Air pollution occurs when there are pollutants in

the air.

Pollutants are substances harmful to humans or
other organisms and damages the natural
environment and the atmosphere.

Most pollutants are the result of human activities
such as burning fossil fuels, release of harmful gases
and fine particles released by vehicles, factories and
quarries.

The concentration of pollutants depends on certain
factors such as area and flow air.

Pollutants Sources
Carbon monoxide
Exhaust gas from vehicles
Residential burning
Forest fires
Nitrogen oxide
Electric utilities
Industrial source
Residential source
Sulphur dioxide
Burning of fuels
Lead particles
Vehicle exhaust fumes

Carbon dioxide
Burning of fuels in car,power
plants,houses and industry
Methane
Processing of fossil fuels
Nitrous oxide

Chlorofluorocarbon
(CFC)
The use of aerosol cans,air
conditioners and refrigerator
Electronic factories

Avoid open burning

Use CFC free products

Practice the 3 r - reduce, reuse and recycle to reduce
waste

Buy new conditioner systems or heat pumps that
uses non-ozone depleting refrigerant

Allow the government to build incinerators

Do not waste electricity

Encourage to reduce the use of liquid petroleum
gas

The public is encourage to use public transport

Use wind energy, solar energy and hydroelectric
power as an alternative to fuels

Legal action must be taken against all who pollute
the environment

Farmers are encourage to use the biological
control method and control the use of fertilizers
and pesticide

Anti - smoking campaigns are held to alert
society about the effects of cigarette smoke to the
health and environment

We should avoid open burning
We should use public transports and practise car-
pooling
We should reduce the uses of CFC-based products
Turn off the car engine while waiting for people
We should conserve electricity by turn off appliances
and lights when not in use
Do not smoke
Practice the 3 r - reduce,reuse and recycle to
reduce waste.
