Side-effects

injection site problems such as inflammation - seek medical advice if you get swelling, broken skin or pooling of fluid under the skin where you have injected

depression - seek immediate medical advice if you experience depression
diarrhoea
difficulty sleeping
fever
hair loss
itching
jointpain
musclepain or tenderness
nausea
pain at the injection site
rigors
skin rash or rashes
tiredness
vomiting
Uncommon: More than 1 in 1000 people who have Interferon beta-1a
abscess or a lump at the injection site
breathing difficulties
eye or eyesight problems
increased sweating
injection site infections
liver problems - seek medical advice if you develop jaundice
necrosis at the injection site. To help avoid necrosis at the injection site you should carefully follow your medical team's instructions on how to inject Interferon
beta-1a and change the place where you inject it from time to time. If you are worried about the appearance of the injection site seek medical advice
seizures
thromboembolism
thyroid problems or worsening of thyroid problems
urticaria
Rare: More than 1 in 10,000 people who have Interferon beta-1a
anaphylactic reactions
angioedema
autoimmune problems
cellulitis at the injection site
erythema multiforme or erythema multiforme-like reactions
lupus or lupus-like problem
Stevens-Johnson syndrome
suicide attempt - seek immediate medical advice if you have thoughts of committing suicide

difficulty in walking
heart problems or worsening of heart problems
hypoaesthesia
muscle spasm
muscle, bone or joint stiffness
neurological problems

feeling dizzy
heart problems
heavy or long menstrual periods
loss of appetite
palpitations
vasodilatation
