I. Introduction

Background Of The Study
We selected this project because we want to prove that common materials can be used
to make a musical instrument. The wooden box guitar was called Cigar Box Guitar in
the 1880s and trace evidence of guitar box instruments exists from 1840s to the
1860s. The earliest illustrated proof of a cigar box instrument known an etching
copyrighted in 1876 of two civil war soldiers at a composite with one playing a cigar box
fiddle. The others made a cigar box instrument, Bill Jehel, the curator of the national
cigar box guitar. The first guitar box guitar box cigar was built in 1886 and 1889.
Acoustic is related to physics because it is about sounds. Wooden Box Guitar can
produce sounds therefore it is related to physics. The result of our study will have a
contribution to the improvement of mans quality of life because we will make an easy
to use and easy to make instrument. Our everyday instruments that we will use are
wood like oak and another one is screws and sand paper. We have to make the neck of
the guitar using oak wood and a cigar shaped box so we can create the body of the
Guitar.
Statement of the problem:
Is improvising a guitar possible? Is it more expensive (the price of materials) than the
price of guitars that you will buy in Music Shops?
Objectives:
Improvising is possible, we must find a way that the guitar will be improvised by just
using high quality but cheap materials.
Significance Of The Study:
I will contribute to mankinds daily life; because for example you have insufficient
budget to buy instruments that you want to use, you can make use of materials in your
surroundings and ask help to someone who knows how to make your selected
instrument and study the procedures of how to make it. You will save a lot of money
and you can start your own business by selling homemade guitars.


Hypothesis
Oak is a heavy, strong, light colored hardwood. It is ring porous, due to the fact that
more and larger conductive vessels are laid down early in the summer, rather than
later. Prominent rings and large pores give oak a course texture and prominent grain.
Oak also has conspicuous medullary rays which can be seen as "flakes" in quarter
sawed oak lumber.
Scope and Limitations
The scope is the cigar box guitar is a stringed instrument that uses an empty cigar box
as its resonator. They are not necessarily of the same design as a normal 6-
string acoustic guitar. We want to make a guitar made of common materials and to
know if the materials to make a cigar box guitar has a cheaper price than guitars form
the music shop. The limitation is the number of wood that we will use.

Methodology:

1. Measure the wood
2. Saw the wood and carve the wood
3. Glue the pieces of wood together
4. Use the sandpaper on the wood
5. Paint and Design the wood
6. Drill small holes on the wood for the knots
7. Paint the wood
8. Put the neck in the Cigar Box
9. Put the strings on the guitar
10. Tune the wooden guitar
11. Check if the tune is good
12. Play the guitar and enjoy

Methodology
Oak wood has a density of about 0.75 g/cm
3
, great strength and hardness, and is very
resistant to insect and fungal attack because of its high tannin content. It also has very
appealing grain markings, particularly when quartersawn. Japanese oak is used in the
making of professional drums from manufacturer Yamaha Drums. The higher density of
oak gives the drum a brighter and louder tone compared to traditional drum materials
such as maple and birch. Populus is known as poplar wood, a common high-quality
hardwood "poplar" with a greenish colour is actually from an unrelated
genus Liriodendron. Populus wood is a lighter, more porous material.
In modern society poplar is not readily associated with many uses beyond biomass. This
poor reputation is undeserved, as its flexibility and close grain give it a balance of
properties that have made it highly desirable for a number of applications (similar to
those for willow) since antiquity. Notably the Greeks and Etruscans made shields of
poplar, and Pliny also recommended poplar for this purpose.

Poplar continued to be
used for shield construction through the Middle Ages and was renowned for durability
similar to that of oak, but at a substantial reduction in weight.









NOONG nakaraang buwan, sinermunan ni President Noynoy Aquino ang administrator ng National
Irrigation Administration (NIA) na si Antonio Nangel dahil sa mahina nitong pamamahala sa tanggapan.
Ginawa ng Presidente ang paninermon sa ika-50 anibersaryo ng NIA. Hayagang sinabi ng Presidente na
walang nagagawa ang NIA ukol sa mga nasimulang proyekto na makatutulong sana sa pagpaparami ng
ani. Hinalimbawa ng Presidente ang dam project sa Tarlac na hanggang ngayon ay hindi natatapos.
Isang araw makaraang sermunan si Nangel, may kinuha nang kapalit ang Malacaang.
Noong July 12, 2010, sinermunan din niya si Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical
Services Administration (PAGASA) administrator Prisco Nilo dahil sa maling report sa bagyong Basyang
. Sa forecast ng PAGASA, ang tatamaan ng bagyo ay ang Aurora at Isabela provinces. Pero nagbago
muli ang forecast at sinabing tatamaan na ang Quezon Province, Metro Manila at ilang probinsiya sa
Southern Luzon. Ang pagkakamali, hindi naabisuhan ang mamamayan na maghanda. Ikinagalit iyon ng
Presidente kaya ni-relieved siya sa puwesto. Makaraan iyon, nagbitiw na si Nilo sa PAGASA.
Umanoy mayroon pang sesermunang pinuno ng ahensiya si P-Noy sa kanyang nalalapit na State of the
Nation Address (SONA) dahil umano sa hindi maampat na smuggling sa bansa.
Ang hinihintay ng taumbayan ngayon ay kung kailan sesermunan ni P-Noy ang namumuno sa Land
Transportation Office (LTO). Napakaraming reklamo sa LTO at nangunguna na rito ang mabagal na
pagpapalabas ng plate number at sticker ng mga sasakyan. Ayon sa mga nagrereklamo, noon pang
nakaraang Enero sila nag-apply pero hanggang ngayon wala pang plaka ang kanilang sasakyan. Ang
mga nag-renew naman ng registration ay walang maibigay na sticker para sa 2013. Sabi ng ibang nag-
renew baka abutan na ng 2014 bago maibigay ang sticker para sa 2013.
Dahil sa kabagalan ng pagpapalabas ng plate number, pawang conduction number ang nakalagay sa
mga sasakyang yumayaot sa Metro Manila.Nasermunan na ang administrator ng NIA at PAGASA kailan
naman kaya sesermunan ang namumuno sa LTO na noon pa balakid sa tuwid na daan.
