Classical Pianist and Composer
Career
Born on the 17 December 1770, Ludwig Van Beethoven became a recognized and iconic pianist and
composer, having an obvious flair which showed from a young age for the arts, particularly music. As
a young adult, he aspired to study with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, however he befriended the other
classical composer Joseph Haydn. Moving then to Vienna, where he stayed until his death, he built on
his reputation as a pianist. His hearing slowly began to worsen, and at the time of his death he was
fully deaf. Never the less, many of Beethovens most iconic and recognized pieces came from the era
when he was becoming and became deaf. Today, Ludwig Van Beethoven is seen as an admired
and one of the greatest classical composers ever.
Songs and Pieces
Beethovens pieces today are recognized around the world. In total, he composed nine symphony
and was on his tenth at the time of his death. All the symphonies have been performed around the
world by many well-known orchestras and choirs. The main emphasis of his music was on
romanticism, as it was written in that era.
Beethoven Brought to Life in Film
After his death, Beethoven was brought to life on screens as a lovable dog, as well as being depicted
and played in many other smaller documentaries and films. The Austrian film Eroica was entered into
the 1949 Cannes Film Festival, and Walt Disneys television series Magnificent Rebel was released
into theatres around Europe.
Memorials After Death
As he was a significant figure in music, after Beethovens death he was remembered throughout the
world, particularly in Bonne, where he was born. There are many statues of him, but the most
significant memorial appears to be the museum Beethoven Haus which is open to the public in
central Bonne.
