Instruction
LO 1, 2 APS 4.A The teacher
candidate establishes, communicates,
and maintains high expectations for
each students achievement.

ET AT D NM

Instruction Comments:
Teacher candidate always establishes and
carries out high expectations for all
students. Each student understands that she
expects all of them to participate and
complete their work.

She uses a variety of teaching strategies
and materials: smartboard, class discussion,
hands-on materials (magnets).

Students were engaged throughout the
lesson. They had time to explore and do
experiments to determine if different items
were magnets or not.

Began with a question to link it to prior
lessons: "What do you know about a
magnet?" " What type of materials will
they stick to?" "Why"

Higher leveled questions used: "Why did
some things stick to the magnet?" "Why
did some of the items not stick?" "What
kinds of things can you think of that will
stick to magnets?"

Great job assessing and monitoring
students during the group activity and
giving one-on-one help when needed.
