Modular air handling units DV
DV is a range of units constructed as modules, which offers numerous
design options. Units can be constructed as separate supply air and extract
air units or as a complete system with a rotating, cross-ow heat exchanger
or run around coils.
The plug fan units guarantee low sound levels.
Combination options
Te DV unit includes a number of well-
dimensioned functions. You can choose
between various systems for heat recovery
and several types of fan and flter. Difer-
ent types of heating coil and air cooler, etc.
Tat is why so many diferent versions of
DV units are available, from the simple unit
with few functions to the advanced ventila-
tion unit.
The unit housing
Te DV units are built to last. In order to
ensure that the unit housing is of a quality
that adheres to the high standards of the
functions, we have chosen to use frames
and panels made from top-quality corro-
sion-resistant aluzinc sheets, AZ185. Sheet
steel coated with aluzinc AZ185 provides
corrosion resistance equivalent to class C4
as per EN ISO 12944-2.
Fans
Belt-driven centrifugal fans with various
high-efciency impellers. Te direct-drive
plug fans ensure low sound levels at low
frequencies.
Heat exchanger
Te DV units can be supplied with 3 types
of heat exchanger: a rotating heat exchanger
with high efciency and a moisture recovery
option, a plate heat exchanger for separation
of the supply air and extract air fows with
the option to choose a corrosion-resistant
heat exchanger, or a heat exchanger with run
around coils for supply air and extract air in
separate locations.
Control system Systemair E28
DV can be ordered with the Systemair E28
control system.
Roof version
Sizes 10-150 are also available as outdoor
units with two diferent roof solutions, poly-
ester-reinforced bitumen roof or corrugated
sheet metal roof of aluzinc. Te roof units
are supplied assembled on base frames.

based on the numerous options available, we have provided speci-
fcations for the most common unit combinations for units with
DVE plug fans.
Tese examples should help to speed up the process of designing
your preferred units with the right functions. Choose the unit ver-
sion that best matches your preferences and then add or remove
functions as required.

Unit housing
Te unit housing is made from galvanised
sheet steel and sandwiched panels. Te
outside of the unit housing has a stove-
enamelled surface in our characteristic blue
colour.
Panels are available in two diferent
versions:
25 mm which is the standard version.
Te panels are attached directly to the
framework.
50 mm which satisfes demands when
more efective heat insulation is required.
Tese panels are attached to a frame made
from 70x70 mm profled aluminium
sections.
All panels are flled with injected poly-
urethane insulation foam, which has excel-
lent heat and sound-insulating properties.
Rockwool panels are optional.
Range and software
Detailed information on NB units is avail-
able in our NB catalogue and product selec-
tion software. Both are easy to use and are
available from your nearest Systemair ofce.

FILTERS
Tere are diferent types of flter material and
a variety of designs for diferent degrees of
air purifcation and thus diferent classes of
flter. With some units the flter type can be
adapted to satisfy specifc requirements for air
purifcation at the premises in question.
Te flters must be replaced at specifed in-
tervals and are mounted in a way that makes
it easy to carry out inspections and replace-
ment work. A monitoring function for flter
replacement is available for some units, using
either set time intervals or diferential pres-
sure sensors. Some flters can be cleaned.
Maxi
Maxi units are supplied with F7 class bag
flters as standard. G3 and F5 class bag
flters can be ordered separately. Te flters
are monitored by means of a diferential
pressure sensor.
Topvex
All Topvex units are supplied with bag
flters as standard. Both the flters are po-
sitioned before the rotating heat exchanger
to keep it clean. Topvex is supplied with an
F7 class flter on the supply air side and an
F5 flter on the extract air side. Filters are
monitored via a time interval in Topvex size
03-06 and a diferential pressure sensor in
Topvex size 07-15.

CENTRIFUGAL FAN
Te fan is the heart of an air handling unit.
It is the fan that creates the pressure required
by the unit. Each type of fan is chosen to
ensure optimum performance with regard to
airfow, sound level and efciency.
F
F has two fan options: a direct-driven fan
with external rotor motor or a centrifu-
gal fan with a single or double inlet with
forward-curved blades. Te impeller and
casing are made of galvanised steel. Te
wheels are made of galvanised steel or
polyamide (PA).
Maxi
Maxi has direct-driven centrifugal fans
with external rotor motors. Te impellers
have forward-curved blades and generate
very little duct noise. A built-in transformer
controls the fans in two stages.
DV
DVV is a double-inlet, belt-driven centrifugal
fan integrated into a soundproof unit housing.
Te BK fan, with backward-curved blades,
has an efciency of 82%. Te FK fan, with
forward-curved blades, has an efciency of
73%. Te multiple fan blades on the wheel
give the FK fan good sound properties and
generate low sound levels. DVV is supplied
with a 1 or 2-speed motor and is also available
with running stand-by motor. Standard fans
are belt-driven and ftted with the highly
efcient RE-X V-belts, with an efciency of
98%. Supplied for sizes 10-150.
NB
Te centrifugal fan has double inlets with
an anchor bedplate, drive pulley and has
three fan options. Two of these options
have forward-curved blades and are in-
tended for use in low-speed airfow units,
while the third, which has forward-curved
blades and is designated RDH, has been
developed for use with intermediate and
high-speed airfow units. Te fan motor is
driven by a pulley and V-belts.
TA
TA units are supplied with F5 bag flters as
standard. F3 and F7 class bag flters can be
ordered separately. Te flter is positioned
before the fan and heating coil and is moni-
tored via time intervals.
F
F comes with three diferent flter options:
panel flter, bag flter and carbon flter.
Te panel flters absorb oil and grease and dis-
courage bacteria. Can withstand temperatures
of up to 80C. Bag flters are available in flter
classes G3-F9 for bag flters 360 mm long and
F5-F9 for bag flters 625 mm long. Carbon
flters are intended for kitchen extractor fans.

PLUG FANS
Tis type of fan is chosen to ensure opti-
mum performance with regard to airfow,
sound level and efciency. A plug fan is a
single-inlet, free-blowing fan with the unit
casing acting as the fan casing.
TA
TA has a direct-drive plug fan with an
external rotor motor. Te impellers have
backward-curved blades. TA can also be
supplied with an external extract air fan
that can be connected to the unit and con-
trolled parallel to the TA unit.
Topvex with Standard controller
Topvex SR03-06 uses efcient plug fans
with backward-curved blades and main-
tenance-free external rotor motors. Te
units have EC motors achieving excellent
efciency. Te EC motors are controlled in
three stages via the control unit. All stages
are infnitely variable between 0 and 100%.
Electrical cables have quick connectors so
that the fans can be released quickly and
easily.
Topvex with Advanced controller
Topvex TR units have efcient plug fans
with EC motors. Both impellers have
backward-curved blades. Te infnitely
variable RPM control is integrated into the
fan motors. Te air volumes are individu-
ally controlled by measuring the pressure
diference across the inlet cone (CAV) or by
measuring the pressure in the ventilation
duct (VAV). Electrical cables have quick
connectors so that the fans can be released
quickly and easily.
TIME, DV, DVCompact, NB
Have highly efcient built-in plug fans with
low sound levels and a low pressure drop at
the duct connection. Te plug fans achieve
an efciency of up to 75%. TIME and
DV (DVE) are supplied with single-speed
motors. With direct-drive plug fans (no belt
drive), the unit requires very little servicing.
Fans and motors are mounted on efective
vibration dampers and are thus isolated
from the unit casing. It is possible to add a
built-in frequency converter to ensure the
desired pressure and airfow. Status alarm
as standard.
Topvex FR03-11, Topvex TR03-06,
Topvex SR03-06
Te heat exchanger is non-hygroscopic,
i.e. does not recover moisture. Efciency is
up to 85% for balanced airfows. Te heat
exchanger can be removed and has quick
connectors on its electrical cables.
Topvex TR09-15, Topvex SR07-11 E

does not recover moisture. Efciency is up
to 85% for balanced airfows. Te heat
exchanger in Topvex TR09-15 can be
removed and has quick connectors on its
electrical cables.
ROTATING HEAT
EXCHANGER
Te rotating heat exchanger is a functional
element that recovers heat from indoor air
to warm up the cold outdoor air. A belt
drive transfers power from a rotor motor to
the heat exchanger. A rotor monitor emits
an alarm if the rotating heat exchanger
stops. Te design of the rotor with its cor-
rugated aluminium has been optimised to
ensure high efciency and a low pressure
drop. A stabilising rotor shaft guarantees
smooth and steady operation.
TIME, DVCompact
Te rotating heat exchanger is extremely
efcient, up to 85%. Heat exchangers are
controlled by a built-in motor and have var-
iable RPM control. Tey are also supplied
with purging sectors that prevent extract air
from mixing with supply air.
DV
DVC is also available in a hygroscopic ver-
sion, i.e. does recover moisture. Tis type of
heat exchanger saves the most energy. Te
standard version has an efciency of up to
80%, and there is an even more efcient
version that can achieve 87% efciency de-
pending on the operating conditions. It has a
short overall length. Heat exchangers can be
equipped with purging sectors that prevent
extract air from mixing with supply air.
NB

CROSS-FLOW HEAT
EXCHANGER
Te cross-fow heat exchanger is a functional
element that recovers heat from indoor air
to warm up the cold outdoor air. Tese are
made of corrugated aluminium sheets. Heat
transfer between the sheets is improved
by the turbulence created by the surface.
Turbulence is created without any dirt being
collected and causing changes in velocity.
Te design of the plates means that the
entire surface of the heat exchanger can be
used to maximum efect. With balanced air-
fows, efciency can exceed 70% but around
50-60% is normal. In units where separate
airfows are required, it can be useful to
have a plate heat exchanger to perform this
function, for example, if you want to avoid
supply air being tainted by odours.
Maxi
Maxi 1100 has a built-in by-pass duct as
standard. Tis by-pass duct is available as
an accessory for Maxi 2000.
TIME, DVCompact
TIME with plate heat exchanger has a
build in by-pass and is supplied with a high
efciency heat exchanger type.
Topvex TX/SX
Topvex TX/SX has a built-in by-pass duct
as standard.
DV, NB
In units where separate airfows are
required, it can be useful to have a plate
heat exchanger to perform this function,
for example, if you want to avoid supply air
being tainted by odours. In cases where no
moisture is transferred between the airfows,
the plate heat exchanger DVQ can be used
as a dehumidifer and can be delivered with
a standard or a high efciency type. Tere
are two versions of this heat exchanger, both
of which are suitable for diferent types of
environment. Te aluminium version is used
in commercial ventilation, for example, in
schools, day nurseries, ofces and hotels,
where the air does not contain corrosive
particles that could damage the material.
Corrosion-resistant versions ftted with
surface-treated aluminium elements are used
in environments where the extract air could
contain aggressive particles. Heat recovery is
controlled via a built-in by-pass damper.
RUN AROUND COIL
HEAT EXCHANGER
DV
Te run around coil heat exchanger DVR
is a system where a mixture of water and
glycol is circulated between two coils. DVR
are used where the two airfows must be
completely separated.

With integrated sound-damping screens in
thicknesses of 100 or 200 mm.
TIME
Silencers can be integrated as a part of the
unit. Always as double silencers (inlet and
exhaust).
DV
Sound attenuator DVD is an absorptive
silencer ftted with bafes. For environmen-
tal reasons, the screens have been surface-
treated to prevent wear to the sound-
absorbing material. Tere are 3 diferent
types of surface treatment:
SILENCERS
Silencers are a functional element used
to reduce the transfer of unit noise to the
building and surroundings.
All our units can be equipped with silenc-
ers, as integrated or loose duct silencers.
For TA, Maxi, and Topvex, silencers are
available as an external accessory.
1. Standard coating ideal for all forms of
commercial ventilation.
2. Bafes coated with a strong, durable
material that is extremely resistant to
mechanical wear. Tis is used when baf-
fes will only be cleaned by brushing or
vacuuming.
3. Plastic-coated bafes are preferable when
they are likely to be cleaned by wash-
ing. In order to facilitate inspections and
cleaning of DVD, the unit housing has
large inspection panels for types 2 and 3.
Te bafes are designed so that they can
be removed for cleaning.
DVCompact
Te sound attenuator are ftted with aluzinc
185-coated steel panel frames and bafels.
Order as external accessory.
NB
Te bafes are flled with a soundproof
fbreglass material. Tere are two options to
choose from:
PA the soundproof material has a protec-
tive fameproof layer to discourage erosion
caused by airfows.
PAM has the same properties as PA, but
with an additional protective layer compris-
ing polyester flm (Melinex).
AIR COOLER DX
Air coolers are used to cool supply air and
employ the direct expansion principle (ex-
pansion valve). Air coolers are made of cop-
per tubing and have aluminium elements.
Te refrigerant does not contain freon.
Can be ftted with a drip tray.
TA, Maxi, Topvex
Ordered as an external accessory. Control-
led via the units built-in control system.
Topvex size 03-06 and FR03-11 also
requires the accessory: Signal converter
SC2/D.
TIME
Te Cooling coil is positioned after the
fan. Diferent capacities are available. Te
cooling capacity is controlled via the units
control system. Are ftted with a drip tray.
Aluzinc 185-coated steel panel frame.
DV
Te cooling coil DVK, is calculated and
designed for each air handling unit. Aluzinc
185-coated steel panel frame. Are ftted
with a drip tray. Change over coil, where
the same coil are used for both heating and
cooling are available. Cooler DVU in size
10-40 is a complete cooling system with all
cooling components and control system In-
tegreted in a DV casing. Stepless operation
from 0 to max capacity by advanced control
system and speed controlled compressor.
DVCompact
Te electric heating coil, witch have several
capacities, are positioned after the fan
and are ftted with condensation insulated
aluzinc 185-coated steel panel frame and
vertical pipe connections.
