SECTION 16300

LIGHTING FIXTURES

PART 1.00 – GENERAL:

1.01 WORK INCLUDED:

A. Provide all lighting fixtures, lamps and accessory equipment as specified on the drawings and
herein. All lighting fixtures shall be listed by the Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., unless
otherwise noted.

PART 2.00 – PRODUCTS:

2.01 FIXTURES:

A. Accessory equipment such as ballasts, sockets, lampholders, etc., shall be listed by the
Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., and the Electrical Testing Laboratories, unless otherwise noted.

B. Accessory equipment such as ballasts, sockets, lampholders, etc., shall be approved by the
Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., and the Electrical Testing Laboratories, unless otherwise noted.
Ballasts shall also be in accordance with the requirements of Certified Ballast Manufacturers
(CBM), high power factor, operating temperature maximum 90 degrees C., sound rating of "A"
and shall have internal thermal overload non-setting fuses or circuit breakers.

1. Fluorescent lighting fixtures shall be provided with high power factor energy saving ballasts,
unless otherwise noted. Ballasts installed in one fixture shall not supply lamps in another
fixture. Lamps shall be standard warm white, unless noted otherwise.

2. Incandescent lighting fixtures shall be provided with proper type lamp. When the fixture is
designed for larger lamps specified to be furnished, required socket extensions shall be
provided.

C. Finishes shall be standard finish provided by the manufacturer unless otherwise noted. Ferrous
metal components shall have an approved rust preventive treatment having adherence qualities
suitable for the finish to be applied. Lacquer or enamel finish shall be baked-on at no less than
300 degrees F. Non-ferrous metal components, such as aluminum, shall be protected by a
suitable oxide coating treatment and further provided with a satin-resisting sealing type of
treatment.

D. Plaster frames furnished by the fixture manufacturer shall be provided for all recessed lighting
fixtures when installed in plaster or acoustical plaster finished surfaces. All costs for the plaster
frame materials and installation shall be included in the bid under this section of the
Specification.

2.02 OTHER FIXTURES:

 A. HID and incandescent fixtures and mounting arrangements shall be as called for in the
drawings.

PART 3.00 – EXECUTION:

3.01 INSTALLATION:

A. Installation of all lighting fixtures shall be in an approved workmanlike manner subject to the
Architect's approval. Provide all straps, supports, hangers and other materials required for
proper installation. Continuous rows of fixtures shall be installed so as to provide perfect
alignment. Surface mounted fixtures shall not have gaps between the fixture and attaching
surface.

B. All fixtures shall be supported from the building structure; do not support from the suspended
ceilings. Fixtures in areas without suspended ceilings to be supported with metal rods.
1. Coordinate finished trims of all recessed fixtures.
