SUMMERY

22 September 2010
Student have collected the research posters to the committee at 8.00 pm. Attend a
public lecture by lecture from Ibaraki University, Tskuba University, and IPB. In the
evening held a meeting between groups in Landwis IPB and introductions as well as
among students.
23 september 2010
On the morning of each team went to the location of field work, to group B is
designated location Cikarawang land. Cikarawang survey aims to take samples of soil
and water to further brought to the laboratory. The goal is to understand the
characteristics and differences in soil conditions between the processing of conventional
rice fields with the organic. Then were measured in the laboratory and soil mechanics
IPB..
After inserting the sample into the oven students attend lectures on water
sampling as well as visits to the laboratory analysis of water in the TIN.
24 september 2010
Students visited the research center for breeding centers in the Agricultural
Agency, to see the process of securing a few varieties and seed handling and storage
process. For seed saving is that for short, medium and long term. have visited the
botanical gardens of Bogor. After Friday prayers students visited BIOFARMACA IPB.
At the evening held an interest and talent show performances.
25 September 2010
Students presented a poster each participant for 3 minutes until 13.00, then the
event group. For group B, the students conducted an analysis of samples taken in soil
mechanics laboratory. The analysis includes physical and chemical properties of soil
and water. The analysis was conducted until 8 pm. Further discussion was held about
the debate material for the next day.
26 september 2010
Presentasi debat antar kelompok tentang 1. Agriculture activities contributed
global worming dan 2. Food to energy. Sampai jam 13.00. dan selanjutnya diadakan
penyerahan hadiah kepada tim yang menang dan pengumuman pemenang lomba poster.

Presentations debate games between groups, the topic are 1. Agriculture contributes to
global warming and 2. Converting Food into energy. At 14.00 Award of prizes to the

The analysis conducted on soil and water samples taken from Cikarawang land,
including land in conventional and organic rice, cassava fields, corn, ponds, irrigation
channels and rice fields after planting.
Undisturbed soil samples were taken using a ring sample and disturbed soil
sample put into plastic. The soil samples put in the oven until the sample weight reaches
the weight fixed at the time of observation roasted for 24 hours, to further weighed
again.
Measurement of nitrate and phosphate content of water used test pack, soil
samples were taken as much as 10 grams of roasted and then fed into the tube and add
100 ml of water and stirred for about 5 minutes, perfect for mixed soil. Next filtered
using filter paper 110 mm. Phosphate and nitrate test pack is inserted approximately two
seconds and counted by counter nitrate content.
In land crops on soil water content of topsoil is higher than the bottom layer (25
cm), with heavy soil per volume is 69.79% for the top layer and the bottom layer is
73.4% denser. While the content of nitrates 4 mg / liter of soil and Phosphate 6 mg /
liter of soil.
In paddy soil organic filed nitrate and phosphate content is smaller than in the
middle and at the inlet, except in the calculation of organic nitrates in the inlet due to
measurement error. The high content of nitrate and phosphate in the organic rice lands
due to the accumulation of N and P content of the existing in field and the addition of
the inlet channel. It can be said for organic processing will be reduced because the two
elements used by the plant.
While in conventional an increase of nitrate content in the outlet because of the
provision of fertilizer to the paddy fields and the high content of N and P that enter the
area through the inlet channel.

Nitrate content in water at the inlet channel of organic rice is greater than the
middle and tip of land (outlet) of organic land, while the phosphate content remained
relatively unchanged. While in conventional changes are not so significant, and for
phosphate no change (very small). In conventional land water pH is greater than the
organic fields, this is caused by residual fertilizer accumulated in the field so that land
becomes more alkaline
The content of oxygen contained in water samples to identify the chemical
reaction that requires oxygen in water samples. The higher the reaction that occurred
towards the higher Oxygen Demand values
