Gloucester City Council outsources IT service to Civica, safeguarding jobs
and cutting costs
Six-year contract agreed as part of a move to drive savings of 100,000 a year 4 th June 2014 Gloucester: Civica, a market leader in specialist systems and business process services that help organisations transform the way they work, has signed a six year contract with Gloucester City Council to outsource its IT service. This follows the success of the innovative revenues and benefits partnership Civica created with the City Council in 2011. The new agreement will provide the council with the ability to make further savings of 100,000 a year through the outsourcing of its IT operations and help the City Councils strategy to reform the way it provides back office, transactional and corporate support services to meet budget constraints. Working in consultation with the City Council, Civica will run IT services on its behalf, ensuring administration and back office processes are managed cost efficiently and seamlessly. The existing partnership between Civica and Gloucester City Council, to outsource the provision of revenues, benefits and welfare rights services, has proved very successful. Immediate savings have been delivered since 2011, whilst the partnership has also managed to achieve the best performance for council tax collection through Civicas creation of a Centre of Excellence for the City, which has also enabled access to Civicas OnDemand services, to assist a further 20 authorities. Paul James, Leader of Gloucester City Council said, We set ourselves high expectations around what results we wanted to achieve through partnering with a company like Civica. We have been delighted to see what has been accomplished so far, such as the reduction of our council tax arrears by 1.5 million. We look forward to developing our relationship with Civica further as we continue to drive cost savings, sustain employment and improve services for our citizens. Simon Downing, chief executive officer of Civica, said, Although much has been done within local government to maintain and improve services while spending less, many organisations are still under considerable pressure to make additional savings. This new partnership illustrates just how they can do so by adapting service delivery and processes to reap cost efficiencies without impacting overall service.
