RD
33 SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
NOVEMBER 15TH 2009
PRAYERS FOR THE DECEASED: We pray for our loved ones who have died recently,
especially Tom McMahon.
PRAYERS FOR THE SICK AND SHUT-IN: “Let us raise up in prayer those who seek
God’s healing love, those at the hospital, hospice and at home. May your struggle be
consoled by Christ’s love“.

} MASS SERVER PRACTICE: On Saturday, November 21st at 10:30 a.m. we

will have a teaching session for new Mass Servers. It is always nice to welcome
new servers.
If anyone would like to join us in this ministry, we welcome you and ask your parent to
please call the parish office.

SING NOEL: Come and join our Christmas choir. We will have our first practice
next Saturday, November 21st. Instrumentalists will meet at 2:00 p.m. and singers are
invited to come for 3:00 p.m. The same time slots will be held on November 28th,
December 5th, 12th and 19th. We look forward to seeing old and NEW members.

} BAPTISM PREPARATION: On Monday, November 23rd at 7:30 p.m. we will

host an evening for couples who are requesting to begin the process of the initiation
of their children into our Faith Community. All parents and hopefully, the sponsors
will be with us. Please note that anyone who wishes to be aware of our Church’s
teaching is invited to participate by being present in the church at this time.

} ON OUR WAY WITH JESUS: Children and parents are “on their way”. We met as a
group this week and were pleased to see the enthusiasm of the young people and your
support as parents. Let us keep these people in prayer as we journey with them this year.
“May each of you truly come to appreciate God’s love through forgiveness and Eucharist”
CHRISTMAS GIVING! This year St. F.X. is supporting two worthy charities during the
Christmas season. The first one – Chalice – is a Canadian-based Catholic programme providing
aid in 15 countries worldwide. Please browse the catalogue made available this weekend and
consider adding a Third World child or family to your Christmas gift list. Gifts can range
from a $5 “Most Needed” donation, a $10 Malaria net or $15 for Chicks and Ducklings all the way up
to $15,000 for Construction of a new school! It’s the act of giving- and not the amount – that is most
important. To help get the whole family involved, next week we will distribute special containers to
take home for collecting spare change. We encourage you to return your completed order forms and/
or tins to the church during the weeks leading up to Christmas. We also plan to set up a tree in the
front entrance, with a selection of appropriate ornaments – animals, health supplies, etc. Anyone who
brings in a donation may put an ornament on the tree. Let’s load that tree with ornaments as a shining
example of the generosity of our parishioners!
For those of you who like to shop, we are also collecting Shoeboxes for the Shepherds of Good Hope, for
distribution to the homeless. Both male and female boxes are needed. Suggested contents include: deodorant,
disposable razors, shaving cream, small bottles of shampoo, hand cream, or cologne, tooth paste and tooth
brushes, combs and hair brushes, barrettes or elastics, gloves, mitts, toques, socks or underwear. Boxes
should be unwrapped and secured with elastic, and can be dropped off at the church until December 13th. We
will also happily accept donations of money to purchase items in bulk for this project.
If you need more information on either of these endeavours, please feel free to call Jane Donnelly
(613-432-2241), Nancy Saumure (613-433-7309) or Yvonne Sklepowicz (613-432-6725).
