AGNI
THE SYMBOLISM OF THE ANCIENT
&
FOREMOST RITUAL

THE FIRE RITUAL

SEMINAR GIVEN BY
MASTER K.PARVATHI KUMAR
IN
PONCE DE LEON- PUERTO RICO
9TH JUNE 2002

THE CONTEXT:
We gathered on this Sunday by the Will of the Divine to experience the
Presence of the Divine through the Fire Ritual. The purpose of todays Fire
Ritual is fulfilled. The ritual contributes to qualitative improvement in our
energy system, which in turn should contribute to the society through acts of
Goodwill.

As desired, I shall endeavour to present in brief the profound symbolism of
Agni (Fire) and the symbolism of Fire Ritual as well.

Part 1

AGNI
ITS MEANING AND SIGNIFICANCE

INTRODUCTION
All creational work is the work of Fire. The Cosmic, the Solar and the
Planetary Devas work with Fire. All formations at all levels is work of Fire. Fire
is the essence of all existence. Fire is the basis of all life. Fire is the means of
development. Fire is the builder, the preserver and the destroyer. Fire is
purifier and is the consumer of all. Fire is God. God is Fire. From atom to
cosmos Fire stands as the basis. When the Fires blend and blaze the
apparent existence ceases. Seeming non-existence remains. The latter is
called God beyond creation. The former is called God in creation.

Fire is internal, inherent and latent. Fire is radiatory and emanating. Fire is
vivifying and stimulating. Fire transmits and transmutes. Fire is the originator.
Study of Fire and its work in creation itself elevates. Veda contains thousands
of verses praising Fire and describing its functions. Fire is called Agni in
Sanskrit. This work is dedicated to Agni to invoke Agnis blessings to one and
all associated with this work and with its reading.

ZERO POSITIVE & ZERO NEGATIVE
I wish to present to you the most sublime concept of AGNI, which exists as Cosmic Fire,
Solar Fire and as Frictional Fire. These 3 Fires are the basis for the 3 planes namely:
the Cosmic, the Solar and the Planetary.
Fire is called Agni in the Veda. When we say Agni it has a deeper meaning. The sound
A is the foremost of the sounds. All the alphabets begin with the letter A, thus is
number 1. Before number one it can only be zero. Zero is the potential Creation, the
Cosmic Egg, which would manifest in due course of time, and Fire is the basis for such
manifestation. All the planes of existence are the result of the work of Agni.
Agni transforms; transforms that which is subtle to gross and also transforms the gross
to subtle. In the beginning it is from subtle to gross and later from gross to subtle. The
evolution and involution is the work of Agni. Hence Agni is the basis of the Cosmic
Devas, Solar Devas and Planetary Devas. It is Him that even the Devas worship
because the whole work starts from Him. The whole creational work commences from
Him and He is the one who emerges from the unknown to the known as the Cosmic
Bang.

THE SPUR
From seeming nothingness there is a spur. That spur unfolds a great light, which forms
itself into a sphere. Then, the sphere receives a further spur; consequently the globe
unfolds into a lotus. When the globe unfolds into a lotus, many intelligences find their
expression. These intelligences are the cosmic intelligences. Thus, that which is called
Cosmic Fire is the first bang that happens from space static to space dynamic.
The dynamism in us is also Fire. We do not recognise the spur that awakens us in the
morning. What is it that awakens us in the morning? After it awakens, we know that we
are awakened. We do not awaken from sleep; we are awakened from sleep. Sleep is a
state of apparent non-existence; it is not non-existence, but it is apparent non-existence.
What is it that causes the static state of sleep into the dynamic state of awakening?
Unless something stimulates the static aspect into the dynamic aspect we would not
come to the awakened state. The stimulation comes from within the static state of
existence.
Seldom, we pay attention to that intelligence in us which causes the awakening. After
awakening, yes, we have a lot of activity; but what is it that caused the awakening? That
is the link between seeming non-existence to apparent existence, which Madam
Blavatsky defines as "From seeming nothingness to apparent something", Master E.K.
puts it as "From negative zero to positive zero". Zero negative is static, zero positive is
dynamic. The seeming non-existence is capable of manifestation. We walk into the zero
negative when we walk into the new moon hours, nil-ness. When we walk into the full
moon hours it is walking into fullness or zero positive.

ELECTRIC FIRE
Thus, nil-ness is the basis for fullness. Fullness is a spring up from that which is called
nil-ness. Thus, this spur in Creation and the spur that happens in us every morning is an
electrical function and is described in the scriptures as Electric Fire. That Fire exists in
the Cosmos and that Fire exists in our brain cells. Please remember, the brain cells are
electric. Sahasrara is electric, its outermost or most externalised point is Aja. It comes
out as a point of light.
Thus, Agni is the Foremost One. Beyond Agni there is nothing to be comprehended,
because beyond Agni there is no one to comprehend. There should be a secondary
state to observe the primary state. In deep sleep state, what is it we observe? In
slumber, Existence is there but the awareness of Existence is not. In that slumber state,
awareness is latent and unmanifest. It is a state of Pure Existence. That is called the
"God beyond Creation", the "Absolute God".
When the spur comes, from that slumber there is the awakening. That cause of
awakening is the "Foremost One", and that should be understood as Agni. The ancients
believed in worshipping Agni because, He is the Foremost One and all other Cosmic
Intelligences including the Consciousness, which is called the Light, is the Light of the
Cosmic Spur, the Light of Agni.
Thus, even the Cosmic Light is secondary to it. The Light of Awareness details into a
trinity as: Cosmic Will, Cosmic Love and Cosmic Intelligence. Even before the trinity,
there is the Cosmic Consciousness, and even for the birth of that Cosmic
Consciousness there is the need of the spur. It is that spur that brings the Essence into
the creational process. It has itself become Agni and manifests as the Cosmic Light and
further manifests as the Cosmic First, Second and Third Logos. Then the Cosmic Devas
unfold, and conduct the sacrifice of the Essence (the pure existence) with the help of
Agni. Agni is the one who has to bring the Essence from the unknown circles to the
known circles of the Cosmic Light and creation.

THE ALL-CONSUMING SACRIFICE
Agni manifests the Cosmic Light, the Cosmic triple Logos and the Cosmic Devas. The
Devas conduct a sacrifice of the Essence called "The Unspeakable, Unknowable,
Unthinkable God". That Essence is the pure existence. One cannot speak about that
Essence. One cannot give a name to that Essence. One cannot give a form to it,
because all cosmic, solar and planetary forms come out of that Essence and that
Essence is brought by Agni as the creation through a ritual carried out by the Devas.
When Agni brings that Essence, the Cosmic Devas conduct a sacrifice to prepare a
Creation of 7 planes. The 7 planes are filled with that Essence. They constitute the
Planetary bodies, their rulers and the planetary beings that reside therein. All that work
is conducted by the Devas with the help of Agni. If Agni does not cooperate, the
Essence does not come up to them. Unless the Essence comes up to them, the Devas
cannot conduct the sacrifice. That which Devas sacrifice to prepare the Creation, is
nothing but the Original Essence. That Essence is put to the sacrifice through Agni and
that sacrifice is called "The All Consuming Sacrifice".
It is "The All Consuming Sacrifice", because without that Essence being consumed, not
even a mosquito can be formed. If a mosquito is to be, that Essence is to be in the
mosquito. That Essence is in the atom, that Essence is in the mineral, that Essence is in
the matter, in water, in the Fire that which we see, in the air, in the ether, in all the
planes, and in all the beings of all the planes because without the Essence nothing can
be prepared. It is the spirit.
To sum up the Fire consumes the essence and forms all that is. Similarly the Fire can
also consume all formations to the Essence. Hence it is called "The All - consuming
Fire." We have similar statements in the Old Testament: "Our God is all consuming
Fire". It refers to the Lord consuming back the whole Creation into itself. But the Lord
Himself has formed as all this Creation with the help of Fire, and with the help of Fire
only He can consume it back. We have to contemplate upon this.

The Lord Himself has formed as all this Creation with the help of Fire, and with the help
of Fire only He can consume it back.

THE FIERY BREATH
The Essence is consumed to form the creation with the help of Agni. The creations are
once again consumed fully by the Essence with the help of Agni. That means, to
breathe out the worlds Agni is required, and to breathe in the worlds Agni is required. If
we have to breathe well, there should be enough Fire in us. If there is not adequate Fire
in us we cannot breathe in and breathe out effectively. Madam Blavatsky refers in her
epic Secret Doctrine to "the fiery breaths" which are responsible for manifestation and
de-manifestation.
When Fire breathes out (exhalation), the worlds are formed. When Fire breathes in, the
worlds get back into their original state. To give an example: the vapour, through
condensation -that is, through reduction in Fire, becomes water. Water, through further
reduction of Fire, becomes ice cube. Thus, ice cube, water and vapour, essentially are
all one; but they differ in their states of existence. There is also difference in their
qualities due to different degrees of Fire that exist in them.
The quality of vapour is the vertical movement. The quality of water is to move
horizontally or downwards. The quality of ice cube is static Thus the same Essence,
with a difference in its state, behaves differently. What is the cause for this difference? -
The degree of Agni as between vapour, water and ice cube. It is only Agni that causes
the difference in the state; it should not been seen as difference in the Essence. There
is no difference in the Essence; there is difference in the state. The Essence has no
different states. It is Essence where ever it is. This must be meditated.

It is only Agni that causes the difference in state; it should not be seen as difference in
the Essence. There is no difference in Essence; there is difference in state. The
essence has no different states. It is essence where ever it is.

From the spiritual principle that we are, up to the bones that we carry in our body, the
Essence is one. Be it bone or be it the element in the brain; essentially it is one. The
element in the brain is electrical full of Fire, while in the bone the Fire is hidden and
inactive. Greater the degree of Fire subtler is the form, lesser is the degree of Fire
grosser is the form. By state it is different because of Agni. Bone is solid, strong, and is
dense physical. The fluids of the brain are seemingly liquids when they are taken out,
but they are not liquid when they are in the brain cells.
The example of the vapour, water and ice cube is the classic example to make our
comprehension easy in relation to the unity of the Essence and the diversity of the
states of Existence.
All this diversity is the work of the Fire. Hence, Agni is even worshipped by the Cosmic
Devas without whose cooperation nothing is possible; the involution is not possible, the
evolution is not possible and this existence of the world is not possible.

D-MAT
Agni causes formation and de-formation. There is materialisation from subtle to gross,
and dematerialisation.
Now we are thinking in terms of dematerialisation, called, the electronic concept of "D-
mat". The electronic process of dematerialization is called "D-mat". We are now also
speaking with abbreviated terms, like CD for compact disk, PC for personal computer.
Likewise, everything is abbreviated from its elaboration. It is also a process of
dematerialisation. The names of the Masters are also abbreviated; we say K.H., D.K.,
M.N., C.S.G., or E.K., C.V.V. This is also a process relating to the return.
We have now "D-mat" shares certificates of corporate bodies where we dont see any
certificate of shares as a paper, but it is there electronically. We dont have so much
transportation of paper in the form of letters, now it has become e-mail. The letter is
there but not the paper. So, no more paper work; the paper has taken to the etheric
form; it is electronic paper. Much paper is reduced. We dont have airline paper tickets,
we have e-tickets, they dont even call them electronic tickets but just e-ticket, e-mail, e-
correspondence, e-documentation. Every thing is lifting itself up from the gross physical
to the subtle.
Already things are tending into the subtle. Man also tends into the subtle and moves in
air. That is a prophecy. Not only the paper is de-materialised even the human being will
also dematerialise in future and will become an e-man. E-man means "etheric man",
which is prophesied as the Superman.
All this is the work of Agni. He is the foremost one and stands first to all that we know. It
is the Will before the Will that we know, before the Love that we know, before the Light
that we know and even before the Life that we know. Anything we name is secondary to
Agni. That is Agni!
Agni is the cause of creational manifestation and de-manifestation. It brings the
Essence into the smallest detail, remains with the Essence and takes back the
Essence; it remains even in the atom. That is why when we cause the fission of the
atom we can see how much Fire emerges. Thus, it is not by quantitative dimension that
we can decide the degree of the presence of Agni.

THE ACCOMPLISHED ONE
Agni is a principle of great interest for the seekers of Truth. Unless we know Agni, we
have known nothing. If we have known a few dimensions of wisdom it is something, if
we have known the Intelligences of Creation, we have known something, but if we have
known Agni, we have known everything, because Agni knows everything.
The ways of Creation are known to Agni. We will know the most intricate ways or Paths
of Creation, when we know Agni.
When we read the books of Master Djwhal Khul it looks that there is nothing that he
does not know. How did it become possible? -He worked with Agni. His teacher of Agni
was Master Morya. It is from Master Morya that Master Djwhal Khul learned all about
Agni. That is why he could give such Cosmic wisdom and when we read his books we
get stunned. There are no recent expositions of ancient most wisdom other than the
teachings of Master Djwhal Khul, coming through HPB, AAB and Master E.K. This is
because Master Djwhal Khul was initiated into Agni. In fact Djwhal Khul is the title given
to him by his teachers considering the energy that he carries. The name means a bunch
of flames, garland of flames.
All the Fire Philosophers are those who have known the philosophy of Fire. When you
know the philosophy of Fire, alchemy is your knowledge. Because, the alchemy of the
universe is conducted by Fire. Hence, all those who seek the ultimate knowledge,
worship Fire, they worship Agni. Through Agni they worship the Essence, through Agni
they worship the Cosmic, Solar and Planetary Devas. Whosoever receives the favour of
Agni, becomes accomplished.

THE FLAME
The Electric Agni is invisible. He is also invisible in matter which is called Frictional Fire.
The Fire in matter is not visible, and when it is made visible, the matter transforms.
When we observe the wooden sticks of fuel, the Fire is in the stick, when we bring out
the Fire from the stick where is the wooden stick? The wooden stick is no more. So,
what is the Essence of the stick? -The Fire.
Just like the stick, anything can be burnt, including the human body. The human body
also carries the Fire. Because it carries Fire, when we ignite Fire to any body or form, it
disappears into Electric Fire. Through the process of enlightening or kindling, the Fire is
stimulated in the matter that means the Fire of the matter is put to spur, that the Fire
would ascend and even take the form along with it. The form of the ice block with little
Fire becomes water; the ice block looses its shape and takes to its higher form, water.
Water, when put to Fire takes to still a higher form, vapour. If we add more Fire to an
existing form, it enables that form to take to its higher state.
If we wish to move into a higher state or subtler state, we have to put ourselves to some
Fire. That is how; putting oneself to contemplation of Fire has come to be one of the
most important practices.

The Electric Fire is invisible, the Frictional Fire is invisible, the Solar Fire is visible. The
Solar Fire is the middle point between the Electric Fire and the Frictional Fire, and that
is seen as the flame.
That flame is magical, hence the contemplation upon the flame. When there is flame,
the candle slowly takes to a higher state of existence. The existence of the flame
causes modifications to the candle from grosser to subtle. The flame is also the bridge
between the invisible Electric Fire and the invisible Frictional Fire. The invisible Electric
Fire and the invisible Frictional Fire are bridged by the flame.
The Electric Fire is the Spirit and the Frictional Fire is the Matter. How do we build a
bridge between matter and spirit in ourselves? -We enflame the matter. When we
enflame, the flame emerges to link up that which is higher in us. The process
is Pranayaama.
Observe how the arc lamp light is lit, we pump the flame, which is made from alcohol or
petrol as the liquid. This liquid is first put to ignition, then the flame comes, and then we
keep on pumping till the flame goes higher and higher to touch the mantle. Once the
mantle gets the touch of the flame, it illumines. The illumination of the mantle is
thousand times more than the illumination of the flame. The illumined mantle is the Soul
We should introduce much Fire into our activity so that the flame moves up and up and
up, reaches the Brow Centre and tries to reach the filament, which is in Aja Centre.
Once theAja Centre receives it, the whole Cerebro spinal system is illumined. Then,
one is called the Enlightened One, because the filaments of his brain shine forth like a
big bulb!
To ensure that the filaments get enlightened, the spur is given to the Fire of matter and
then we keep on fanning it until the flame reaches higher. This process of fanning is
calledpranayaama, an essential step in Yoga. The Fire in the matter is called
the Kundalini Fire.

FROM INVISIBLE TO VISIBLE
The Kundalini Fire is Frictional Fire, when it is below the diaphragm. When it is above
the diaphragm, it is already Solar Fire, and when it reaches the brain, it is Electric Fire.
The Electric Fire causes enlightenment of the brain cells. The process is from friction to
solar and from solar to electric.
Now there is the Raja Yoga Path, which is like the electric bulb. The electric bulb does
not go through the process of friction, flaming etc. Electricity works from above
downwards; from invisible to visible it happens. Electricity is not visible, but it can
illuminate. Electricity is not visible but we can experience it as electrical light, electrical
fan, etc. It is a process from invisible to visible.
Thus, there is a process of moving from visible to invisible and there is also a process
moving from invisible to visible, both relate to Fire. In anyway Fire seems to be the
means to accomplish the Soul, which includes in it the Electric Fire as well as the
Frictional Fire. Remember, Soul is a product of Spirit and Matter and is the resplendent
Light. Neither the Electric Fire nor the Frictional Fire are visible. Solar Fire is the only
visible Fire. Its chief characteristic is illumination. In us also, the Spirit and Matter exist.
The process of linking them up results in our illumination as Soul. This process is the
Path of Yoga. Thus the Agni is also the means to know the details of all the 7 planes of
Existence, through the link up of the three Fires

PURIFICATION
When we do Fire Ritual we use dry sticks but not wet sticks. Dry means already capable
of enflaming; wet means not capable. Wet cannot be burnt easily. Before burning they
have to be dried. Wet sticks do not burn, because the wetness does not enable the Fire
to enflame. That wetness in us is called emotion, that wetness in us is also called
impurity. Fire cannot be ignited when there is emotion and impurity. We need to first dry
up the wetness of the emotions by seeking help from the Fire. Before offering the sticks
to Fire, the sticks are put to heat and the wetness is dried. It boils the emotions into
vapours. When the sticks are free from the wetness of emotions they are ready for
enflaming. Drying of the sticks is needed for the mind to be enflamed into the Light
of Buddhi. When these dried up sticks are used and are offered to Fire, we see splinters
from the enflamed sticks. This is because even when the sticks are free from the
wetness of emotions, some bubbles of air get locked within the dried sticks, just as
some concepts get concretised within an aspirant. When the sticks are put to Fire, Agni
even expels these concretised concepts of an aspirant just as the air bubbles from the
sticks, in the form of splinters. These splinters are the expelled concretised concepts.
The burning splinters from the Fire are the little pin-pricks on the Path. Though the
sticks are dried up from emotions they still contain many concepts that are concretised.
Fire also breaks these concretised concepts and enflaming moves on. This is the
activity of purification that Fire does at emotional and mental levels. Just as the Fire, a
true Treacher of Wisdom also does the act of purification

A true Teacher of Wisdom evaporates emotions through introducing the student into the
practices of Praanayaama (and its related discipline). What the Teacher of Wisdom
does is, he puts the student to emotional boiling. From out of the boiling, the vapours
come, those vapours are collected by the Teacher and the Teacher condenses them as
pure waters of love, compassion sympathy and understanding through imparting the
first two steps of Yoga namely Yama, Niyama. The difference between dirty waters and
pure waters is the dirt. The dirt is filtered, waters are distilled and pure waters of life are
restored. Then the Teacher of Wisdom also burns up concretised thoughts through
elaborate discourses on Wisdom. Concretised thoughts are the limitations of the student
to progress on the Path

In the occident, this habit of working with the Fire has come to be lightening a candle.
We are supposed to look at the flame and visualize that flame in our forehead and
further visualise that it is inflaming all the impurities of the body at the mental, emotional
and physical planes. When that is done regularly we are assisted by Fire to overcome
our limitations.

With the help of Agni we can burn up our impurities, and also burn up our deeper traits.
The worship of Agni enables us to burn up our impurities, burn up the deeper traits,
which exist in our psyche, burn up the past karma, and also ensure our recruitment in
the "Path of Light". It also ensures that we do not fall into temptations and illusions. It
helps us to make the senses more radiant, make the mind more brilliant and enables us
to progress on the Path, without hindrance. When such work is done regularly with the
flame of the Fire, many benefits are bestowed on us, to progress on the Path.

THE FIERY TRIPLICITY
If in our horoscope we have many planets in the watery signs, we are generally a wet
person. If we have planets in the fiery signs, there is enough Fire in us. If there are
many planets in air, the work of the Fire has already happened to some extent.
Likewise we can interpret the horoscopes by seeing how much matter, water, air and
fire are there in us. Those who dont have any planet in a fiery sign dont have to worry.
By progression the planets move into fiery signs; at that time we have to take advantage
and do the fiery work, with fiery aspiration
Among the 3 sun signs of Fire, Sagittarius is the Frictional Fire, the Fire in the Base
Centre. When this Fire is stimulated, the Kundalini energy in Muladhara moves
upwards. The fist 13 degrees of Sagittarius offer the possibility of
stimulating Kundalini Fire in Muladhara. When this Fire is stimulated man enters into the
Path of service to the fellow beings and accomplishes great sacrifices in the Path of
service. The mutable sign Sagittarius through service links up to its 10 house, the goal,
in clockwise direction and reaches Pieces, the higher counter part of Virgo, which is
again the 10 house to Sagittarius in the anti clockwise direction. This is the Path of
service suggested to Sagittarians to reach the highest point of illumination represented
by Pieces. This Path is symbolically presented in Mahabharatha. Arjuna was given a
bow and an arrow and was asked to hit the 2 fishes that are located high above, looking
into their reflection in the water below. Reflection of Pieces is in its counter part Virgo,
the earthy sign. Looking to the reflection means, looking to serve since Virgo represents
service. The key note of Virgo is, "labour without remuneration." Arjuna being a
Sagittarian served the Divine Plan and sacrificed himself to it. He attained the highest
point of illumination through such sacrifice. Thus Arjuna is stated to have hit the two
fishes above.
Thus enflaming the Frictional Fire demands, service to the fellow beings to the society.
People who do Fire ritual should know that they have to dedicate themselves to service
without which the Kundalini Fire is not ignited. The Sagittarian is an archer. He can
therefore shoot upwards, meaning he can enable the Fire to move upward. The
Sagittarian is also a Judge. The judge helps to hit the target precisely without fail. The
lord of Sagittarius is Jupiter. Therefore a Sagittarian does well, when he is associated
with Jupiter. Jupiter means a Teacher, a Master of wisdom, a Guru. Arjuna was blessed
in this aspect also, since the Lord himself stood by him as his teacher (Krishna).
Leo is the Solar Fire and Aries is the Electric Fire. These are the 3 Fires in the zodiac.
The month of Aries gives us the presence of the Electric Fire; that is why it is said to be
the top-most sun sign. That is why Aries is regarded as the head, including the
eyebrows. It is the crown of the zodiac. The highest illumination is possible in the head,
since it is electrical. Once the head is illumined the whole system is illumined. The Path
of Fire is well accomplished when the head is illumined and is attuned to the Divine
Plan.
The crown of the king is Aries, throne of the king is Leo, and the horse on which he is
mounts is Sagittarius. This is the triple fiery symbol to be meditated upon. If the king
holds the rod of the law it is much more an accomplished state; it means that he is a
Grand Master of Wisdom that establishes the Law. The rod that he holds represents the
rod of Justice.

THE LAW
The beings in Creation are held by the law, but the Masters of Wisdom hold the law;
that is all the difference. The spear of the law applies upon the lawless. The beings
have to understand the law and follow the law, which relates to the work of Sagittarius.
Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius gives the law. That is why Sagittarius is considered to be
"the sign of judges". A Sagittarian can clearly see what is the left side of a concept and
what is the right side of a concept because the judges are unbiased. The judge is one
who can see the middle path between two seemingly opposite view points. The judge
only can see what is the truth in between the two.
Thus, the law is given by Jupiter and it is necessitated by Saturn in Libra and Pluto in
Scorpio. Following the Law is optional but Saturn necessitates following the Law. For
example, to eat what is suitable to the body is the law. If we do not eat what is suitable
to the body, Saturn will cause indigestion and the consequent pain, and we will learn
from the pain. If we have to call for a doctor, that doctor is again Jupiter. Jupiter not only
treats us but also gives us an advice not to eat indifferently. Jupiter only gives advises,
he is not punitive. But when the advise of Jupiter is not listened to, then the policeman
of Saturn will come. When the law is not followed, Saturn comes in. A much more
effective policeman is Pluto. Pluto is times deeper than Saturn.
This is how the law is learnt necessarily by people through pain or through fear of pain.
Until it is learned the higher step is not gained. There is the law as to, how to use the
body, senses, mind and intellect in relation to the world. At each step we have to learn
the related law and work by justice to live in freedom in this world.

OTHER ASPECTS OF AGNI
Agni details itself from 1 to 3, 3 to 4, 4 to 7, from 3 times four to 12, from 12 to 24, to
48,49 to 98, to 100, to 1000 and to a series of zeros thereof.
Every Fire has a distinct function, meaning and even name which are essentially
spiritual. This is number key relating to Agni which will be explained separately in the
"Occult Meditations".
Agni is the carrier of Divine spark. Where there is Spirit there is Agni. Where there is
Agni there is Spirit. Nothing exists in creation without Agni and the related Spirit. Agni is
therefore worshiped as the omniscient God.
The Seven Seers, Rishis are the Seven friends of Agni. They are the seven heads of
Agni. The Veda considers them as the Seven horses. " Seven horses move a car of
Seven wheels and Seven wise-men mount it along with Seven fecund nymphs of
water."
Ashwins the Cosmic twins also emerged from Agni. They form at all Successive planes,
the container and the content. They are called Mitra and Varuna. The 12 Adityas, the
radiating principles that manifest the 12 qualities of the Sun through Zodiac are the
products of Agni. The Seven Rishis and 12 Adityas weave the 84 essential species of
creation.
The Electric Fire is called Pawaka or Vaidyuta. The Solar Fire is called Suchi or Soura.
The Frictional Fire is called Pawamana or Nirmatya.
In India the worship of Fire is the most ancient. To them Agni is foremost. They consider
Him the refulgent Deity from whom seven tongues of flames emerge and a thousand
streams of glory. In honour of Fire they maintain perpetual Fires for ages. Its a special
Path of purification followed.
It is interesting to note that one of the seven tongues of Fire is black in its colour. Black
represents darkness. Darkness is the basis for subsequent manifestation of life. This
dark tongue of Fire is called Kali meaning the Black. It is a black flickering flame that
you can see in the Fire Ritual. It is also called Krishna. Black includes all the seven
colours and is the mother of them. In India worship of Kali and Krishna is considered as
the highest form of worship. In modern times people fear black. Darkness should be
understood as absolute light. Only seers can pursue it. Master Morya speaks
elaborately of the beauty of darkness. All theologies of ancient times respected
darkness. Nova also sends out a black raven after the deluge. Black is the beginning
and the ending of the creation. It indicates the pre-cosmic state.
The Electrical Fire, the Solar Fire and the Frictional Fire represent the Trinity. On the
human plane they represent Spirit, Soul and Body. These three Fires are born over and
over again to create several planes of existence.
All is Fire, Agni. Agni is Ignis. The work of Ignis is ignition. The whole creation is the
work of Fire, ignition. He is the creator, preserver and the destroyer. All the primary
Cosmic principles are fiery in nature. It is the Fire that causes the whole movement.
Fire, Air and Sun are the three occult degrees of Fire. They are called Agni, Vayu and
Surya.
The Cosmic desire is one of the forms of Agni that propels the creation into involution
and again into evolution.
The 49 Fire are the 49 states of Kundalini distributed as seven times seven in between
the seven centres.

THE LAWS OF FIRE:
The Trinity are represented by the functioning of the three Laws of Fire. The essence of
Trinity is Fire. When Trinity manifest three Laws function through them. They are named
in English by Master DK as the Law of Economy, the Law of Attraction and Repulsion
and the Law of Synthesis. The Matter, its formation and its manifestation are all
governed by the Law of Economy, presided over by Creator (Brahma). This Law
distributes matter through scattering of atoms and through their disassociation with one
another. The atoms are separated and segregated and heterogeneity is created. That is
how the forms are made different from one another. Their action is also made different.
The Law also causes rotation of Matter. The Matters activity is seen as rotary activity.
The second Law governs the Soul with its pairs of opposites. Spirit and Matter are the
two opposing poles when the Law of Economy comes into operation. The second Law
works out gradual approximation of the two poles. Matter ad Spirit are brought together
to be presided over by the Soul. In the approximation process there is a lot of attraction
and repulsion. Since Matter and Spirit operate in two divergent ways, there is pull and
push. The whole creation is held through polar opposites. The opposites are to be
realized as complementary. This Law presides over the activity of finding the
complementary nature of the seeming opposites. This is considered as the Law of
Attraction and Repulsion. This Law is presided over by Vishnu, the second Logos, while
Brahma is the third Logos.

While the Law of Economy is rotary in motion, the Law of Attraction and Repulsion is
spiralic in motion. Spiral also has a rotary motion but each time it takes to a higher ring.
This is indicative of evolutionary movement. Ring after the ring in spiral leads one to
higher states of awareness and gradually releases from the conditioning of Matter. As
beings grow in awareness they embark upon the path of virtues, upon service, upon
less selfish expressions. Beings governed by the Law of Economy are selfish and are
conditioned by Matter. Generally in humanity the conflict is between those who are
selfish and those who are working out to be virtuous. Since the two greats exist in
humanity, conflict also co-exists.

Even when beings try to practice virtues there old habits of vices pull them down
frequently. There is fight between virtues and vices within every man. That is how men
practicing virtues have an inner fight within themselves. They wish to practice virtues
but the old habits do not let them. This is the state of an aspirant attempting to be a
disciple. There is a constant fight in him, between his ideals and his habits. This is the
duality of human being. He swings from one to the other. As much as he tries to
practice virtues, so much opposition also comes from within. Man needs to understand
that he should make a gradual shift of emphasis and that he cannot make sudden leaps
into consciousness.

Religions promote virtues but they also teach hatred towards vices. They preach
contempt for evil and its condemnation. Such religions leave the human beings in
conflict, hatred, contempt, condemnation should be known as vices. Promotion of good
need not be concurrent with despise for evil. Darkness and light, ignorance and
knowledge, virtue and vice, are but two poles of the One. The virtuous need not hate
the viscous ones. Knowledge need not slight at ignorance. Such are the general acts in
the field of human activity and hence humanity is considered as ruled by conflict.

As said earlier, approximation of two poles in a gradual manner to work for one and to
tolerate the other is the key. Initiates demonstrate this. They are tolerant. They are
compassionate towards ignorant ones. They do not entertain hatred. They remain
neutral while subtly they promote practices that lead to better awareness. Those are the
ones who stand as examples for approximation of dualities. The great initiate
Pythagoras stated that seeming opposites are complementary to each other. Isha
Upanishad is the most outstanding Upanishad that gives the key of Law of Attraction
and Repulsion. The Solar God, the embodiment of the Solar Fire balances between the
Cosmic and the Planetary existences. Man experiences the Soul when he balances the
Spirit and Matter in him and realizes himself as their golden middle point. This golden
middle point is the path of yoga promoted by the seers of Synthesis of all times. Such is
the ancient wisdom.

The Law of Synthesis is the final Law presided over by the first Logos (Shiva). When the
polarities are merged with the totality, man stands in Synthesis. In Synthesis only One
existence is experienced through variety of forms. This is the ultimate experience which
is spoken by the great adept Adi Shankara. His Adyaitha speaks of the One existence.
Adyaitha means "A"(Not) + "Dyaitha"(Two), meaning "not two". There is only One
existence, One life and One awareness in many patterns and forms. This synthesis is
the essence of the Veda. The Yoga of Synthesis is well laid out in Bhagavadgeetha, the
celestial song of the Lord. 35 verses in Bhagavadgeetha direct the reader with this
comprehension of Synthesis. The related practice is also given. Permeation is the
function of Synthesis. The one who reaches Synthesis permeates.

For those interested in astrology I may also add that, sun signs: Libra, Gemini and
Aquarius are the three sun signs through which the three Laws can be experienced in
the Aquarian age. All the three are airy signs. Libra demands transcendence of material
passion. Gemini demands transcendence of dualities. Aquarius suggests permeation of
consciousness beyond dualities. The glyphs of this science carry this message.

These three Laws are elaborately explained as the work of Fire in the "Treatise on
Cosmic Fire" (given by Master DK to Madam Alice A Bailey). As said earlier it is all the
work of Fire

Part 2.
THE FIRE RITUAL

SACRED TREES
I would like to inform you that the sticks of fuel (Samidha) prepared from the sacred
trees enable us to have a better impact of the flame on us than any other wood material.
The flame relating to the sacred sticks of fuel is qualitatively different from the flame
relating to the wax. No doubt that the candle made out of wax gives the flame. Gas also
gives the flame, but qualitatively the flame that comes from the sticks of sacred trees
have a different impact. For example the sticks of the Cedar tree, Ceiba tree, Pine trees,
Ficus Religiosa, Banyan tree (Ficus Bengalensis) and Fig tree are beneficial. The
smoke generated has healing impact. The flame causes uprising of energies when
looked at. The colours of the flame have relation to the etheric centres of our body. The
Banyan tree is said to carry the First Ray energy, the Ficus Religiosa is said to carry the
Second Ray energy. We can also use the sticks from the Mango tree, it is also
considered sacred. The best among them is the Sandalwood tree, which of course is
very costly.
(These trees were verified and found extremely useful by the seers of ancient time. Any
ritual done with these sacred trees has a great impact on the person). The secret of the
sacred tree is that it carries abundant Fire in it which is not so with other trees. Again
Fire generated from vegetable kingdom is considered superior to Fire generated from
the mineral Kingdom, such as Petrol, Gasoline, etc. Even meditations carried out under
the shade of these trees have a great impact. Water in which the roots of these trees
are soaked carries a great healing effect.
Many attained initiations while meditating under these trees. Even today at the cave
temple in Shigatze there is a huge Ficus Religiosa tree, resplendent with golden colour.
There, meetings happen in relation to the members of the White Brotherhood. This is
only to give you some idea about the need to select the right sticks for ritual. Master
Morya specially mentions the Cedar and the Ceiba (silk cotton) trees that grow in
Himalayas.
We ensure that sticks are dry. We also ensure that the tree is not cut for the sake of the
fuel. We just collect the fallen stags and stems. That is good enough. Ahimsa is
important. We cant cut a tree for the sake of our Fire ritual. Such is the understanding
of the Masters.
Every tree, huge and tall, is seen to be a great saint by its own right. On the branches of
these trees, it is believed that invisible beings keep meditating. That is why, if we
meditate under the shade of these trees, we have an added advantage for meditation.
The tree blesses us, the beings on the tree also bless us, and we would be charged
with the right kind of vibration in meditation. Exceptionally tall trees bring Solar energy in
abundance, which is needed for up-lifting of consciousness. Working with trees is,
again, a special wisdom. So much for the present.
From time to time, when you go to the forest you may collect the related stems and
stags of the tree or collect the wood from a fallen tree. The trees, which I have
mentioned, are available here (Porto Rico)
In fact, the various herbal materials used in the Fire ritual, are energetically related to
different cosmic intelligences. The Deva is pleased when the related energy is offered
as food. Our sister Margarita is pleased when she is invited for a pizza, and I am
pleased with rice. When we invite a guest we try to offer food that which is liked by the
guest, but not that which we like. If I give the food, which I like, to all of you, it is a
missionary work. To give the food, which is acceptable to you, is an act of love and
respect. So are the Devas too. They are pleased when we offer through Fire, food that
which is energetically agreeable to them. Each Devas energy is experienced and such
energy is recognised in the plant kingdom. The herb and plant matching with the energy
of Deva is offered, invoking Him through right sound. Such is the Ritual. Please
remember that animal meet/ flesh or alcoholic liquids are not used in Ritual. Metals are
also not used. The Ritual is wholly vegetarian! (All laugh aloud). In black magic, flesh,
alcohol, spirit, kerosene and petrol are used. Even human flesh is used in black magic.
The Fire Ritual relating to black magic commences at midnight hours. While the rituals
of white magic work are during twilight hours. There are few exceptional nights where
they prolong into midnight hours.
The scientists of the spiritual kingdom realised energies relating to various cereals,
pulses and medicinal herbs corresponding to the Planetary, Solar and Cosmic Devas
and utilised them accordingly. For instance, the chickpea carries Jupiterean energies,
lentils carry Saturnian energies. Do you know that rice comes from Venus? And that
wheat comes from Jupiter? Dont think that everything is belonging to the Earth, they
are all arranged in the subtle plane from other planets. Likewise, the varieties of
material in the plant kingdom can be traced to their planetary energy, solar energy and
cosmic energy. Collection of sticks and collection of herbs for the Fire Ritual has such
background work. Such is the importance of collecting the sacred wood for the sacred
Fire. To invoke the sacred Fire we need to use the sacred mediums. That is how the
sacred sticks are collected and the herbs relating to variety of Devas are also collected.
The beauty of India is that, it retained the wisdom. Most of the people in India may not
be able to let you know the science behind the tradition. I have made a study for two
decades, to gain the scientific understanding of the many traditional practices in India.
When the science behind the tradition is known and explained, then, many people are
willing to take to the ancient tradition. It is so in the west also. In fact the west has better
scientific quest than the east. In the east only the modern mind looks for the science
behind the tradition. There are many teachers who can impart such knowledge.

THE COW
To enflame the Fire in the sticks, cow ghee (clarified butter) is used. The cow ghee has
relation to our Aja Centre. The dried up cow dung is also important, if we are not able
to find the right kind of sticks. The secondary preference is the dried up cow dung.
The cow is a very special animal. Hindus worship the cow not only as a matter of
sentiment but also as a matter of science. The urine of the cow maintains the Ph of the
soil, to ensure that the soil is not of excessively acid or alkaline. Recently, science
confirmed it. If the fields have to be fertile maintaining the right Ph level, the cows
should be allowed to move into the fields and graze regularly. Then the soil vibrates with
fertility, with the absorption of cow urine.
Five products of the cow are mixed in an appropriate proportion and taken as a drink to
purify the 5 layers of the body. Before we do a Vedic ritual, we ensure that the body is
pure, up to the causal level. The man who does the ritual is asked to take a cup of an
admixture of 5 products of the cow. The 5 products are: cow urine, cow dung, cow milk,
cow butter, and cow ghee. These 5 products are all mixed in a certain proportion. The
future science will confirm the scientific part of this practice. It has medicinal value to
restitute the 5 elements in the body.
THE EIGHTH PLANE
The Cow is understood to carry extra-terrestrial energies, meaning, the 8th plane
substance, which is called "GO". Gpala, Gvinda, these names relate to the essence
of the 8th plane, meaning, that which is beyond the 7 planes. The Cosmic Christ
principle is said to be of number 8 potency. That is why we say that the number of
Christ is 8. The cow is called Go in Sanskrit.
The number of Krishna is also 8. He was born as the 8th child, and on the 8th moon
phase. He is the one who came from 8th plane which is beyond 7 planes, that is why He
is called Gvinda, Gpala. G is a double sound, a combination of the energies of
Jupiter and the Sun. GA is the sound of Jupiter, in Sanskrit and O is the sound of Sun -
the solar energy which prevails in the cosmic, solar and planetary levels. GA is
Jupitarean sound. O is Solar sound. PA is Venetian and LA is Neptunian. Thus Gopala
is a sound that synthesises in it the energies of Jupiter (expression), of Sun
(consciousness), of Venus (experience of love, beauty and splendour) and of Neptune
(the muse, the deeper attunement). Such is the Planetary combination of the name
Gopala, Lord Krishna. The Sanskrit sounds and names carry the science of sound a
profound occult key. For the moment let us understand cow and Go, meaning
expansive consciousness. Cow products have ability to cause expansion of
consciousness when rightly used. Such is the Vedic understanding. The seers of
ancient times knew the energy of cow and cow products and therefore treated it as
sacred animal. They even went on identifying the variety of Devas of three planes with
various parts of the body of cow! Hence a Hindu is deeply affected when a cow is killed
or even ill-treated. Cow meat was never human food in ancient India.
Again Jupiter (G) is the Teacher and the Sun (O) is the Ruler. Thus, the priest and the
king are together in the sound GO. That is what Krishna represents. Krishna was not
only a Teacher but also a Ruler. Normally teachers are not rulers, and rulers are not
teachers. Buddha abdicated his ruling principle and took to the teaching principle. Lord
Maitreya also did so. Christ also preferred Teaching principle to ruling principle.
GHEE
If in our daily life we use: cow urine, cow dung, for external use, and cow milk, cow
butter and cow ghee for internal use and also for rituals, we would have a very pure
vibration generated in and around us. That is why Hindus use for worship or for ritual,
cow ghee. They also take small portions of ghee in their food.
Ghee relates to the essence of the brain content. The brain gets alerted. That is how it
is understood in Ayurveda. The element of ghee is what secretes from the brain to
lubricate and open the Third Eye. Hence ghee has a special importance in the Vedic
ritual. Only cow ghee is used, and not buffalo, or goat, or sheep ghee. All cow products
generate heat.
To make ghee is very simple. We put cow butter in a vessel on stow. Slowly it becomes
liquid. Then we keep on mixing it circularly. The waters in the butter evaporate, and the
foam which comes out is also eliminated with the help of a spoon. Then we find slowly
the butter gaining golden yellow colour like honey. We will also get a very good
fragrance, very agreeable to the nose. At that time we have to stop heating. Then filter
the ghee into a fresh vessel.
We can add ghee (but not more than two spoons) in the food that we use daily. If we
take more, it will cause excessive heat, and sometimes we will not be able to assimilate
it. People that chant Vedas for three to four hours take a cup of ghee daily. The voice of
these people is vibrant like a stereo. That is because of the Fire that purifies the Throat
Centre.
Intermittent oceans
The yoga books narrate intermittent oceans in between the 7 planes of Existence. They
are
The ocean of salt ( Kshara)
The ocean of sugar (Ikshu)
The ocean of Alcohol (Sura)
The ocean of milk (Kshira)
The ocean of yogurt (Dadhi)
The ocean of butter (Navaneeth)
The ocean of ghee (Ghruta)
BUILDING THE BRIDGE
Ghee is used for the Fire ritual. Use of ghee relates to gaining the awareness of 7th
plane. Thus the sticks of wood of sacred trees and the cow ghee are found to be of
paramount importance in the Fire ritual. We build 7 triangles with the sacred sticks, pour
ghee on them and invoke Fire. When the Fire is enflamed through the 7 triangles the
bridge is built between the 7 planes. When the flames emerge through all the 7 planes,
it is also symbolic of the purification of the 7 planes in us and the 7 tissues of the body.
When the sticks are aflame we need to look to the vertical flame which builds the bridge
of Anthakarana. The Frictional and the Solar Fire connect to the Electrical Fire. The 3
planes of matter, force and consciousness thus get connected. The verticality of the
flame also indicates the Path of Kundalini and the brilliance of Shushumna. When the 3
Fires thus commune, the Devas of all the planes rejoice. The related benedictions are
received.
THE PRAYER
Since Fire knows the intricate paths of Creation from the supra cosmic plane to the
infernal planes, if we seek the favour of the Fire it leads us to the right Path. The Fire
worshippers always pray the Fire by saying: "Please ensure that I walk the right Path,
because you know every Path. You know the Path of black magic and you know the
Path of white magic. Please ensure that out of my ignorance I dont fall into a black
magic Path. Please ensure that I dont fall into the hands of a false teacher. Please
ensure that I do not fall into the illusions of the creation and that I stay with you at all
times"
There are false teachers and there are real Teachers. If we worship Fire, He will ensure
that we follow that Path which is beneficial to us. Fire insulates us from the paths of
ignorance. Fire also helps to burn up the impurities in us.
There is a prayer seeking the Fire to burn up the impurities in us. The impurities in the
mental, emotional and physical body prevent us from progressing well in the Path. If
there are impurities in the gasoline, it does not burn well. If there are impurities in the
candle, the candle does not burn well. From ancient-most times people were making a
Fire and were worshipping it to seek purification, to burn up the impurities. Igniting the
Fire outside is symbolic of igniting the Fire inside. The flame outside is symbolic of
formation of the Solar Fire/Light. Rituals were conceived by the ancients on the principle
of "imitation". The Divine plan is imitated symbolically through rituals to initiate the
related intelligences in the ritualist.
Unless we are pure we cannot enflame the Fire within us. It is like purifying gasoline
and other inflammable material before enflaming. That is why it is said: "Dont play with
Fire". Fire is Fire. If we carry impurities, the first thing is to seek purity from the Fire;
then only we can enflame the Fire. Fire can cause the destruction of all the impure traits
in us.
We make Fire and look to the flame, which is brilliant orange or golden. We keep
looking at it and submit one by one the impurities that we know in ourselves. This is the
ancient most confession, a much better confession than the present confessional
methods. The one who receives confession is supposed to be as pure as Fire. If we
give out our guilt, the person who listens to it should be able to receive it and burn it up,
otherwise what is the fun in confession? If a fee is fixed for confession, it is commerce.
The very original concept of confession comes from the individual confession to the
Fire.

The following prayer is suggested either at the beginning or at the end of the Ritual

AGNE NAYA SUPADHRYE ASMN
VISWNI DEVA VAYUNNI VIDWN
YUYODHYA ASMAD JUHURNM ENO
BHISTN TE NAMA UKTIM VIDHEMA

Oh, Lord Agni, the foremost one,
the knower of the intricate Paths of creation!
Lead us by the simple righteous Path
to felicity. Destroy our past Karma,
eliminate from us the attraction
to dubious and ignorant paths.
We offer our worship to you
in obedience.
The purpose of Fire ritual is to eliminate impurities in us and to eliminate the weeds that
hinder the growth. The weeds and seeds are within every man. The weeds are of
ignorance while the seeds are of knowledge. Knowledge leads us to right action.
Ignorance leads us to false attractions. An intelligent truth seeker should eliminate
weeds and nourish seeds. Fire helps destroying the weeds. The seeds and weeds are
what we carry as our good and ignorant traits. Through Fire ritual one can seek burning
up of the weeds, elimination of false attractions and protection from dubious paths. This
is a major work of discipleship.
Worship of Agni should enable one to function with right attitude in the world. One
should be able to establish right human relationship. The practice should also enable
withdrawal of senses from the sense objects of the world, at will. The disciple who can
withdraw at will from the activity of externalisation through senses in compared to, the
Sun that withdraws his rays. When the rays of the Sun are withdrawn the Sun globe is
visible. Likewise, when externalisation from senses is withdrawn, the Soul is visible. Sun
is the Soul. The Sun globe appears like a golden disc when the rays are withdrawn.
Likewise, the disciple also experiences his golden form when he suspends the activity
of senses. This golden form is the subtle body which is immortal and divine.
Unless the first prayer of suspension of sense activities happen, the second step of
experiencing the solar disc is not possible.
PUSHAN EKARSHYE
YAMASURYA PRAJAPATYA VYUHARASMIN
SAMUHA. TEJO ETTE RUPAM
KALYANATAMAM. TATTE PASYAMIYOW
SAVASOW PURUSHAHA.
SOHAMASMI.

"Oh! Solar God, you are the son of
Prajapathi. You are lone ranger of the sky.
You are all nourishing and all regulating.
Please withdraw your rays and brilliance.
By your grace I would then be able to see
your beautiful golden disc."
These (two) prayers are from the Upanishad Isavasya. Thus Fire ritual helps a disciple
on the Path.

The 3rd prayer is as under:

HIRANMAYENA PATRENA
SATYASYA APIHITAM MUKHAM.
TATVAM PUSHAN APAVRUNO
SATYA DHARMAYA DRUSHTAYE
"O Sun God!
The Truth is hidden by your enchanting,
brilliant golden disc.
Please be kind to discover the disc
to enable me to see the Truth,
if you deem that I am fit to see
by my righteous behaviour."

This 3rd prayer is given by Master Djwhal Khul in Treatise on White Magic as:

"Unveil to us the face of the
true spiritual sun, hidden by a disc of golden light, that we may know the truth
and do our whole duty
as we journey to Thy sacred feet."

THE GOLDEN DOOR OF THE GOLDEN TEMPLE
The second prayer speaks of the solar disc of golden colour. When the disciple is able
to withdraw the senses at will, he can experience the golden disc in the centre above
the eyebrows. This golden disc itself is a golden door of disciples golden temple (the
golden body). When this disc is discovered, the disciple plunges into a deeper truth. He
realises I AM. Concurrently his Third Eye opens. This is the third prayer of Isavasya.
The three prayers of Isavasya can be correlated to the three Fires, Frictional, Solar and
Electrical.
The second prayer is what is made possible trough the Fire ritual. We keep looking to
the flame and keep visualising, the same flame, after the ritual, from the Base Centre to
the Aja Centre and beyond. Such a long flame is possible in the ritual but not with a
candle. The flame in the ritual gradually rises and rises, even up to the head level.
When we visualise that vertical flame, and later we close our eyes, then we can find the
flame arising from our Base Centre to the Aja Centre and beyond. This is one way to
conduct the purification of the body in all the seven planes.
That is where, after the visualisation of the flame, we seek to see the disc of the Solar
God, which is of golden colour. If our senses are adequately withdrawn we will be able
to see the golden disc. It is so beautiful. It looks as though the solar globe is rising
between two mountains. The two mountains are nothing but our two eyebrows.
Between the two eyebrows the disc of light shines. When we visualise that, the related
bliss cannot be expressed in words. It is an accomplishment.
There we wait. We see the door and wait. We cannot open the door, because it is
bolted from the other side. Someone has to open it from the other side; we just have to
wait there. We cannot be impatient, we cannot be intolerant, we cannot make any
claims. It has to open from the other side.
We just go to that Golden Door of the Golden Temple and wait there, looking at the
circular golden door, which is represented by the disc of the Solar Light. The rays
coming from the disc are good enough to set right all the layers of our body. They cause
the necessary radiation and magnetisation. Just being there and receiving (absorbing)
the Golden Light, we would get the Golden Body, which is called the Etheric Body.
In the third prayer we keep making an appeal to the disk: "If I have followed the law
thoroughly, and if I have always been truthful, may the Grace visit me, through the
opening of the Door, which seems to conceal the Truth. May the hidden Truth grace me
through opening of the Door." That is the third prayer.
The visualisation of the Golden disc regularly would lead to the development of the
Etheric body. The disc over the Etheric body is symbolised as the circle over the
triangle. The triangle represents remoulded personality. The disc over it represents Soul
mounting the personality. This is a state of The Solomon Temple.
As the disciple progresses regularly, the brilliance of the Golden disc grows. Just as the
morning Son who is Golden in colour grows to brilliant white, the Golden disc visualised
at the eyebrow centre rises to Ajna centre and shines forth like a diamond disc. This is
the final state of The Solomon Temple.
When this disc opens, it is deemed as the opening of the Third Eye. The Fire Ritual is
relevant up to this point. The discipleship is also relevant up to this point, i.e., up to the
opening of the Third Eye. The Isavasya Upanishad indicates these three steps. The
eight fold Path of Yoga also gives the steps up to this. Man becoming Master is the Path
given in varieties of ways.
When the Door is open, we are absorbed into it. Then we no more find our being. Only
the pure Universal Consciousness exists as Itself. This is what Jesus calls "I shall now
rise and go to my Father."
DEVAS
In the ritual through the Fire god the planetary, solar and cosmic Devas are invoked by
their respective seed sounds and mantrams, the directional Devas are also invoked.
Their blessings are sought as per the three steps of the prayer, namely
Neutralisation of Karma.
Visualisation of golden light.
Experiencing the Truth.
This Fire ritual is therefore recommended for all truth seekers. The cooperation of
Devas is essential for an aspirant and the disciple as well. The Devas are the helpers
on the Path. Their worship is best done through Fire. The text reveals their detail.
PREPARATION FOR THE RITUAL
The Fire Ritual should be carried out during the dawn hours, because in the dawn hours
the energies are uprising, and in the case of the dusk hours the energies are receding.
That is why all prayers are beneficial only during the forenoon. For all rituals, one should
necessarily take shower and wear fresh clothing and abstain from food until the ritual is
over.
While doing the Fire Ritual one should face East. That is the first preference. The
second preference is North. North is Silence and East is Light. North is the God
Absolute, East is God as Light. Thus the arch between North and East is very
auspicious. The middle point of North and East is North-East. That is the place where
Existence becomes Awareness and we call it Ishana. It is the entry point of the Lord
from his Absolute state into the state of Light. We keep the North-East corner of the
house very, very sacred and auspicious. It is the place through which the Lord enters.
Through East the Light enters. North-East is the Male-Female God. East is feminine,
North is masculine. One can face either East or North or anywhere between North and
East. The altar in the house shall have to be in this part of the house or in this part of
the room. Even for prayers and meditations these directions are to be preferred.
Before we start with the Fire Ritual, we construct 7 layers of triangles, in a copper
vessel, with 21 wooden sticks, chanting the hymns Purusha Sukta and Sri Sukta. After
having constructed the 7 layers of triangles, we light the piece of camphor which we
have placed in the centre of the triangles, with a lighted incense stick. At that time we
chant 7 times a mantram inviting Lord Agni which is given in the text.
