Dear users,
This template is created for academic purposes only. Formats in this template were
extracted from UTM Thesis Manual of July 2007 (prepared by SPS UTM) as attached . I will
not be responsible for any output distortion caused by this template. There is no need to
obtain permission from me, please update the format of this document according to latest
version released by UTM SPS. On courtesy, please inform me through email, so that I can
update accordingly should there be any latest edition/update from UTM SPS. Feel free to
share this template with others. If you have any questions/comments/recommendations
please dont hesitate to email me. This is voluntarily work. Thank you for using UTM Thesis

CAUTION: Please read UTM Thesis Manual (July 2007) carefully . Formatting guideline can
be found on page 43 page 70

All formatted. To check, click any sentence/title, this template will show you its format.

3. Please ALWAYS activate document map. This will make your life easier to find
your writing section.



A. Important Menu
This menu can be found in HOME menu

So, if you want to add Chapter 2 OR Section 2.1 OR Section 2.1.1 etc., just type CHAPTER
2/2.1 Title /2.1.1 Title, highlight it and click on Heading 1 (just an example). If you want to
modify the Heading 1 format, just right clickmodify
OR EASIER WAY: JUST SUBSTITUTE THE TITLE IN THE GIVEN TEMPLATE









B. How to Add Figure/Table and Update List of Figure/Table




Select either Figure or Table.
Make sure UNTICK Exclude label
from caption- this is to assure
that your chapter number will be
included in the numbering. Eg:
Figure 1.2 (1= Chapter 1, 2= figure
no.2)
To update list of figure/table, go to list of figure/table page. Right click, update field. This
function is also applicable for Table of Content, List of Abbreviation, List of Symbol, and List
of Appendices in the template.









If you want to edit the format of listed figure/table, go to Insert table of figure. If not, just
use Update Field function.

Be careful with your Table of content, List of figure, List of table, List of abbrev, List of
symbol, List of appendices when using this template. I tried to RE-format exactly according
to UTM Thesis Manual. Failed. Sorry. But you can manually edit those 6 item I mentioned
according to UTM Thesis manual.
I suggest, Only EDIT these section when you finished your thesis because everytime you
update field (See in B), this template will list your table of content, list of figure, etc.
according to default, NOT according to what suggested in UTM Thesis manual.
Thats all. I hope this manual and template will be beneficial. It might not be very detail,
because creating the thesis template is easier than writing the manual. So, for any further
