifically focus on the non-posted parking ordinances outlined on the flyer below. Drivers in violation of one of these ordinances will receive a warning instead of a citation as well as a quick reference guide detailing common non-posted parking ordinances. Everyone is encouraged to learn more about Denvers parking laws and the Citys approach to managing parking at www.denvergov.org/parking. Denver Public Works estimates that agents issue 400 to 500 tickets per week for the non-posted parking violations listed below, generating approximately $10,000 to $12,000 weekly in general fund revenue. While the focus will be on education and spreading goodwill this week, agents will be instructed to take the appropriate action if they see an unsafe situation in the field. Also please note that enforcement agents WILL continue to write tickets this week for expired meters and for all posted parking laws including tow away zones and street sweeping restrictions, as well as handicapped parking and license plate violations.
