Introduction&Aim

Eachyearthe4thGradestudentsofWoodDaleDistrict7create,design,test,andpresent
ascienceexperimentthroughtheWDSD7ScienceFair.Thiswebquestisdesignedto
helpstudentsunderstandtheprocessofthescientificmethod,whyitisimportant,
examples,andultimatelyhowtheycanuseitwhilecreatingtheirWDSD7ScienceFair
project.

Rationale

Scientificliteracyiscriticaltocomplexproblemsolvingandtouchesmanyaspectsof
humanlife.Suchliteracyincludesanintellectualcuriosityaboutthenaturalandphysical
worldandafamiliaritywiththewayinwhichknowledgeaboutthatworldisobtained,
analyzed,andinterpreted.Thescientificmethodandanalysisenhancethestudents
abilitiestoanalyzeandsynthesizescientificinformation,understandthelimitationsand
strengthsofexistingtheories,askstrategicquestions,andassessempiricalevidencethat
bearsonthem.
