Introduction
Sustainable interior design is of importance in the modern architecture because of:
Client attention on space beauty and efficiency
Desire for implementing customized ideas with possible environmental friendly or recycle materials

Note:
Construction industry has experienced massive changes over the years
Increasing demands for residential buildings with environmental friendly materials
Operation costs should be reduced by improving building efficiencies with sustainable
design

Solution
Green buildings with sustainable interior materials can be used as s strategy for creating
more eco-friendly buildings that are more energy efficient and healthier

Architectures and engineers are responsible for adopting designs with environmental
friendly materials

Today, green building is considered a significant factor of eminence and virtue of
environment and economy in the developed societies.

Statement of the Problem
Buildings are the number one users of natural materials and resources

Challenge in designing building with reclaimed materials that:

1. are in harmony with the environment

2. are more energy efficient in use of valuable resources

3. provide indoor spaces that are more comfortable, more productive and healthier for
their residents

4. Have integrated approach from design to construction and finish-work

Green building design includes utilization of sustainable materials for interior spaces

Any design in this field is therefore required to be supported by comprehensive study
that are originated from knowledge of reclaimed materials on how each component can
be applied individually and in harmony with the overall work
Objectives
To provides a comprehensive survey on the definitions
and concepts of green buildings and recycles materials
with application in sustainable design of interior spaces

Definitions and Concepts
Green Design: is defined as the practice of creating structures
and using processes that are environmentally responsible and
resource-efficient throughout a buildings life-cycle, from
selecting site location, to design and construction, from
operational works to maintenance, deconstruction and renovation.

Sustainability design: is defined as a set of procedures that are
applied to meet the needs of the present generation without
compromising those of the future

Benefits and advantages
Reducing energy consumption
reduce water consumption
Protection of ecosystems
Improved health of occupants
Increased productivity

Review of Literature
The adaptive reuse of existing buildings is one of the highest forms of sustainable design (Bergman, 2012;
Caroon, 2010; Gorse & Highfield, 2009; Jones, 2008; Rabun & Kelso, 2009; UNEP, 2009; Yung & Chan,
2012).

Paul et al., (2008) tested the hypothesis that green buildings have better indoor environmental quality than
conventional ones.

Impey (2008) emphasizes that traditional and historic buildings and places have always located in a
changing climate and that their flexibility or capacity to adapt must not be underestimated.

Rodwell (2007) states that cultural heritage is an essential component of promoting national identity and as a
cornerstone of sustainable development.

While, Lehmann (2012) affirms that the worlds built heritage plays an important role in the shift towards a
low carbon society.

Impey (2008) emphasizes that traditional and historic buildings and places have always located in a
changing climate and that their flexibility or capacity to adapt must not be underestimated.

Ward, (2012) discussed that the existing building stock contains a large amount of personified energy that
should not be lost through destruction . Demolition and equivalent new construction of energy-efficient
buildings require decades to equal the energy savings of rehabilitating and reusing existing buildings (TEC,
2008).

Bamboo Room Divider:

Room partitions are multifunctional and appealingly
pleasing for decorating purposes.

They can be used to partition a room so it can be used
as two rooms, (double duty), or to provide more close
spaces within a room.

A living room or dining room space can be made
from an open-space or an isolated reflection area can
be created. It can also be used also only as
decoration, rather than just a partition.

Corners can be made softer by placing the screen
cattycorner in it or the bamboo divider can lay flat
against the wall for dramatic effect.

Bamboo Wallpaper:

Bamboo wallpaper creates a calming
environment for home and adds texture to the
walls with bamboo wallpaper. It is as tranquil
to install as other typical wallpaper. Bamboo
wall covering can add a distinctive piece to the
walls.

Bamboo Rugs (Two categories)
1. bamboo wood rugs: is used to add elements of texture to
the floor and to provide complement for the room, no
matter if a carpet exist or not, or if it is a wooden or tile
flooring.

2. bamboo fabric: The second option, bamboo fabric rugs
are designed and made from bamboo yarns. They are as
soft and as comfortable and luxuries as bamboo clothing.
These rugs are a luxury treat for occupants feet.

Both styles are good-looking and attractive, and they are
durable enough to take the beating of floors sustain.

Bamboo Furniture

Bamboo furniture can be used outside the coffee
tables and couch frames, they can be fashioned into
everything, from book case to stools. In fact, there
are several unique glooms to the bamboo wood that
gives the designers multiple options to select from.
Since the plant is durable and sturdy, and yet
flexible; it can be formed into a variety of shapes
and designs.

Bamboo Sink

Bamboo sink can add a histrionic effect to the
kitchen that is to be modified and remodeled by
installing this beautiful and strong sunken
sink. Hard enough to be with a crowded kitchen,
this sink can be used as a centerpiece for the kitchen,
and it is not ending there; there are multitudes of
ways that bamboo can serve for kitchen remodeling.

Reclaimed top nailed oak
With emphasis on local supplies, using domesticated woods saved
on material costs, but added a lot of time.

The floor is made of salvaged oak nail, which mixtures with the
entire home.

Variety of reclaimed wood, either as-is salvaged pieces or
machined to make a paneling with the original antique surface.
