IKUSA Cheat Sheet: Armies and Provincial Forces

(summarized by redsimon)

Size:
Provincial Forces: Can consist of up to 5 regular units.

Armies: Can consist of 1 Daimyo and up to 14 more regular units (0-4 Samurai units and 0-10
Ashigaru units).

Movement:
Provincial Forces: May only move in phase D: into an adjacent empty/friendly province. Single units
may move separately. In this phase provincial forces move after armies do. Note: There may never be
more than five units in a province at the end of phase D!

Armies: May move in phases A and D. Armies with Daimyos of experience level 2 or more may also
move in phase C. This works as follows:
Phase A: The army may move a number of provinces up to the experience level of the
Daimyo, but only into/through friendly provinces.
Phase C: If the Daimyo can make at least one more attack, the army may move after a
successful battle or a battle against an empty province into the newly defeated empty
province.
Phase D: The army may move a number of provinces up to the experience level of the Daimyo
into/through empty as well as friendly provinces. When moving through an empty province, a
garrison of at least one unit has to be left behind. Units may be split off and moved into
adjacent empty provinces to conquer them. In this phase armies move before provincial forces
do.
Note: At the end of a phase a province may not contain more than one army! In an army there may
never be more units than the stacking limit allows (see Size), not even temporarily!

Combat:
Provincial Forces: May declare one battle each in phase B and conduct one battle each in phase C.

Armies: May declare one battle each in phase B. In phase C an army may conduct a number of battles
up to the experience level of the Daimyo. Attacks that were called off count as one battle each.
Between battles, movement is possible (see Movement).

Provincial Forces: May add units by recruiting during action 4: Levy Units.
May add units in phase D from other provincial forces that moved into the same province.

province left would be empty after leaving.
Note: Observe stacking limit (see Size and Movement)!
