Headmasters Corner
Thank you to Reception for such a wonderful assembly this morning. The children told us all about their busy year and all
the fantastic things they have been up to. Well done to you all!
There arent many schools in the country that can boast a Water Polo Team but we can and, in addition, we can boast a
team that won all of their matches in the weeks competition against Wycliffe. Well done, too, to the Under 13 Rounders
Team who won this weeks Severnside Tournament beating Beaudesert and The Downs in the process. A super
performance; were all very proud of you!
With school exams now coming to an end, I know Years 3 -7 are looking forward to a relaxing half term break. Year 8 on
the other hand will be busy getting ready for the Common Entrance Examinations which take place during the first week
back. Good luck to all of them!
I am delighted to announce that Dr John Newton, Headmaster of Taunton School, will be our guest speaker at Speech
Day this year. We look forward to seeing you all there to celebrate the end of such a successful year for the school.
On Saturday, 31st May 2014, Wycliffe College will be hosting Run4Rob. Rob Camm, former Tockingtonian and Wycliffe
student, rower and rugby player, was in a serious car accident in September last year. He suffered a very high spinal injury
resulting in paralysis. The aim is to raise 20,000 to help purchase specialised equipment which will make a huge
difference to Rob in the future.
All Tockington parents, pupils and staff can join in this sponsored event by walking or running any distance, over a
designated course from Wycliffe College, up to 26 miles. This will be followed by food and drink.
For more details of the day, please refer to Robs own website (http://www.cammpaign4rob.co.uk/wycliffe-college-to-host-
run4rob-in-may-2014/), and register your intent to participate by emailing run4rob@btinternet.com.
Have a lovely week off.

Blue Peter Badge
Congratulations to Isabel Browning on being awarded a
Blue Peter Badge for her great sketches of their various
badges.
Success on the Dry Ski Slope
Tabitha & Harry Huby recently spent a blustery Saturday
at Gloucester Dry Ski Slope representing Gloucester Ski
Club in their summer race league. In the morning their
slalom runs were timed, later they were paired up with
other competitors to race in duals. They both won their
races and Gloucester Ski Club won overall.
On Sunday they were back on the ski slope, this time
competing in the South West Schools event. Both Tabitha
and Harry managed to improve their slalom course times
as the day went on. Tabitha ended up 18th and Harry
32nd out of 48 in the Under 12s age group.
Next year we would be keen to enter a TMS team. If
anyone is interested in taking part please contact Mrs
Huby. Her email is Priscilla@huby.biz.
Lower School News
Congratulations to Amy Tucker and Oliver Edge in Year 2
for their interesting presentations on Brownies and Lego
Star Wars.
Well done to all of Year 2 for an excellent creative story
writing lesson. Their enthusiasm and imagination was
fantastic. We had stories about lost tigers, knights seeking
revenge, adventurous cats and dogs, alien attacks,
mermaids and fairies and time travel back to WW2 to
name just a few.
Some quotes from the lesson:
'I've got a book in my head already.'
'Story writing is great because you can do anything.'
'Can I finish this at playtime?'
'I'm so not rubbing this out, it's going so well.'

Almondsbury Fun Run
This event was much enjoyed by some of our TMS
athletes. It was a glorious, sunny day on a picturesque
and interesting 5km course. Dalis Jones (Year 5) won a
box of chocolates for being the first female runner back
(the field included a few club runners), Lucy and Henry
Allan-Jones performed admirably, especially considering
they had run 1500m the day before at an athletics
meeting. Ceredig Jones was the first TMS athlete back,
beating his sister by 40 seconds. Elizabeth Allan-Jones
(Year 3) ran determinedly and finished well up the field in
the 1km race. All five are very pleased with their medals!
Cricket News
Congratulations to Jake Wakeling who played his first
match for his U10 county cricket club. The final score was
Cardiff & Vale 138, West Glamorgan 105. Jake took 2
wickets for 12 runs and played very well.

Severnside Athletics
This was a very successful and enjoyable event at a sunny Beaudesert Park School (for a change!). We were placed
2nd and 3rd in many of the races and performed determinedly throughout the event. Otis Walker (U10, 200m), Alex
Grocott (U12, 800m), Max Curtis (Open, 800m) and Isabelle Preston (U10, 200m) all won their respective A races with
impressive style. Angus Duncan won the U11, 200m B race in a close finish.
There were TMS records broken on the day: Otis Walker in the U10 100m and 200m, Alex Grocott in the U12 100m,
Helena Brain in the U12 100m, Dalis Jones in the U11 800m and Seren Clayton in the Open 300m. Congratulations to
all the TMS athletes!
Tockington Titbits
Grace Mockridge can now ride her bike.
A Year 3 boy got his football stuck in a tree. Another Year 3 boy tried to help by throwing his tennis racquet up to get it.
The racquet got stuck so another helpful Year 3 boy threw his racquet up to help but that got stuck as well. Thankfully
Alvaro from Year 8 saved the day by hurling an unnamed object up into the tree and thus freeing up the Year 3
possessions. Where would we be without our Year 8s?!
and on Monday Years 5 & 6 queued up for the first exam of the week whilst Reception cracked on with Maths in the
Learning Garden!
