1. Revision
Hello, guys, how are you? Lets now revise the vocabulary from the last lesson, you get cards
with materials and should explain them in pairs, by saying, for example: A chair, a bed and a
pencil are made of this. And the answer They are made of wood. Clear?

2. Topic Introduction
Im sure you remembered all the words from the last lesson and tell me, what do a pen and
paper have in common? They were both discovered Before Christ! And what do you know
about inventions? Which inventions do you know? Which famous scientists do you know?
Physicians, mathematicians? Who is an inventor? And whos a discoverer? Who do you know?
Lets write the words which will help you to speak about great inventors
Make an example with at least 3 words in one sentence, using all these words, please

Now lets look at these inventions which do you use every day? Which are the most useful?
Which are made for fun? Which inventors do you know? What countries are they from?
1. Connect an inventor and his inventions. 2. For example you have chosen a compass
Chinese. Ask your partner Was a compass invented by the Chinese? His/her answer can be:
Yes, a compass was invented by the Chinese. Or: No, a compass was not invented by the
Chinese.
3. Now check who was right!
Change the sentences into Passive! For example: The Chinese invented a compass in 206 BC
/500 AD -> A compass wasnt invented in 500 AD. A compass was invented in 206 BC.
4. Grammar:
Passive in negative: S + to be + not + V3.
Passive in questions: To be + S + V3?
You have 3 sentences which you wrote at home. You should change them into the passive, then
for each ask the question and say the negative form, ok?
Write please these irregular verbs down (from the table above). Put the correct verb into the
gaps.

5. Communication game.
What would you invent now, what do you need in your everyday life? What does our
generation need right now?
Now imagine that a time machine has been invented and you look into the future and see there
are only robots! What will be done then? What will happen to books? For example, books will
not be written or read. Now in small groups think about possible events in the future, using
Passive Voice!
6. Conclusions: What did you learn today? Which inventors/inventions do you remember?
