Calculators: You may use a scientific calculator on tests. You may not use your cell phone as a
calculator. No graphing calculators are allowed.
Math 903 Student Learning Outcomes Statement
Course Outcomes

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

1. Develop, interpret and perform operations on algebraic expressions, functions and equations.
2. Apply algebraic vocabulary, symbols, graphs and/or data tables to reading, interpreting and
solving algebraic problems.
3. Demonstrate critical thinking in the problem-solving process that involves both symbolic
and real-world application problems.
4. Demonstrate the skills to communicate mathematics clearly and confidently.

CLASS RULES
1. You are expected to come to all class meetings on time and participate actively in class.
Class participation will count favorably toward your grade. You should try to speak up and ask
as many questions as possible. Do not be afraid to speak. There is no such thing as a dumb
question.
2. You are expected to show respect for others in class at all times. Please be polite and dont
engage in social talk during lecture because it makes it hard for me and other students to
concentrate.
3. Homework: It will be done online using MY MATH LAB online learning environment.
Please go to www.mymathlab.com . The details of what to do will be explained in class
4. You are expected to exercise academic honesty. Cheating will not be tolerated. If you are
caught cheating, you may be given an F grade for the course
5. No make-ups are given for the tests. The tests may NOT be taken early either. If you are
absent on the day of the test, you will be given a ZERO for that assignment.
6. Cellphones: keep all cell phones turned OFF or on SILENT MODE.
7. Absences: Attendance is taken every day. If you have get 2 UNEXCUSED ABSENCES you
may be dropped from the class
8. Emergency preparedness: in the event of an emergency and the campus is closed, I will
email you a study plan so that you can continue your studies until the campus re-opens.
GRADING
NOTE: Unless you requested to take the class for Credit/No credit, you are taking this class for a
letter grade
MY MATH LAB HW counts 30%.
TWO TESTS EACH COUNT 20% - ALL TESTS ARE CLOSED BOOK AND NOTES
FINAL EXAM COUNTS 30% - CUMULATIVE COVERS ALL MATERIAL
YOUR LOWEST TEST SCORE WILL BE REPLACED BY YOUR FINAL EXAM
SCORE, IF THE FINAL EXAM SCORE IS HIGHER
PLEASE NOTE:
1. NO MAKEUPS ALLOWED FOR TESTS.
2. ALL TESTS MUST BE TAKEN AT THE ASSIGNED TIME.
3. NO EXCEPTIONS FOR ANY REASON.
