PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES
CAPTAIN 2005 Present

A typical merchant ship captain oversees deck officers, a chief engineer and assistant
engineers, plus non officers, such as deck seamen, cooks or food-handlers. The size
and service of the ship determines the number of crew.

Planning and executing safe navigational passage using navigational aids, determine
geographical position using navigational instruments and charts, and guide vessels in
severe conditions, rivers, canals, and other confined or hazardous waters and
waterways.
Maintenance of vessels' navigational instruments and equipment.
Directing and overseeing loading and unloading of cargo.
Supervising and coordinate activities of deck crews, and record vessels' progress,
crews' activities, and weather and sea conditions in the ship's log.
Able to operate small vessels operating in harbours, rivers, or along the coast.
Overseeing the routine and ad hoc maintenance duties plus the smooth, efficient
running of the engine room and deck machinery,
Responsible for safe and efficient operation of prime movers and ancillary
equipment.
Carrying out various inspections such as the upkeep of engine room log and efficient
handovers.
Responsible for ensuring machinery has been tested prior to sailing.
Safe fuel transfers.
Loading of bunkers and bulk oil.
Responsible for ships emergency parties and fire fighting teams including onboard
