Organic fertilizers versus chemical fertilzers

Like human need vitamins & minerals for growth similarly Plants need certain vitamins and minerals in order to
thrive. When we apply fertilizer, we are boosting the levels of those vitamins and minerals in the soil so that the
plants will be able to absorb more of the nutrients that they need. This enables the plants to get bigger and
stronger and produce more fruit and seeds.
Fertilizers are the protein supplements for your plants. Fertilizers are used to enrich the soil with nutrients that
it does not inherently have.
A long time ago, there were no chemical fertilizers as such. There was manure animal
carcasses cover crops ashes nitrogen-fixing legumes and that was about it.Life was
good, yields were decent and the soil did well at supporting crops year after year.
But In the 1800s, the brilliant chemist Justus von Leibig discovered that the main nutrient plants
needed to grow was nitrogen. It was only a few short steps from there to realizing that a mix of
Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium (NPK) provided the main building blocks for plant growth.
At that time he didnt realize that it can have an adverse effect on environment.
Organic fertilizers are made from naturally occurring substances, and include by-products or waste remains of
the animals. Dead plants and dead animals remains are also often used as fertilizers in organic farming.
Chemical fertilizers composed of raw chemicals that have been manufactured at a factory into liquid or solid
forms that specifically target plants' nutritional needs. A chemical fertilizer is essentially designed to mimic
naturally occurring nutrients
I feel organic fertilizers is better than chemical fertilizers.
It's better because organic fertilizer contains no chemicals that could / may kill the plant faster
than using inorganic that contains man-made things that WILL kill your plants faster

Organic fertilizers are often less expensive, make more nutritious plants, improve the soil micro-
organisms. They can also improve root growth, more disease resistant and make the plants more
drought tolerant.
Impact of chemical fertilizers
The biggest issue facing the use of chemical fertilizers is groundwater contamination.
Effects marine life.
One of the scariest effects of chemical fertilizers is something called methemoglobinemia. In
infants it is alternatively known as Blue Baby Syndrome. The condition causes a decrease in
oxygen in the blood and results in a blue-grey skin color, causes lethargy and/or irritability and
can lead to coma or death.
Conclusion
Chemical fertilizer use in commercial farms is on the decrease in the United States. Organic
fertilizer use is increasing. More laws are limiting the use of inorganic fertilizer due to it being a
major pollutant in our surface water and groundwater where most chemical fertilizers end up.
There is no advantage to using chemical fertilizers over organic, and we will continue to see a
decrease in the use of chemical fertilizers and the increase use of organic fertilizers.
Not only Farmers but government also have to decide what to use for agricultural fields.
There will be a time you need to decide whether you go organic or chemical.
