or porcelain, so being a bit o## -on't hurt. I highly reco%%end using the sa%e yarn that I used. I #ind
that even though a yarn %ay be the sa%e -eight and yardage, they can still %a!e up very di##erently,
depending on the 'so#tness' o# the yarn. I #ound it harder to crochet -ith the Super Saver6 it -as a
sti##er yarn than the Vanna's Choice, and %ade up a bit larger. 7ut both yarns %ade up lovely dolls.

I used the 'invisible decrease' #or all the decrease stitches. It leaves no holes and is truly invisible.
?a!es the #eet loo! great. I# you are not #a%iliar -ith this stitch, do a 1oogle search on 'crochet
invisible decrease,' and you -ill #ind several tutorials on ho- to do this. It is easy, and once you see it,
you'll never go bac! to the nor%al decrease.

"aces on crochet can be tric!y, but i# you !eep it si%ple, they can turn out beauti#ully. Cou already
have the eyes in place6 these three dolls have three di##erent %ouths. :ll o# the% -ere done -ith siA
strands o# e%broidery #loss. I al-ays separate the plies, then put the% bac! together.
"or the #ace on the le#t, the %outh is si%ply t-o straight stitches, the top stitch slightly longer than the
botto% stitch.
"or the center #ace, the %outh is a "rench !not. I -rapped the #loss three ti%es around the needle to
%a!e the !not, then used the tail threads to pull the !not gently into the shape I -anted.
"or the right #ace, the %outh is narro-ly satin stitched #or siA stitches, then a si%ple #ly stitch is
stitched on top o# the satin stitches.
@nce the %outh is in place, I crochet the ears on the doll. With the doll #acing %e, I start at the lo-er
le#t ear, one ro- above the %outh and #our stitches #ro% the eye. Sl st in this ro-, then -or!ing to-ard
the top o# the head, three sc around the neAt ro-, then sl st in the neAt ro- and #inish o##. ;eave long
yarn tails at both the beginning and the end *%ore on the% in a %inute+.

With the yarn tails at the botto% o# the ear, run the% through the sa%e ro- as the last st and into the
bac! o# the head. 5his shapes the botto% o# the ear. 7ury the yarn tail in the head.
With the yarn tails at the top o# the ear, run the% into the neAt ro- up, then out at the outside corner o#

"or a bit %ore eye de#inition, I used three strands o# dar! bro-n e%broidery #loss and one straight

I blushed the doll's chee!s -ith crayon. Wild stra-berry #or the ivory s!inned doll, and bric! red #or
the tan doll. Rub the color onto the #ace, then use a so#t cotton cloth to rub the color in and even it out.

cottage cheese lid6 -hatever you have handy. Whittle it do-n until it slides into the #oot, -ith the
printed side up *i# you have printing on your piece o# plastic+. Cou don't need to glue it in place, the
#oot stu##ing -ill hold in place.

Shaping the buttoc!s and belly button2
5hread a tapestry needle -ith your body yarn. Insert the needle #ro% the side o# the doll, eAiting at the
bac! bet-een the legs. Insert needle nine ro-s above the eAit point, and return to sa%e point bet-een
the legs. Repeat this t-o %ore ti%es, each ti%e pulling on the yarn gently to shape the buttoc!s.

yarn #ro% the bac! to the #ront -here you -ant the belly button to be. Insert the needle one stitch up
#ro% the eAit point in #ront, and run bac! into the bac! o# the body. Repeat once, pulling gently on the
yarn to #or% the belly button.
5o #inish o## the yarn, run both loose ends into the body t-o or three ti%es to secure, then bury the ends
in the body.

Run the needle through the third ro- o# the lo-er leg and out, then pass the needle bac! through the

and straight out the botto% o# the head opening. 5hread the needle through the nec!, bet-een ro-s

(ass the needle bac! into the head and eAit out the top, one ro- o## o# dead center opposite the point
you entered the head. (ull on both thread ends to gently pull the head and nec! together, continue
pulling the ends and snug the long end o# the nec! into the head. Cou do not -ant any o# the threads to
