What is J.K. Wall Putty ?
J.K. Wall Putty is a White Cement based fine powder which provides an ideal finishing for concrete / cement
plastered walls and ceilings. It provides an ideal base for painting and damp resistant smooth finish for further
application of all kinds of paints. (It is very important to understand that damp resistance means resistance to
water in humid air and not physical water contact / leakages).

What is the covering capacity of J.K. Wall Putty?
Maximum thickness of 1st coat (layer) 1.5 mm and maximum thickness of 2nd coat (layer) 1.0 mm. Approx
achievable coverage is 35 sqft./mm/kg of J.K. Wall Putty. However, actual coverage achieved depends on the
base surface condition and finished thickness.

Why is primer not required before painting when J.K. Wall Putty is applied on the wall ?
Since J.K. Wall Putty is made with very fine white cement and it fills all the pin holes and pores of plaster
resulting in surface that has very less tendency of absorption, therefore, primer is not recommended after
application of J.K. Wall Putty.

After how many days of application of J.K. wall putty, can paint be applied on the wall ?
Painting can be done after 3 or more days after application of J.K. Wall Putty but it should be ensured that J.K.
wall putty is completely dry before applying paint.

How should the surface be prepared for J.K. wall putty application if the wall is showing signs of
efflorescence / salt deposition?
If due to salty water or salt in sand / bricks, problem of efflorescence is observed then plastered surface should
be treated with mild acid like citric acid before application of J.K. Wall Putty. Otherwise, wall putty will not stick to
the wall and problem of flaking may arise. After 30 minutes of treating the surface with mild acid, surface should
be washed thoroughly so that no acid remains on the wall. After drying properly, J.K. wall putty can be applied as
normal. This treatment should be done under proper supervision.

What is reason of poor adhesion and flaking of J.K. wall putty near skirting?
During grinding of floor and skirting, slurry is produced. It sticks to the wall and becomes hard if not cleaned
properly with wire brush before application of J.K. wall putty. The putty applied on surfaces will not give good
result. Therefore, before applying J.K. wall putty near skirting it should be cleaned properly (with wire brush) and
washed thoroughly to avoid flaking and poor adhesion, so that slurry deposited on the wall during grindi ng is
removed totally. After drying the wall, putty can be applied as normal.

What is the reason of Peeling (Bubbles on wall) from base surface?
There are many reasons for (bubble) peel off. To obtain extra smooth and zero undulation finish, applicators
exceeds the specified limit of thickness of J.K. wall putty film and also because when second coat is applied over
freshly (poorly set) applied first coat of J.K. wall putty. The other reason could be that wall may have been
painted earlier with cement paint or other paint which is water repellent. This results in reduced adhesion to wall
and consequent spalling.

What is the pot life of the J.K. wall putty?
The pot life of J.K. Wall putty is 2 - 2.5 hours.

How much water is required for making paste of J.K.Wall Putty?
For making J.K. Wall putty mix approximately 33 to 38 percent of water is required by volume.

For how long J.K. Wall Putty mix can be used after mixing of water ?
Product should be mixed in such quantities that it can be used within 2 hours of its preparation. Mixing could be
done by electric mixer rather than manual mixing.

What precautions should be taken during application of J.K. wall putty?
Ensure that surface is plastered or made with cementitious material. Ensure that surface is totally clean. Ensure
that surface is moderately rough (Neither too-rough nor too-smooth). Ensure that surface is just wet. Over-wetting
resulting in accumulation of water on surface should be avoided.

What is the time gap between first and second coat of J.K. wall putty.?
Apply second coat preferably after 4 hours in hot season & after 12 hours in cold season. Ensure that second
coat is applied until first coat is fully set.

Should we add water into putty or putty into water ?
Always add water to J.K. wall putty while making paste. Adding putty in water may lead to formation of small
nodules which will reduce the performance of the putty.

Is curing required after applications of J.K. Wall Putty ?
Curing is not required after applications of J.K. Wall Putty, However, after application, just sprinkling of water over
applied surface for 2 days will enhance the hydration of cement particles which will give better results.

What is J.K. Coarse Wall Putty and what are the applications ?
J.K. Coarse Wall Putty is a White Cement based putty for plastered walls and ceilings. J.K. Coarse putty is a
coarse powder specially formulated to be used as base coat to cover up undulation and uneven surfaces of
cement plastered walls and concrete surfaces for exteriors and interiors. It can also be used directly over Brick
