if you meet all of the specifc conditions
attached to your guarantee. You must be:

coming alone to the University, who
has frmly accepted our offer of a
place to study at Newcastle by
30June or
1 an international fee-paying
postgraduate student coming alone
to the University, who has frmly
accepted our offer of a place to
study at Newcastle and met all the
conditions of the offer by 30 June.
Youwill also be required to pay a
500application fee, refundable
against your summer terms rent or

student coming alone to the University
for the full academic year, who has
frmly accepted our offer to study at
Newcastle and met all the conditions
of the offer.
Deadlines
To be eligible for the guarantee you
must submit the online Accommodation
Application by 30 June 2014 but the
guarantee may involve some temporary
sharing at the start of the academic year.
Non-guaranteed Students
1 If you are a late applicant, ie you applied after 30 June 2014, we will endeavour to
offer you University accommodation but as your application will only be dealt with
after all guaranteed students, accommodation availability will be limited.
1 If you are an undergraduate applicant coming to Newcastle as your insurance
choice or through Clearing/Adjustment, we will endeavour to offer you University
accommodation, but as your application will only be dealt with after all guaranteed
students, accommodation availability will be limited.

distance of the University, and have not chosen us as your frm choice university, you
are classed as a waiting local. You should apply in the usual way and your details
will be put on a waiting list. Students living furthest away from the University will be
offered a room before those living closer to the city centre. If we are unable to offer
you a room at the start of term, you will be asked to remain at home until a room
becomes available, usually during the frst term.
1 If you are a European postgraduate student, we recommend you complete the
online Accommodation Application, including payment of the 500 application fee.
We will have a number of rooms available for you.
1 If you are a UK postgraduate student, while not eligible for University accommodation,
we recommend you complete the online Accommodation Application to apply for
NUstudenthomes (see page 17). When completing the online Accommodation
Application, you will be able to check available NUstudenthomes accommodation.
1 If you are here for only part of the academic year (a part-year student), you should
still apply for accommodation. We anticipate we will be able to make you an offer
of accommodation, but will not be able to process your application until early
September. If we can offer you accommodation, it is likely to be a twin room, shared
with a student of the same gender. Second-semester students are more likely to be
offered a room than frst-semester students.
1 If you require family/couple accommodation, you are still encouraged to apply but
we have a limited range of accommodation. If you have children, you are advised
not to bring your family to Newcastle until you have been able to arrange suitable
accommodation for them. Our family accommodation is at Bowsden Court andwe

anypoint until you submit the
completed application and your

Application Submitted
What happens next depends on the
status of your offer to study at the
University. No one will be offered
accommodation until they have met
the conditions of the offer and have
frmly accepted their academic place.
Important Things
to Consider
1 The date of your application is the
date you click submit, not the day
you begin the process ensure you
complete it by 30 June to be covered
by the guarantee.
1 Do not use a school e-mail address
when creating your log-in. Offers are
sent over the summer so it is likely
you will no longer have access to
thisaccount. Add us to your e-mail
safe-senders.
1 Think carefully about your
accommodation choices to ensure
you are selecting the preferences
thatmatch your needs including
your budget.
1 You can choose up to 10 named
sites we recommend you choose
the maximum number of sites where
possible to improve your chance of
being offered one of your preferences.
Remember that small sites will fll
quickly, so look at the number of
rooms offered on each site.
1 If you need a specifc room allocation
due to a disability or medical condition,
including any hidden disabilities,
please ensure to include this in the
application. Do not assume that
you will be offered the correct type
of accommodation if you havent
advised us of any requirements and
there will be the risk that we do not
have an alternative at a later date.

site/room type, we have met the terms
oftheguarantee.
If you are allocated accommodation,
one of the following will happen:
University-owned and Managed
