The R

(micro-reflector)
The R

micro-reflector recently
launched by Schrder opens the way
for new aesthetic forms. It combines
creative freedom and high photometric
performance.
Design: E. de Portzamparc
ince its creation, Schrder has acquired an expertise
and a technological position that enhances the
reputation of this international Group to this day. Performance
and innovation are the core requirements of the Groups
products, which feature exceptionally high quality mechanical
and photometric properties. Designers of the Schrder Group
GIE are constantly creating innovative luminaires for urban,
public, industrial, and sports lighting applications which
harmonise perfectly with contemporary trends.
1927, foundation in Lige (Belgium) of
the company Constructions lectriques
Schrder.
1948, first use of die cast aluminium
alloy in the field of lighting.
1951, launch by Schrder of
electropolished aluminium reflectors
with high photometric efficiency.
1986, Schrder launches the Sealsafe

,
ensuring long lasting tightness of the
optical compartment, which has
become a world standard.
1998, Schrder launches the Easilok

,
a positioning procedure with
mechanical locking and automatic cut-
out of the electricity supply.
2001, Schrder launches the R

(micro-
reflector), enabling great creative liberty
in the design of lighting luminaires.
Sealsafe

- Easilok

.
The Sealsafe

system, a unique
concept developed by Schrder, is
based on the principle of an optical
compartment whose tightness is
totally guaranteed over time. Recently,
this procedure has been significantly
improved by the addition of a locking
handle, the Easilok

system. This
system ensures rapid access to the
lamp while disconnecting the power
supply.
Design.
For several years now, Schrder
has been working closely with
internationally renowned
designers and lighting creators.

than 40 companies spread over
four continents.
These professionals pool their
resources and skills to offer their
clientele equivalent standards of
quality in all markets.
Organised in a GIE (Economic
Interest Group), the members and
affiliated companies share facilities
and powerful tools for R&D,
manufacturing, computer facilities,
high level photometric studies and
laboratory tests. Findings are made
available to all the companies in
the Group.
On the other hand, each company
of the Schrder Group GIE has its
own national management
structure and all the autonomy
necessary for initiating and
implementing solutions best suited
to the local conditions.
Today, throughout the world, every
client will find a local representative
of the Schrder Group GIE in the
near vicinity, who can offer lighting
products at the forefront of
technological and aesthetic
innovation.

Electrical safety.
The laboratory is authorised to
perform all the conformity tests
to the EN 60598 or CIE 598 safety
standards. Conformity to these
standards is confirmed by the
ENEC (European Norms
Electrical Certification) mark.
Mechanical properties.
Before they reach the market and
also during the production phase,
the luminaires are subject to the
most stringent tests in order to
ensure their mechanical and
aerodynamic resistance.

Photometric
performance.
A goniophotometer
responding to the latest
requirements enables the
photometric performance of
luminaires to be optimised
during development. For
several years now, Schrder
has also been working on the
problems of luminance ; a
reflectometer measures the
photometric characteristics of
road surfaces or various
materials.

Resistance to corrosion.
Schrder has acquired a world-
wide reputation in this highly
complex sector. A reputation
founded on a wide variety of
body materials, resistant to
corrosion, that can be fitted with
various reflectors.
Urban lighting.
Aesthetic by day.
Effective by night.
Lighting our cities helps improve
our quality of life. By night and
day, lighting systems have to be
aesthetic, in addition to meeting
demanding photometric
performance standards.

Floodlights.
Photometric diversity.
When illuminating a monument
or a building, floodlights give
it contours in the dark. To
express this added value, to
work the magic of lighting, the
designer has to be an expert in
selecting the most suitable
equipment. Schrder offers a
complete range of products
covering all requirements: from
large area lighting to the
intensive illumination of a
statue.
Industrial lighting.
Resistance to dust.
Faced with aggressive and dusty
environments, Schrder has
developed a complete range of
lights which are robust and
flexible enough at a photometric
level to cater for all types of
industrial premises.
Special lighting.
Service and flexibility.
Schrder has developed many
products for special applications
such as the lighting of railway
station platforms that combine
lighting and sound, the lighting
of very large areas using lighting
columns with mobile crowns, the
lighting of fuel stations, the
lighting of roundabouts, and the
lighting of pedestrian crossings.

Sports lighting.
A solution for all sports.
Given the great diversity of
floodlights it has at its disposal,
Schrder is in a position to offer
solutions for lighting applications
that range from sport halls to
large football stadiums or other
open-air sports grounds.

city
ur view of cities has changed. Today they are bathed in light,
whether for aesthetic reasons, to enhance our architectural
heritage, or to enhance our quality of life and safety. The concept of
lighting furniture signifies that lighting must offer much more than
functionality alone. The mission offered by Schrder to designers of
international renown is to invent urban lighting systems that fit our time.
