Activity: Introducing

Procedure:
T talks about the 2014 world cup and asks them to imagine what
events could be happening in the city during the cup. Answers
are collected on the board in Portuguese and T asks Ss if they
could translate the names into English. Ss may tell names in
English if they already know.
T tells they are going to watch a video showing an event that
happens during world cups. T plays the video about the Fan Fest
World cup.(eu mostro o video e fao o que depois? No idea, ask
if they have more suggestions of events? Not sure. I can use
this for the dialogue elaboration, when they will build a
dialogue referring to an event during the world cup)

Procedure: T shows the pictures without names and elicits them
from Ss. With the help of the Ss, T completes the names of the
events by giving them proper names.

Procedure: T asks Ss to say the days of week in English,
reviewing vocabulary from last class.
T shows pics of traditional events of Salvador from the WHAT
presentation, and asks Ss to say the day of week on which each

T explains about the preposition on, telling that before days of
week they have to use the preposition on.

Activity: Oral Repetition

Procedure: T plays the days of week video, which has the names
and pronunciation of the days of week. She plays the video again
and engages Ss into an oral repetition along with the video.
Then she models the names herself and engages Sts into oral
repetition, in group and individually.
Then she begins modeling the names on WHAT presentation
along with the When presentation. Ex.: Tera da Beno party
on Tuesday, The Bonfims mass on Friday. And again she
engages Sts into oral repetition, in group and individually

Activity: Teach WHERE and review vocabulary on places

Procedure: T tells Ss to remember names of places from last
class, and asks them to tell the words they remember. T may
have Ss saying the words in Portuguese, and to each place she
writes the correspondent in English on the board. For checking,
T shows pictures of the places and asks them to name each one.
The pics will come with no name in one slide and names and
pics scrambled in other, alternating then, so Ss will either
remember the names or match the right vocabulary, respectively.
T may have Ss to come on the board to match pics to their
names.

Activity: dialogue elaboration

Procedure: T tells Ss to imagine they are in 2014, world cup
close. T asks Ss to imagine how it would be a conversation about
taking information on events at that time. To whom they would

choose between two situations: talking among friends, or
someone they already know, or asking information in an
information centre.
T tells Ss they are going to develop a dialogue in Portuguese of
how they imagine a dialogue about information on events would
be. T tells them to feel free to write the dialogue as they like.
T monitors the activity, correcting errors and helping with the
pronunciation of the different words and translation. Then,
groups present their dialogues, one at a time.
