Quotes from Thus Spoke Zarathustra which I would like to employ in this project
Zarathustra's Roundelay:
This comes at the very end of the book when the verman succumbs to the reality that he is trapped in the
eternal recurrence of life despite his e!altation" I would like to split the roundelay up into three verses which I
will #ive to my characters$ the Travellin# %erchant& the 'lind Seer and The (oice that #uides him to
tran)uillity& to say respectively"
The Travellin# %erchant's openin# line to the prota#onist:
man* +ttend*
,hat does deep midni#ht's voice contend-
I slept my sleep
+nd now awake at journey's end"

The 'lind Seer's penin# lines to the .rota#onist:
The world is deep
+nd deeper than day can comprehend
/eep is it's woe
The voice that #uides him to tran)uillity's openin# lines to the prota#onist
0oy
/eeper than heart's a#ony

I would also like the hooded stran#er3s first lines to be another line from 4iet5sche&
I am a forest& and a ni#ht of dark trees"
'ut he who is not afraid of my darkness&
will find banks full of roses under my cypresses"
The world
There are three distinct places in which the prota#onist is seen in the film" The first is the forest& the second is
the world defined durin# the flashbacks and the final is tran)uillity"
The 1orest 6 7imbo
The man awakes here& it is #loomy and and endless" The reason for the forest is that that is the place we see him
in durin# the last of the flashbacks$ durin# the ritual" I wish to imply that the man has been killed by the cult
and his body has been trapped in limbo& so it seems natural to me to portray it as a warped yet wonderfully
dreamlike version of his final restin# place" 8ere he encounters his spirit #uide 9the hooded stran#er:& and three
messen#ers of sorts& the merchant& the seer and the voice" The merchant and the seer offer the man a choice&
both are a way of testin# his ri#ht to ascend" 8e overcomes both encounters in order to receive the clues that
enable him to find the path& in the merchant's case he overcomes his #reed then in the seer's case he overcomes
his e#o and pride"
1lashbacks 6 %emories of the .ast
I would like to make the two flashbacks monta#e se)uences of video and sound" I'd like to portray a nostal#ic&
reflective effect whilst makin# use of .( foota#e to help create a sense of tension and impendin# doom"
The first flashback will be clips of the man as he is relayin# information he has uncovered about a secretive
cult" 8e seems e!cited and convinced of his success whilst e!plainin# his findin#s to a friend& but he is told to
be wary" I would like to employ parts of The Rub;iy;t of mar <hayy;m implyin# that the book holds some
clue to his discovery of the cults rituals"

The second flashback starts with the man postin# his findin#s& I like the idea of him achievin# his #oal of
e!posin# the cult even if he never #ets to see the outcome" 8e is apprehended and taken to the ritual site& the
ritual itself will be )uite intense and make use of actual satanic rites from The Satanic 'ible and 'ook of
/aemonic Rituals"
Tran)uillity 6 8eaven 6 =ternity
The final place we see at the end" This will be a place of bri#ht li#ht and peaceful music& I3d like to imply that
this the prota#onist's final restin# place and the reward for his journey throu#h life as well as the ascension from
his mortal coil"
