TThe New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP)
requires that anyone planning to sit for an industrial (N license)
examination take and pass a 90-hour Industrial Wastewater
Treatment course. The course agenda will include:
Biological treatment regulations
Domestic wastes and their treatment
NJDEP rules and regulations governing industrial treatment
Physical/chemical treatment options
Industrial waste characteristics and treatment techniques
Math and calculation reviews
Plant safety and
Sludge treatment, residuals management and solids
handling.
The theory and science behind each topic will be explained and
accompanied by examples of practical applications. Several
required eld trips (weekday and/or weekend) will reinforce the
topics discussed in class. The course consists of thirty (30) three-
hour sessions which meet from 6:00 to 9:00 pm on Tuesday and
Thursday evenings from September 9 through December 18, 2014.

This course will provide a maximum of 90 TCHs for any
currently licensed NJ wastewater operator.
(Approval # 01-060601-20)
Anyone planning to sit for a Level 2 or higher wastewater collection
system (C) license examination is required by the NJDEP to
complete and pass a 45-hour Advanced Wastewater Collection
Systems course. Specic topics include:
NJDEP rules and regulations governing collection systems
Hydraulics and ow measurement
Inspection techniques for new and existing sewers
Math and calculation reviews
Sewer cleaning, repair and replacement and
Grease and odor control.
The theory and science behind each topic will be explained and
accompanied by examples of practical applications in the eld. A
practice exam will be given and the results discussed in class. The
class consists of 15 three-hour sessions which meet from 6:00
to 9:00 PM on Monday and Wendneday evenings from January 5
through March 11, 2015.
Please note that all registrants must have sucessfully completed
Introduction to Water and Wastewater Operations. Those who
have already taken Advanced Collection Systems may wish to take
it again as a review for a C3 or C4 examination.
Course Instructor: Jerry Haimowitz (PE, S-4, C-4, T-4 and W-4).
Mr. Haimowitz has over 25 years experience operating collection
systems.

This course is designed to provide attendees with detailed
information on the operation of water treatment and distribution
systems. Successful completion of this course is required to sit for
New Jersey drinking water exams level 2 and higher.
Specic topics include:
Sources of water and its characteristics
Federal and state (NJDEP) rules, regulations and standards
Water analysis methods
Treatment options: corrosion, taste and odor control
Surface and ground water supplies and
Math and calculation reviews.
The course includes plant tours, eld visits and exams.
