QuickJobs
Introduction:

With the price of tertiary education at an all time high, students are forced to rely on
the student allowance and loan scheme to help subsidize their education; the core
problem is that there is a serious lack of appropriate jobs for a full time student.
donly free for a very select set of hours, but how can we connect them with the right
employers? The solution is QuickJobs; a dynamic platform that specializes in
connecting students with employers who having trouble filling odd shifts.
(3.1) Vision:

Our vision at QuickJobs is to provide an effective medium where students and
employers can interact in an instantaneous manner, to lessen the debt on the
workforce of tomorrow.
(3.2) Industry Analysis:

The industry that QuickJobs will operate in is the New Zealand job searching
industry.

Force: High/Low: Justification:

Buyer Power
High There are many companies
operating job-searching sites (with
the majority market share
belonging to Seek) so the buyer
power is relatively high.

Supplier Power
Low The main suppliers that will be used
are software technicians and
customer service representatives,
both of which are in plentiful supply
and can be outsourced to countries
that provide cheaper labor, so
supplier power is relatively low.

Threat of New
Entrants
High The threat of new entrants is quite
high due to the fact that these
applications and websites are not
complex and in turn would not
require a lot of capital to develop.
There are few barriers to entry.

Threat of Substitutes
High Traditional jobs searches conducted
through websites and agencies are
the main substitutes that QuickJobs
will have to compete with, thus the
threat of substitutes is relatively
high.

Rivalry amongst
competitors
High There are many firms operating in
this industry with Seek and Student
Job Search being the two largest
competitors for QuickJobs. Careers
N.Z. listed 5 main general job
searching websites.

Overall attractiveness:
The job searching industry in New Zealand is a relatively unattractive industry. The
supplier power is low, which help the profitability of a firm operating in the
industry; however, the threat of new entrants, threat of substitutes, buyer power,
and rivalry amongst existing competitors are high which will attempt to lower the
profit margins. In 2012, stats New Zealand determined that 47.8 percent of the
421,764 were on the student loan scheme; that is a large amount of customers that.
The job searching industry in an extremely competitive one but we believe we have
a product that will give us an edge on our rivals.
(3.3) The Customer and their needs:

The target customer of the QuickJobs mobile job finding app are any full time
students ages 18-30 that are looking for a way to cut down the amount of student
debt they are having to incur as a result of full time study. Statistics New Zealand
says that the average amount borrowed by a student is $7820 a year .The plight of
our target customer is the fact that study at the university level is so expensive and
they are in need of appropriate jobs that allow them to maintain their academic
schedule at the same time as earning a bit of extra cash for themselves. The hours
have to align with their needs and cannot hinder their studying. In 2012, stats New
Zealand determined that 47.8 percent of the 421,764 tertiary studiers were on the
student loan scheme; that is a large amount of customers; that is a large target
market.
(3.4) How the product or service fulfills the customer needs:

QuickJobs is designed with the employees and employers of the 21
st
century in
mind. Its purpose is to connect the employers who have odd shifts and hours with
the students who have equally sporadic schedules. The employers create profiles
with their workplace information, the hours they need filling, and the qualifications
they would like to see; the students create a profile that highlights their skillset,
hours they are available to work, and any prior experience they might have.
QuickJobs then matches the two parties based off of their profiles and provides
them with the mean of communication. For students it needs to be instantaneous so
as soon a match has happened a notification is sent. The mobile app will allow
students to have more of a say on what hours they work and this will provide them
with a way to help pay the way through university.
(3.5.) Suppliers and Partners:

QuickJobs is lucky in the sense that the main suppliers and partners of this industry
are in plentiful supply. The most crucial partner in this whole process will be the
software developer that helps to create the website and application. Once the initial
program is up and running we will need to partner with a firm of software
technicians who will keep the software running smoothly and make sure that we are
constantly updating to stay competitive.

A key supplier when there are a lot of people involved is a customer service agency
that can handle any issues that our users may be having with their account. In order
to collect revenues from our uses we will need pay pal to supply us with an online
payment service that is clean and easy to use.
(3.6) Strategy:

The Porters generic strategy that QuickJobs will be adopting is focused low cost.
Our target market is students who are studying at a tertiary institution and this is a
narrow market. We believe that if that following this segmentation strategy will be
this most effective .The service that QuickJobs will provide will be inexpensive and
affordable for students who are on a budget; The only payment we will charge
happens once a successful match has occurred so the cost to use this software is
relatively cheap hence the low cost strategy. We believe this will be the most
effective way to position our firm in the market place and it will allow us to standout
from the competition.
(3.7) Value Chain Activity:

The most important value chain activity for our business is technology
development (R and D).

If our application is not at the cutting edge, then we will not gain the competitive
advantage necessary to succeed in the job searching industry. Our vision talks about
the instantaneous manner in which students will be connected so we need to be
sure that our platform is efficient and user friendly. In order to keep our expenses
aligned with our cost strategy we need to have a program that runs itself the
majority of the time and this will come from a strongly developed product.

(3.8) Two Key Business Processes:

Customer feedback process - In order to continually upgrade our application, we will
need to constantly take in the feedback that our customers are giving us; that way
we create the most user-friendly application possible. This falls under the customer
service and operations management department.

Software management process - This is very important to QuickJobs as it will be the
process that keeps our platform operating smoothly. This falls under operations
management and also technology and development. The customer feedback process
will play a large role in how the software is updated.

(3.9) Two functionalities:
Customer feedback collection process:
-Receive customer feedback regarding our application.
-Sort feedback into relevant groupings.
Software management process:
-Integrate relevant feedback into software updates.
-Fix any bugs and glitches that may have occurred.
(3.10) Three specific systems:
Customer management system- This will help to manage relationship that customers
have with QuickJobs and help to collect any feedback they might have regarding our
application. It will then sort this information into relevant groupings. It must be efficient
and help to cut down on feedback latency.
Feedback distribution system- The feedback distribution system will ensure that sorted
feedback in given to the necessary departments that can utilize it to improve any
business processes. It must accurately sort through the masses of information to ensure
only relevant information is distributed to specific departments.
Software management system-The software management systems main job is to pick
up on any glitches or issues that users may be having with the software and fix them; if
the fix is beyond the repair capabilities of the system then it will alert a technician to the
problem so that it can be fixed.

Conclusion:

In order for QuickJobs to achieve its long-term vision of reducing the amount of
student debt held by Kiwi graduates, it needs to redefine the way students and
employers are able to connect; The speed and usability of our smartphone
application will be what sets us apart from the other players in the industry. By
embracing information technology we will have the means to process and manage
the masses of information that will come our way. Through the uses of information
systems we will be able to deliver value to our customers by taking in all the
meaningful information and in turn using this to enhance our processesfor the
benefit of all parties involved. By reducing the burden on graduates, we believe that
the country of New Zealand will have a more motivated workforce and a stronger
economy because of that.
