Primary Function The News Managing Editor serves as the Arabic Managing Editor for Middle East
Radio and is responsible for operational day-to-day management of the news
staff based in Washington and the Middle East stringers and correspondents
overseas. The Arabic News Managing Editor will report to the Middle East VP of
News and the Middle East Radio General Manager in the United States.
Duties ● Managing all U.S. and Arabic Radio broadcast and Internet news staff.
Directly supervising all shift editors including the Internet editor.
● Supervising and providing overall direction for all Arabic and U.S.
newscasts and broadcasts to ensure that this initiative remains of the
highest journalistic quality.
● Reviewing, as appropriate, all Arabic-language newscasts for quality
control and editorial content and that the voicing of Arabic announcers
remains of the highest quality.
● Providing direction, as appropriate, to the Assignment Editor to ensure that
the reports of the stringers and correspondents are relevant, well paced,
factual and balanced.
● Providing general administrative oversight, including guidance on staff
annual leave schedules.
● Helping to conceive, develop and implement major program projects and
new approaches to news reporting and features.
● Conducting policymaker interviews and maintaining a broad network of
contacts in Washington and elsewhere around the world in order to stay
on top of relevant policy developments.
Required ● Bachelors Degree in journalism or broadcast journalism; 10+ years experience plus
graduate degree preferred but not required
● Professional knowledge of writing and editing principles and practices for electronic
media; skill in applying these to material used in international radio broadcasting and
the Internet; must be a seasoned journalist who can judge the relative importance of
topics to be covered and the methods necessary to accomplish this while overseeing
the writing and selecting news under pressure and directing reporters.
● Expert knowledge of management principles and practices and the skill in applying
these to overseeing a staff of professional newscasters.
● Demonstrated ability to plan and manage news staff, including the ability to direct the
work of others.
● Fluency in Arabic and thorough knowledge of the Middle East, including Iraq, to
provide the direction required and produce the necessary news and feature material
from Washington the Radio Network’s network of stringers and correspondents.
● Fluency in English
● Professional knowledge of the Internet and how to ensure that the Radio Network
news material is made available to the radio's Web site.
● In-depth and current knowledge of American foreign policy developments, particularly
those that are relevant to the Middle East.
● Extensive network of contacts in Washington and throughout the world without
maintaining political affiliation with Middle Eastern groups.
● The ability to hire and offer journalism jobs to all level of reporting staff

Primary Function Provide balanced, accurate, objective news and information in my capacity as a
radio news editor. Evaluate program quality and performance and provide on-the-
job training for broadcasters in radio skills and journalistic principles and
practices.
Duties ● Coordinate fully with the Vice President of News on all matters affecting the
coverage and broadcast of news and special events as well as personnel
matters affecting the news team being supervised.
● Develop, organize and implement plans of Netowk news for special-target
audiences and localized programming for assigned stream when the timing
is appropriate.
● Exercise sound editorial judgment in all matters affecting news and
programs broadcast by the Radio Network.
● Identify leading stories for the day and coordinate coverage of these
stories with correspondents and team members.
● Draft and edit Arabic-language news scripts, checking copy for accuracy,
suitability for broadcast, style, and correct grammar. Integrate the use of
sound effects and audio cuts that are most pertinent and interesting to
enhance the quality and appeal of the final production.
● Assign tasks to team members. Prepare a daily schedule of voicing
assignments for team members approved by the Vice President of News to
do on-air voicing. Edit correspondents’ reports.
● Participate in live newscasts, pre-recorded segments, and in-studio
coverage of special events, such as presidential speeches, elections and
other events that the Vice President of News decides should be covered.
● Using proper interview techniques, conduct radio interviews in Arabic and
English with a range of sources involved in political, economic, scientific,
cultural, and other activities. Identify persons to interview and issues to
cover to ensure a balanced program.
● Identify strengths and weaknesses of team members, helping each of them
develop skills to improve the quality of performance and better serve the
broadcasts and the Radio Network’s goals. Provide periodic feed back and
recommendations to the Vice President of News.
● Continually expand contact lists and networks of news makers and experts
used as sources for information and original news stories.
● Research topics of interest and closely follow political, economic, military
and cultural developments affecting the broadcast region, including the
evolution of U.S. and international policies.
● Master the various pieces of technical equipment, including computers,
Dalet, FTP, and studio equipment, used in the performance of duties.
Monitor regional and international media outlets for analysis and
assessment, as well as exposure to developments in broadcast practices
and up-to-date technology.

Required ● Bachelors degree in journalism or broadcast journalism


● Excellent Arabic writing skills.
● Must be fluent in Classical Arabic and have sufficient English language
skills
● Strong news judgment and organizational skills.
● Good creative and editorial judgment. Mastery of journalistic ethics and
libel laws.
● Knowledge of story development and reporting in a clear, concise and

Primary Function Partner with assigned departments using a collaborative approach to provide
support, perspective and recommendations across a wide range of human
resource issues, including recruitment and selection, employee relations,
performance management, and compensation administration.
Duties ● Act as internal consultant by analyzing and recommending solutions to
human resources issues relating to assigned department and/or programs
● Ensure assigned departments/programs are in compliance with established

● Full life-cycle recruiting for assigned departments.
● Provide guidance to employees and managers on company policy, and

● Incumbent may be assigned to various project lead roles to advance the

● The incumbent will be asked to perform additional duties and take on other
responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.

Required ● A minimum of 4 years of experience providing direct Human Resources


management to a professional organization
● Bachelors degree
● Fluency in Classical Arabic required
● Current PHR or SPHR certification preferred
● Proficiency with Excel and demonstrated skills in database management
and record keeping.
● Background in compensation and benefits administration
● Solid experience investigating and resolving employee relations issues;

Primary Function The Quality Control Editor is responsible for ensuring the quality of network news
broadcasts. The Quality Control Editor reviews (and, where necessary, edits)
scripts, packages, and reports to ensure that The Networks journalistic standards
are consistently met. Reports are reviewed by the Quality Control Editor for:
accuracy and newsworthiness of material, balance consistent with the mission and
goals of The Networks, and use of appropriate language, syntax, and grammar.
The Quality Control Editor works closely with writers, producers and
correspondents and provides feedback to enhance the overall quality of news
programs. S/he provides leadership, direction, training, and motivation to
newsroom personnel so as to improve program quality and maximize productivity.
Duties ● Review, modify and approve scripts and copy before air, working closely
with writers, correspondents, producers and senior producers.
● Oversee editing of news stories.
● Provide feedback to correspondents and anchors on their delivery.
● Provide regular reports to the VP for Network News on the quality of The
Network’s news broadcasts and editorial processes; alert the VP to any
issues for resolution.
● Assess staff skills and work with individual staff members as necessary to
develop their skills and strengthen the quality of The Network’s news
broadcasts. Follow-up as necessary with individuals to track progress.
● Measure and monitor the quality of The Network’s news writing; provide
regular reports to the VP for Network News.
Watch and analyze newscasts; check for political and cultural sensitivities,
contextual, grammatical and typographical errors, and other mistakes or
substance or form.
● Follow political, economic, military and cultural developments affecting the
broadcast region, including the evolution of US and international policies.
● The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on
other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.

Required ● Bachelor's degree in journalism or broadcast journalism preferred.


● 10+ years experience producing television newscasts or significant senior
editorial and leadership positions at a major daily newspaper.

Position

Senior Producer - TV

United States Based Global Radio Network


Location Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia area - USA
Compensation to $107,000 with excellent benefits
Primary Function The Senior TV Producer is responsible for the creative development, production,
content quality of assigned programs; constructing fresh, informative, creative,
compelling newscasts, summaries, updates and assigned special event coverage,
ensuring balanced content consist with the mission goals of the company.
Determines and maintains the creative vision and look and feel of programs
aligned with the departments’ vision. Incumbent is responsible for overseeing the
writing and producing of the assigned news programs. Effectively leads and
produces new and innovative productions. Mentors and serves as a resource to
junior members of the staff. Demonstrates strong news judgment; ensure
journalistic standards of fairness, accuracy and relevancy. This position is central
to the successful ongoing operation of assigned programs and to maintaining
company broadcasting standards.
Duties ● Organize and stimulate the creative process and track performance of
assigned news team.
● Coordinate with Executive Producer and other Senior Producers and
Assignment Editors on selecting timely news material.
● Prepare format/rundown for newscast, summaries, updates or assigned
special event coverage
● Write stories for assigned newscasts
● Actively participate in editorial meetings
● Clearly understand the major stories of the day and their relationship to
the company mission and viewers
● Review all scripts for assigned newscasts to ensure that they adhere to
broadcast standards
● Obtain legal and editorial clearances from Executive Producer and VP, News
● Oversee all quality assurances and live content material.
● Ensure that all additional production details are completed, including
graphics, chyrons, etc.
● Provide Control Room with critical information regarding the timing,
content and execution of live shots while program is on-air.
● Ability to maintain composure in the control room
● Follow commands of Senior Supervising Producer in the control room when
breaking news is on the air.
● Aggressively pursue breaking news and assist Assignment Desk and other
newscast producers during coverage of breaking news
● Remain creative and cool under pressure
● Input and conduct final review of show content in media asset
management system to ensure a clean broadcast.
● Day-to-day production while maintaining a long vision for the direction of
assigned news programs.
❍ SUPERVISORY
● Supervise performance and development of assigned broadcast team
members; this may include anchors, producers, writers, associate
producers and production assistants
● Conduct annual performance planning for each team member
Provide appropriate and timely on-going performance feedback to assigned
team members to continually improve the quality of the broadcast.
● In consultation with Human Resources, prepare annual Performance
Planning and Appraisal Report for assigned team members.
❍ OTHER DUTIES:
● Assign and edit stories to writers on the team
● Contribute story ideas on a daily, weekly and long-range basis
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on
other responsibilities as dictated by events and circumstances.

Required ● Bachelors degree in journalism or broadcast journalism preferred


● 5+ years experience producing television newscasts
Excellent Arabic writing skills
● Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines
● Must be a strong, clear communicator with the ability to communicate with
multiple teams is required
● Must be able to present excellent project ideas in a cohesive and content
specific manner.
● Must be able to adapt to rapidly shifting priorities in fast-paced environment
Self starter with high level of initiative
● Must be deadline driven and detail-oriented – a strategic critical thinker
● Passionate, committed and high level of energy
● Strong sense of ownership and urgency
● Working knowledge and ability to operate a media asset management
system
● Ability to thrive in an environment requiring teamwork

● Exercise self-discipline and time-management skills
● Sound editorial and creative judgment is essential
● Must be able to accommodate flexible work schedule to support 24/7 news
environment including overnight coverage

Compensation to $250,000 to start
Summary Newly formed U.S. based Iranian News Network currently broadcasting in Farsi
and English is seeking a honed broadcasting executive to lead this satellite and
internet based news organization through the next phase of organizational and
operational development for commercial growth and success in their genre.
Duties ● Manage and grow strategically and tactically a current staff of 20
broadcasting professionals across all disciplines required to run a
professional broadcasting organization
● Establish formal structure and personnel definitions in line with industry
standards
● Assess current broadcast operations, transmission, production and post
production contracts and vendors and align the organization properly with
same.
● Drive advertising revenue across TV and Internet platforms by leading
sales personnel to optimize advertising agencies and direct client
relationships
● Work to produce News and Special Interest programming for domestic and
international markets that seek relevant Iranian news and information in
Farsi and English as well as advertisers seeking this desirable demographic.
● Set realistic strategic and tactical goals for execution that can be brought
to fruition in a fiscally responsible manner.
● Set budgets and oversee financial reporting to senior management
● Represent the broadcast organization to industry and external interests
● Assure that programming and content is produced, co-produced, acquired
and scheduled effectively and to the highest standards
● Manage an upbeat and rewarding broadcast corporate culture that attracts
and retains skilled broadcasting professionals
Remain sensitive to social, economic and political issues relevant to Iran,
the Iranian Community and U.S. Iranian Relations.
● Serve a diverse global Iranian community seeking democracy that speaks
Farsi and English with timely, accurate, well produced, fair and balanced
news and information across multiple media platforms.

Required ● The ability to work full-time in the DC, VA, MD area of the United States
● 10-15 years of broadcast leadership experience as a GM
● Experience building broadcast organizations
● Strong business, technical and creative acumen required to direct and
mentor staff
● A proven record of success with monetization; both front and back office
● Strong financial controls and reporting experience
● A sincere interest in geopolitical news relevant to the Middle East and Iran.
● Sensitivity to varied cultures.
● International broadcasting experience desired but not required
● English required; Farsi desired but not required.
● The ability to achieve the organization’s goals from a monetary and free
speech perspective relevant to a Democratic Iran.
