TITLE:

The important of sunlight in photosynthesis

OBJECTIVE:
To study the effect of sunlight in the beans growth

HYPOTHESIS:
The beans exposed to the sunlight will grow and the ones in the dark will not.

INTRODUCTION:
Photosynthesis is the process in which light energy is converted into chemical energy. Using
the energy of light, carbohydrates such as sugars are synthesised from carbon dioxide and
water. Sunlight is the major factor for photosynthesis to take place and by doing this
experiment we need to prove that light is necessary for photosynthesis.
We can express the overall reaction of photosynthesis as:

MATERIALS:
a. Paper towels
b. Beans
c. 2 Plastic Bag
d. Tape

PROCEDURES:
1. Fold and wet two pieces of paper towels
2. Place one paper towel inside the plastic bag
3. Add a few number of beans to each plastic bag. Then, tape them up.
4. One plastic bag was place in a dark area away from any sun and the other one is
placed outside where it can get lots of sun.
5. After a few day, the observation was carried out.

DISCUSSION:
From the results, the beans growth are different from the prediction. The beans in the dark
grew rather than the beans exposed to the sunlight. There are several factor which leads to
this cases:
- The seed first growing underground away from sunlight. They use energy from the starch
and sugar thats already in the beans.
- The weather also could also effected yhe growth of beans outside.
- The beans too dry or wet (not enough or too much water)
- They didnt get enough sunlight
- They were too old.
In this case, the beans were too wet because we noticed mold on the beans which cause by
too much water.

CONCLUSION:
We can conclude that photosynthesis can occur without sublight, but only during first part of
grow. Without proper amunt of sunlight and water, a plant may not grow even if it is exposed
to sunlight.
