Presidency Message

The Savior said. A new commandment I give unto you, that ye
love one another; as I have loved you love one
another. John 13:34. Because love is the great commandment, it
ought to be at the center of all and everything we do in our own
family, in our church callings and in our livelihood. Love is the
healing balm that repairs rifts in personal and family relationships.
It is the bond that unites families, communities and nations. Love
is the power that initiates friendship, tolerance, civility, and respect.
It is the source that overcomes divisiveness and hate. Love is the
fire that warms our lives with unparalleled joy and divine hope.
Love should be our walk and our talk. President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Second Counselor in the First Presidency said this about love. "As
we extend our heart and hands toward others in Christlike love,
something wonderful happens to us. Our own spirits become
healed, more refined and stronger, We become happier, more
peaceful and more receptive to the whisperings of the Holy Spirit."
May we all show love to those around us each and every day as
the Savior has commanded us.

This Months message:
The Divine Mission of Jesus Christ: Minister

As we minister to others, we become true followers of
Jesus Christ, who set the example for us. President
Thomas S. Monson said: We are surrounded by those in
need. ! We are the Lords hands here upon the earth,
with the mandate to serve and to lift His children.

Linda K. Burton, Relief Society general president, taught:
With practice, each of us can become more like the
Savior as we serve Gods children. To help us better
[minister to] one another, I would like to suggest four
words to remember: First observe, then serve. ! As we
do so, we are keeping covenants, and our service, like
President Monsons, will be evidence of our discipleship.

We can pray each morning to recognize opportunities to
serve others. Heavenly Father will guide you, and
angels will assist you, said David L. Beck, Young Men
general president. You will be given power to bless lives
and rescue souls.

Consider This
1. How can prayer lead us to be instruments in the
Lords hands?
2. How can ministering to others help us keep our
covenants?

The 10
th
Ward Relief Society Theme for 2014 is: Becoming a Zion People.

And the Lord called his people Zion, because they were of one heart and one
mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there was no poor among them.
Moses 7:18.

As important as it is to have this vision in mind, defining and describing Zion will
not bring it about. That can only be done through consistent and concerned daily
effort by every single member of the Church. No matter what the cost in toil or
sacrifice, we must do it. - President Spencer W. Kimball
