Mega City Project- Process Paper
During the process of collecting the research for my mega city Mumbai, we collected 10 sources
for our first due date. To collect information I went on Ms. Semples haiku page and to look at the
reference sources and websites that she had suggested. After we had collected 10 or more sources we
made 3 notecards for each source, which add up to 30 notecards overall. Then I went through each
source and labeled them with whatever they described or explained. After that I went through all 30
notecards and started to pair them with other notecards that had similar descriptions. This kept me
organized. After I collected all my information for my notecards and organized them so similar
categories were together I wrote annotations on all of my 10 sources explaining what each source was
about and how the source was useful to me.
During the process of creating my website I felt that I struggled a little bit in the beginning but
towards the end I really started to understand it more. I started off with the design that weebly gave me
when I first made my account. I started to put information I needed for each page of my website. Then I
started to add pictures, but when I would add a picture for my home page, that same image would
appear as the heading for all my pages. I did not understand why it was doing this and I got really
frustrated. I finally asked Mrs. Newman and she told me that I had to make it so that it says only add this
picture to a certain page. Once I finally figured that out I started to calm down. As I calmed down I
noticed that I really did not like the design of my website, so I changed it to a design that I though was
more organized.
Mumbais location has had a huge impact on the transformation of the city. Mumbai is located
on the peninsular of Bombay Island which is really good for trade. Mumbai has been the economic core
and commercial and financial center of India. Mumbai accounts for one tenth of all industrial jobs in
India, 6% of GDP and 40% of exports.
Due to the rapidly increasing population Mumbai has struggled with housing. Many people are
migrating into Mumbai looking for better job and educational opportunities. Many of these people do
not have enough money to afford a nice house, so they are forced to live in the slums of Mumbai. Most
if not all the homes in the slums of Mumbai are made out of whatever that family could find. The
conditions of the slums are terrible and unsanitary. This is the reason for many diseases in Mumbai.
