LORD Corporation: An Overview
A global technology leader providing valuable expertise in:
Adhesives and coatings
Vibration, motion and noise control
Magnetically responsive technologies
4
Quick facts about LORD
More than 2,400 employees
Privately-held company
$630MM in annual sales
World headquarters in Cary, NC
17 manufacturing facilities in nine countries
90 strategically located sales and support centers worldwide
5
What is MetalJacket?
Environmentally-friendly, autodepositing water-base coating that
improves bonding properties and substrate protection.
Originally developed as a replacement primer for LORD adhesive
systems.
In early performance testing, LORD refined the technology to
deliver a compact process, improved performance and
environmental advantages over traditional adhesive and coating
systems
Can be used over steel substrates as a:
Primer for adhesive systems
Primer for organic coating systems
Complete coating system for a variety of products and applications
LORD

Autodepositing Adhesives deliver both bonding

properties and substrate protection.
6
Traditional Rubber-to-Substrate (RTS) Process
Cost centers in each process
step
Current RTS process may have up
to 9 process steps divided into 7
cells
Parts often transported from cell to
cell during the process, very
complex and labor intensive
The manufacturing cycle time is
lengthy and requires much Work in
Process
Current solvent base products have
high environmental impact and cost
to control is expensive

MetalJacket Process Benefits
Highly-automated application process
Reduced labor to operate systems (load, unload and technician)
High productivity
Ability to bulk pack coated parts
Reduced capital cost
Compact systems require fewer stages and take up floor space
40 - 60% less expense than comparable e-coat or autophoretic systems
Flexible process
Can be applied via monorail, indexing, hoist or walking beam systems
Closed-loop, environmentally-friendly process
Free from heavy metals
Low water discharge, process requires no constant overflows or rinsing
