SECTION 16500

CABLE TV SYSTEM / TELEPHONE SYSTEM

PART 1.00 – GENERAL:

1.01 WORK INCLUDED:

A. Cable TV System

1. The work covered under this section of specifications shall include the furnishing and
installation of an empty conduit system with pull wires for the Cable TV system serving the
apartment units. All work shall be fully coordinated with Mr. Bob Smith of Comcast Cable
TV at (301)-294-7736.

2. Contractor shall furnish and install two 4" conduits, minimum 24" below final grade from the
main Cable TV terminal board to a point one foot from the building as determined by the
local Cable TV Company. Contact the local Cable TV company representative for further
information and coordination of the Cable TV system.

B. Telephone System

1. The work covered under this section of specifications shall include the furnishing and
installation of a complete operational telephone system for the apartments, including the
distribution, equipment and materials as specified and/or indicated with all necessary
electrical connections for complete installation of all distribution systems as shown on
drawings and hereinafter specified.

2. Contractor shall furnish and install all terminal strips, pull boxes, modular telephone outlets,
and conduit for the telephone system as hereinafter specified and indicated on the
drawings.

3. Contractor shall furnish and install two 4" conduits, minimum 24" below final grade from the
main telephone terminal board to a point one foot from the building as determined by the
local telephone company. Contact the local Telephone company representative for further
information and coordination of the Telephone Cable TV system. At the present time there
are four 4” conduits entering the building at the basement level where indicated on the
drawings. All work shall be fully coordinated with Mr. Bob Purdum of Verizon Telephone
Co. at (301) 595-6020.

4. All telephone wiring within apartment units shall be in minimum 4 pair 24 AWG Cat. 5
telephone cable, using modular outlets. Wiring shall terminate in standard telephone
network interface at the main telephone service equipment. Contractor shall use distribution
telephone cables (risers) and terminal strips as required to provide a complete installation.

5. Contractor shall provide all labor and material required as herein specified and indicated on
the drawings to conform to the standards of the local telephone Company.

PART 2.00 – PRODUCTS:

2.01 MATERIALS:

A. Provide four (4) Cat – 5E pair UTP telephone cable to each telephone outlet.

B. Phone jacks to be dual jacks.
