CLEARANCE REGULATION

In order to adjust the axial clearance:
remove the quick-release skewer [4]
by screwing in the regulation screw [3]
with right-hand thread the axial clearance
is reduced.
the pitch of the regulation screw is 1mm/
turn

BEARING REPLACMENT

SAFETY AND USE
All our components are designed to provide
the same, top quality and reliability. There
are no limitations as to the weight of the
riders who use our F53 hubs. However, if
used in professional cycling and in extreme
conditions (mud, rain, etc.), our hubs must
be serviced accordingly. Regular servicing
will ensure safety and long life of the hubs.
In order to ensure high quality of our hubs,
we recommend the wheel to be assembled
by an authorized service.
Caution: before riding, check if the quick-
release is fastened securely. Check the hub
for cracks on the flanges. Do not use the
hub if your notice any damage or irregular-
ity. Fix the defect or have it done in the
nearest authorized Soul-Kozak service.
Check the rolling resistance by spinning the
wheel. The hub should not be cleaned with
a strong water stream or with strong deter-
gents.

WHEEL LACING
The recommended lacing is 3-cross on both
flanges. We do not recommend the 3-cross/
radial mixed lacing.

PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
The bearings should be replaced after 2500
km (1500 miles), or, if used in extreme
conditions, whenever faulty action is ob-
served. The bearings do not need additional
lubrication. They are already lubricated and
sealed, which ensures their proper working.
Using ceramic and hybrid substitutes to
replace the factory bearings is allowed.
Bearing series are given in the table below.

If the action of the clutch mechanism is loud
and uneven, it should be greased.

WHEEL LACING
The recommended lacing is 3-cross on both
flanges.

PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
The bearings should be replaced after 5500
km (3400 miles), or, if used in extreme
conditions, whenever faulty action is ob-
served. The bearings do not need additional
lubrication. They are already lubricated and
sealed, which ensures their proper working.
Using ceramic and hybrid substitutes to
replace the factory bearings is allowed.
Bearing series are given in the table below.

CLEARANCE REGULATION
The axial clearance in the hubs bearings
[12] is non-adjustable.

LUBLICATION OF THE CLUTCH MECHA-
NISM

Using the skewer, remove the lockrings
[5,6]. Remove the axle [3] (in the direction
of the clutch mechanism [2]). Next, remove
the clutch ring [4] and the seal [7]. Clean
the disk [4], freehub body [2], the seal [7]
and the inner part of the hub body [1]
where the seal is seated. Next, using the
same activities but in reverse order, assem-
ble the hub. While assembling, use lubricat-
ing oil only (not grease)!! After assembling,
check the action of the clutch mechanism
and whether the bearings work smoothly.
The bearing [11] is replaced with the free-
hub body. Soul-Kozak freehub bodies are
available in Soul-Kozak on-line store, in the
'spare parts section.

SAFETY AND USE
All our components are designed to provide
the same, top quality and reliability. There
are no limitations as to the weight of the
riders who use our R53 hubs. Overhauls of
the front and rear hubs should be per-
formed at least once a year. If the hubs are
used in extreme conditions (mud, rain,
etc.), the unidirectional clutch mechanism
should be serviced more often. Regular
servicing will ensure safety and long life of
the hubs. In order to ensure high quality of
our hubs, we recommend the wheel to be
assembled by an authorized bike service.
Caution: Check the action of the clutch
mechanism before each ride. Make sure
that the mechanism meshes correctly. If
you notice some irregularities do not use
the hub. Fix the defect or have it done in
the nearest authorized Soul-Kozak service.
The clearance between the axle [3] and the
lockrings [5,6] disappears once the wheel is
rested in the frame and secured with the
quick-release skewer. The clutch mecha-
nism in a new hub gives slightly different
sound and has a higher rolling resistance. It
is caused by the fact that the grease in the
clutch mechanism is not yet spread evenly
and the seals are not ground in.
